1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Change of plan.... on: November 23, 2013, 12:12:44 PM
I haven't no, are they reasonably easy to use? I'll be honest I've been f**king around trying to sort out a paper wallet for about 3 weeks in my spare time and I've lost a lot of patience, my frustration is compounded by the fact my OS is in a language I'm not particularly good at, which I also can't change.

Sorry had to vent  Cheesy

Anyway, so you recommend bitaddress. I'll have a look, thanks.

OK, so I had a look at this and it sounds reasonably easy, which makes me suspicious lol. But OK, I'm curious how the bitcoin is related to the address, as in where is it stored, if that makes sense? It seems a bit abstract and my brain doesn't function well in the abstract so if you could give me some kind of analogy I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for your help by the way Smiley

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Change of plan.... on: November 23, 2013, 11:29:52 AM
OK, I started off trying to make a paper wallet or pendrive wallet. But for reasons that baffle and frustrate me, I'm incapable of dual booting linux onto my computer to enable this, all the while the price continues to rise so feel I'm wasting valuable time.

So unless someone has a much simpler and less frustrating way to create said wallets, what would you guys recommend as the safest, easiest and quickest way to buy bitcoins online. With the consideration that my plan was just to buy then to hold onto them for, I'd imagine, a couple of years.

I'd be grateful for as many opinions as possible and the reasoning behind them to make the most informed choice. For example mtgox vs localbitcoin etc.

Thanks for any advice in advance guys.  Smiley
4  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Polish bank accounts? on: November 16, 2013, 09:37:36 PM
I have lived in Poland for about 10 years, it's possibly because of the sheer number of different banks, well over 50 last time I checked. With such compitition perhaps they have to offer something others can't/wont. Also Poland's MASSIVELY into tech, up there with the world leaders.

How are they going to be able to keep their prices relevant with the value changing so quickly?

Obviously this is relevant when it comes to making their use mainstream.

I'll give it a go though.

Thanks for the replies guys I appreciate it  Smiley

I was thinking about just getting a bitcoin or 2 and sitting on them for a while to begin with, and see where the wind takes me so to speak, I can kinda see the value increasing a fair amount, certainly if any major companies start using them for transactions, and people create easier and safer ways for the masses to use and store them, I just want to get in there early Smiley So I don't need to be able to access them so freely.

I have read about the paper wallets, but it seemed even more complicated than this lol Maybe it was a bad description or I just don't understand it.

So with this in mind, I would prefer them stored away from the net, so to speak. So if you have any simpler ways of doing it I'd appreciate it.  Smiley

Also, I was curious how do you know that you have 1 bitcoin, for example, it's not like having a $100 bill, you know what it is (unless of course it's a decent counterfeit). I'm not sure if I explained that well but hopefully someone will understand  Smiley

Hey guys.

OK obviously as I have just joined so my activity is restricted. I have many questions as I'm still trying to get my head around how to buy bitcoins in a reasonably safe way. At the moment I'm also trying to understand how to store the bitcoins, so would like to start with asking people's opinions on this:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_set_up_a_secure_offline_savings_wallet

In your opinions, is this a reasonable method of storing bitcoins? Also I don't know what "Bitcoin Linux binary" is.

Thanks in advance for your answers but could you please translate the technical jargon into layman terms as much as possible my knowledge of computers is average at best.

Thanks  Grin
