1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help buying bitcoins. I keep failing. on: February 09, 2014, 03:03:31 PM
VirWoX is very expensive to buy BTC.  I set up my VirWoX account, bought SLL with USD from Paypal, then bought BTC with SLL, then withdrew the BTC to my wallet.  VirWoX hits you with transaction fees with each step, After all was said and done, my $100 was converted to $80 worth of BTC by the time it got to my wallet (at the same USD/BTC exchange rate).  20% in transaction cost seems very expensive to me.

Are there any other Paypal to BTC options that are less of a ripoff?

You can try bcchanger and localbitcoin, however, it may take hours/days depending on who you buy from. As far as instant payments go, VirWoX seems to be the only place at the moment. (Aside from the first time 48 hour delay.)
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: February 04, 2014, 06:07:17 AM
Don't know what's going on with hashcows but I pointed my 4MH/s rig at it for 12 hours yesterday instead of self directed mining or middlecoin... after 12 hours it stated I only had about 0.005BTC, which is way lower then the normal .05-.07 BTC I get from 1 day of middlecoin... So I stopped and switched to something different, never got a payout, but expected my confirmed balance to increase as coins were auto traded.  Now it shows my hashcow balance at 0.00095669BTC.  Still no payout WTF!

I don't know what's up with the payouts either. I switched to middlecoin for a while until hashcows is back to normal.

I've been mining at 620kh/s, but only made about 0.0016 today. That's a tenth of what I was making a month ago... Is there really that much more competition, or is everyone making less also?

I'm gonna give it a try. Was mining only LTC at wemineltc but meh, decided it was time to change things a little and try an profit-switch pool
Hope i can earn some btc's as well

currently pointing out 3.6~3.8 Mh/s

Edit: Btw, am i reading this correctly?

Pool: 1,911 Mh/s
Network: 934 Mh/s
My Hashrate: 3,765.0 Kh/s
DGC

So i have almost twice the Hashrate of the entire pool? What the hell?
There's a difference between KH and MH. Smiley

Just curious, are the estimates 100% accurate at the moment? I'm not sure mine are...

We are working on the estimates for unexchanged and exchanged as we speak, you should see these numbers be somewhat correct now!

Also like nearmiss stated mobile version of the site now works and last but not least the profit per MH graph will be back up hopefully tonight.

Finally making some progress on brining back all the cool features! Smiley

Thanks for all the great work guys. Smiley

My original plan was to wait until the site got a security upgrade to mine again, so I wouldn't risk losing any more than I've already lost; but seen as how it's been quite a while, I guess I might as well go for it.

Where can you even exchange DOGE if you were holding them?

Bter and BTC-e both don't have it.
Good point; where do the cows go to trade these coins?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: December 19, 2013, 11:52:41 PM
I personally keep all my doge and I encourage people to do the same. The good thing about us is we give every person the option to keep or auto-sell.

I agree that more people should hold and see how high this thing can go!

Hashcows loves dogecoin!

Dogecoin will fall as quickly as it became popular if we keep auto-selling them as soon as mine them. That being said, I'm making three times as much as I was before doge, so let's see how long we can keep it going!
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price at end of 2014? on: December 19, 2013, 05:50:25 PM
Ups and downs in between? common guys speculate thats what we are here for

Okay completely wild numbers...

Short term (now to mid Jan 2014) I expect a drop -- a sharp one.  Longer term, up up and away.  Wall Street has funds that are all about buying it.  Political stuff could introduce some speed bumps.  But here are the 3 predictions:

#1 -- Drop to around $375 between now and January 20, 2014.

#2 -- Increase to over $1800 by May 30, 2014.

#4 -- End 2014 in the $2500 to $3000 range.

Okay, quoting myself here now, I'm going to go ahead and assert that #1 above has now come to fruition.  I see Bitstamp touched 382.21 last night which technically is not $375, but I did say around $375, so I think it qualifies.  (Camp BX claims it hit $300, but I'm not sure it technically qualifies as an exchange.)

Now it's time to buy with both hands. :-)

Out of all the wild guesses here, this one seems to be the most likely. $2,000-$3,000 seems about right for the end of 2014, assuming it becomes more widely accepted by big corporations. I doubt it will rise up to $50,000 in only a year, despite previous percentage increases. A demand that high would enable even a small time miner such as myself to afford a new house. Sorry. The US economy alone would likely collapse. (Just a theory.) If not that, then I can guarantee you the value of the dollar will sink dramatically. Of course, if bitcoin reached $50,000 in the next seven years slowly over time, things might go more smoothly; but it's going to take longer than a year.

It seems the bitcoin exchange isn't working either... It says I have 0.02 not traded..

I'm hanging in there though. Hopefully it won't be much longer till everything's back to normal.

Quick update:
-Est/confirmed exchanged #'s will be innacurate for a bit, while we continue to work on tweaking them on the back-end.
-SXC is indeed very profitable but round #5166 was thrown off by 2 stuck orders way above the current price. Though as you can see at current CORRECT prices it's profitability is over 140.

Moo
Glad I read this; I was worried my miner wasn't working.

Is it just me, or does it seem WDC is almost always more profitable than other coins? Tongue Or does it just seem that way because those are generally longer rounds?

Pool down again?
Was about to say the same thing. It was just momentary I assume.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Estimate for bitcoin value in early January? on: December 09, 2013, 02:37:43 AM
Barring another irrational panic incident, I'm guessing somewhere within 10% of the ATH.
Wasn't the highest peek something like $1,500? (Or close to that?)

Depends where you look. Localbitcoins was over $2000 a few times.
Holy cow. It would be great if it reached that price again!  Cheesy

17  Economy / Speculation / Estimate for bitcoin value in early January? on: December 09, 2013, 02:09:50 AM
Is it likely to be back at gold price by then, or exceed it? I'm hoping it won't be much less by that time...I've made some plans that kind of depend on it.
18  Other / Meta / Cannot change avatar? on: December 09, 2013, 12:34:55 AM
Tried to use a custom avatar; wouldn't work. Tried to set Bob Marley as my avatar from the presets; wouldn't work. Is this a glitch in the site or do I just not have permission yet?  Undecided

Did the dolphins leave yet?
Yup. But at least they thanked us for all the fish.
