1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Was scammed by someone from Localbitcoins on: December 21, 2013, 04:59:06 PM
No keep posting on a forum about it, I'm sure that'll help.

Ehhh...I'm here for advice that's all. I've taken action on the advice and found new leads.

File a police report and have them demand it.

You mean have the police contact localbitcoins?

I've filed a police report, could I contact localbtc myself?

I previously posted about being scammed by lencom. Someone apparently used a pseudonym to contact me.

Now through some conversations with other members it appears that lencom is posing as me on localbitcoins and getting paid via scamming another party for money and trading them for bitcoins. This is identity theft...

Lencom has verified his telephone number and his email on localbitcoins. I was wondering how to contact localbitcoins to stop this scammer and get a hold of him/her?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shall this mining strategy work? on: December 19, 2013, 04:31:06 PM
no, i mean mine in solo coins, with low difficulty

such paycoin, diamond, globalcoin and all the new coin

but for now doge seems the most profitable

but you need patience, you can expect to make one block per day, with coins at 50 difficulty

ok so we're back to multipool.us mining.

My main concern was if it makes more ltc/btc than mining them directly. Apparently on average it does, which is great news.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shall this mining strategy work? on: December 19, 2013, 10:55:01 AM
just mine in solo

you get more profit trust me

3 x 280x are enough to mine in solo even coins that are above 100 difficulty, easily
Do you mean mine ltc directly?

The exact purpose of multipool is what you are stating. Multipool wouldn't exist if it wasn't because you could do exactly what you are saying. In short, yes, it should be more profitable theoretically. Go to the site, there's a profitability indicator right at the homepage.

I went to multipool.us...It says it's currently mining Dogecoins for scrypt and the profitability is 76.46...but that is that 76.46 within a day or what? i may need a lot more than that to trade for 1 btc.

Also, after mining the profitable coin, do you immediately go to cryptsy/bter to trade for ltc/btc? or is it automated ? or can be
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: December 19, 2013, 09:07:11 AM
Is using multipool.us then exchanging the coins for BTC/LTC better than directly mining LTC? with 3 sapphire r9 280x's I'd be able to mine .7 LTC a day.

Use multipool.us it switches for you based on profitability. Its working well for me and my R5 240's

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Shall this mining strategy work? on: December 19, 2013, 08:09:36 AM
I'm thinking of mining alternative cryptos and trading them in for BTC and LTC. The alt crypto have lower difficulty and higher profitability.

But I really don't know whether it's worth it. I'll use a GPU miner to mine for Scrypt based currencies then trade them for LTC/BTC.

i shall use 3 Sapphire  r9 280x Dual-x to mine. But I don't know how many e.g., Emerald coins, Cryptogenic Bullion, Mincoin, etc coins shall i be able to mine a day with this strategy. I'll shift between coins depending on profitability.

I am considering this strategy other than mining for LTC directly. I'm wondering if this strategy is better than mining for LTC directly.
11  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Anyone here using the KNCMiner Neptune? on: December 15, 2013, 04:11:58 PM
I was wondering if anyone is using https://www.kncminer.com/products/neptune. Someone told me that it mines 2 BTC a day and breaks even in 2-3 weeks?

Anyone using this?

Also, what is the waiting time for this product after ordering (I reckon a year given the backlog orders)

This product is in pre-order and is expected Q1/Q2 next year.  Nobody is mining with it.

If it arrives around April next year at a difficulty of 5000m then it would mine about .3 bitcoins per day.

I was thinking of manufacturing my own ASIC miners in China.

Btw, I wonder how much most people with one ASIC miner are mining nowadays

Anyone?
13  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Are you manufacturing custom ASIC for btc? on: December 14, 2013, 04:48:31 PM
I know of someone who is in China but he's very unfamiliar with the details as his partner does most of the dealings with the manufacturer. He's building his own ASIC farm.

Does anyone know how much it'll cost ( i know different functionalities have different costs but a range would be good) and how long to manufacture in China (if you have experience?)

16  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is GPU mining for bitcoins obsolete? on: December 06, 2013, 09:10:55 AM
What about peercoins? Can those be mined using GPU or is ASIC a must?
PPC is SHA256 based. In other words, an ASIC is necesarry. With a GPU you can only reasonably mine SCRYPT based currencies, e.g. LTC, FTC, DGC etc.

Is PPcoin mining prevalent? With the cost of ASIC miners. Mining PPCoin should be prohibitively expensive to many.
17  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is GPU mining for bitcoins obsolete? on: December 06, 2013, 08:47:51 AM
Yes, but you can mine for non SHA-256 coins, like LTC.
There are no ASIC competition on mining this type of coins. Yet !

19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC hit $10.000 in Q1 of 2014 ? on: December 06, 2013, 08:13:09 AM
Hello !

At this moment the price of BTC is established around of value $1000.

This is something that can't be ignored. (by the banks and business media)

It is possible that the price to raise up to $10.000 in the Q1 of 2014 ?

I watched an interview where the respondent said the 1st wave of investors were the common folk, 2nd wave which has already taken place are the VCs(venture capitalists), 3rd wave which he predicted would be next year are the Wall Street banks. Given a that few banks already have stakes in BTC and that only 1/10 people know of bitcoins so far. The growth potential is great.

Just my opinion.

If someone could give an opinion with their rationale that would be great.

HI,

Is GPU mining for bitcoins obsolete given the ascent of ASIC miners?
