2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When you need clothes, food, rent, a car. Your go to currency is not Bitcoin... on: October 06, 2014, 10:44:23 AM
That's why I'm worried if there's another financial decline, people will sell their bitcoins for fiat to buy food and other essentials.

How long does the newest client take to start? I've done all the stuff including replacing the wallet.dat file and now it's stuck on rescanning at startup

EDIT: Working now but my balance is completely wrong, I had at least 1.7B now I only have 16M and 4M incoming, and I'm fully synced

Thanks that worked mostly, still says 47M incoming still though what's happened there?
need wait wallet fully sync

It is fully synced

Have Swisscex updated to the latest client?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help! Someone it's stealing my bitcoin on: April 10, 2014, 06:27:36 AM
Wait so does that mean I'm all good? The problem was I've been trying to send bitcoins while my client isn't synced up so I've been checking the blockchain to see if it was all good and I noticed that transaction an started shitting my pants, because it's not synced up I didn't think I'd see a change in the balance
Y it happend to me aswell half a year ago Cheesy
Check your QT client balance though, when it's synced.
And it never hurts to move your balance to a new encrypted wallet if you have doubts.

I think  you're right, the transaction in the new address is the same as one i sent to my wallet a while back minus the 0.02 I actually authorised to send.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help! Someone it's stealing my bitcoin on: April 10, 2014, 06:15:04 AM
It's a new address, owned by your own client.
bitcoin-qt uses a previous incoming transaction to spend on a new transaction. If you send less, you will receive change in a new address. If a hacker got access to your wallet, it would be empty.

Your QT client used this transaction:
https://blockchain.info/tx/d34f3da4776d2511d4ca207f7f2b64ee0fbbee787cebdd4ce9ff6b30bac08790

to spend on your last transaction. The change (849 mBTC) got sent to a new address, owned by your own client.
This is why your QT client displays the correct balance, but the blockchain of your 'main' wallet address doesn't.

I'm really confused now because I did mean to send the 0.02 bitcoin but for some reason it's part of the 0.84945 that left my account too, somehow they were sent at the same time, did i pay some weird miner fee?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help! Someone it's stealing my bitcoin on: April 10, 2014, 06:08:13 AM
Where do I move them? I'm worried my whole computer is compromised
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Help! Someone it's stealing my bitcoin on: April 10, 2014, 06:06:03 AM

If you had some software that could analyse skill level and then match players accordingly could that deal with cheaters? If there is software out there people can use to cheat then we must be able to analyse skill level too.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

I think we're getting closer to winning
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's get Mike Maloney in the Bitcoin Team on: March 27, 2014, 08:47:13 AM
Mike Maloney is a man of the free market, I don't think he would align himself with just bitcoin or any other specific cryptocurrency, his position probably is let the free market sort it out and see what reigns supreme at the end.

Anarchists: Pseudo-Intellectuals with no understanding of economics

EDIT: Talking about anarchists as described by Rampion

I can be for world peace and work to promote world peace, eventhough world peace doesn't exist.

Self organisation and owning your work are good values. If you are an entrepreneur then you self organise, manage your own risk and reap the rewards of your work while answering to no-one. I don't see why people would be so opposed to those trying to find ways to empower people, give them back sovereignty and promote a world of independent self-managed individuals.

We don't always need to solve problems through centralised power structures like parliaments. There are other ways we can govern ourselves on a local level, flowing like water. It works for me and others, and part of the work is to grow this mindset in a population that is constantly being bombarded and brainwashed. If you taught every child how to make a business, people will be more free and there will be less wage slaves.

Hakuna matata.

I'm an AnCap/Voluntarist/Agorist and agree with everything you posted, I'm just hating on anarchists of the mutualist and anarcho-syndicalist variety

Libertarians: Anarchists minus critical thinking about capitalism.

Apparently this guy is doing an interview with the real Satoshi tomorrow as well, how do so many idiots get into prominent positions in the bitcoin community?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan to regulate and tax bitcoin trades -- Good or bad news? on: March 08, 2014, 11:37:51 AM
The problem with Bitcoin isn't the lack of regulation, it's the amounts of hoops you have to jump through to be able to implement it in your business. If people were allowed to create things without massive oversight from the government then we might actually get a decent trustworthy exchange instead of having to use services located in different countries.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGOX whistleblower...the plot thickens. on: March 08, 2014, 11:10:02 AM
Is drinking immoral? is driving immoral?

If you own the road you are drinking and driving on then yes it's perfectly acceptable, if you're driving on someone elses road where it is outlawed then it becomes immoral
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGOX whistleblower...the plot thickens. on: March 08, 2014, 11:02:21 AM
Blackmail is effective. Whistleblowing only gets half the job done. After the whistle is blown, someone still has to apply pressure or procedure. Why not cut to the chase?

Blackmail and extortion are unethical, immoral, and for that matter, often felonious.  I need no moral lessons from those who use such tactics.

Quote
Do you really need to know the gory details of what anyone with half a brain already knows? If you see someone harming someone else, do you A) shout and spend a long time trying to get the people in power to stop them, or do you B) stop them? This obsession with information is just delaying effective action. Removing two people directly beats months of trolling by supporters and accusers which only allows the next shyster to take over.

If this guy expects any support, he really needs to demonstrate specifically that Vessenes and Matonis specifically are the root of the problem and actually need to be removed rather than simply resolve their conflicts of interest.  I think if he could do that, he would have already.  He can't, so instead, he blusters.

"Obsession with information," basically meaning "don't bother me with facts," does not impress me much as an argument.

I have a very low regard for extortionists, and almost as low a regard for those who claim to have staggering revelations at their fingertips, but the dog ate their homework or they have some other bullshit excuse why they can't just say the truth they claim to have.

What is immoral about blackmail? Is it immoral to keep secrets? Is it immoral to accept money? What makes accepting money to keep a secret immoral? Do you not like black males?
