1  Other / Meta / Re: Worked our ASSES off to promote Bitcoin 16 hours/ day for 2 years. Today, banned on: August 19, 2015, 08:13:26 AM

I haven't decided my stance on that whole discussion.  But the way it's been handled is biasing the debate, as well preventing innovation.  It's contradictory to everything that Bitcoin is about.

Amen!! :-)

Plus it just gives fuel for rumor spreading and further divides the community when we all should work together to find a good solution!

Regarding /r/bitcoin:

Some people argue that "It's his playground, he can do what he want. Start a new reddit if you don't like it."
Technically and legaly I 100% agree. But from an ethical and moral point of view, I really think that you should respect your community and not censor things. ESPECIALLY if you are in control of one of the most important sources for information (during a major event).

However, Theymos has made a CLEAR statement that he doesn't care about the communities view about things, he rather have them leave. 90%+ wanted thing to change in a poll that had MASSIVE response. That poll is now gone with SO many other threads!

Regarding bitcointalk:

Much of the same logic applies here as well. I think the question we all should ask us;
- Where do we want to communicate?
On a platform with one dictator that make all the decisions (and one that has stated that he want 90% of the community to leave if the do not agree with his view of things), or should we try to find a place where things like this is handled in a more democratic way?

This is not only about communication, it's also about who will earn money on that site....

Regarding Mastercoin:

I really don't know anything about it, but I think the recent events regarding xt is more than enough to question Theymos actions and position!
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Bitcoin XT (is there any difference to the average person) on: August 18, 2015, 08:16:56 PM
Well, I think others can describe the technical details better than me, but I can add one thing:

You can not talk about Bitcoin XT! You will be banned!  Huh  Shocked

This is the way theymos (who controls both this site and /r/bitcoin) exercise his control to promote his view on things...
Very sad when someone who is control of the majority of the information structures for bitcoin does things like this.

I have not made up my mind about xt, but I support it for now just because of this absurd censorship situation.

The only thing I know for sure is that the bitcoin community needs to find new ways to communicate, without censorship!

4  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos (operator of Bitcointalk and Bitcoin subreddit) is censoring Bitcoin XT on: August 16, 2015, 11:37:23 PM
Logged in here for the first time in many months just to express what I have learnt today when I was trying to educate myself about blocksizes and bitcoinxt (on r/bitcoin):

1. (Some of) the people who are against XT is pro-censorship!

2. I can not trust this r/bitcoin for information anymore (and I'm not sure about bitcointalk anymore either)....

I really don't buy the arguments about bitcoinxt being a altcoin, and even if it is/was it's just something to big to try to silence through censorship...

A lot of people, including me are trying to understand what is going on and when "one side" use the same techniques as China uses to control their ppl, I really do not trust that  "side", although I understand most ppl, doesn't agree with Theymos actions...

I just was BANNED from r/bitcoin for mentioning bitcoinxt in a comment(!!!) and I'm quite worried what will happen here now since the same person is making the decission!.

Hej,
