1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 03, 2018, 04:14:16 PM

Sellwal:

300 BTC shot @ 9197 on Stamp....vapourised.

I participated in that... After half went in a single bite.  I’m temporarily back in bull mode. For better or worse.

Have you bought higher than you sold??

Nope.  I’m defending my profits.  Do you think it’s a bull trap?

I thought you had sold and rebought higher, sorry (Now I think that is Rosewater, at least the sold part).

No, I don't think it is a bull trap... but what do I know.

On CMC, it shows the volume decreasing though. That's a bit worrying to me. Could be a bull trap, in that case.

Day chart shows a nice hammer bottom candle.

No true 'crash' yet: still just an orderly correction. Long overdue correction, I might add.

Pop quiz: Convince an average low/middle class fiat-loving law-abiding person that they should use bitcoin without talking about its price or making profit by trading it.

The people you've described tend to be very very stupid, or at least simple-minded. Sheep in general. They believe that government and establishment will help them out, if they only vote for the right politicians.

They think that the best way to make money is to put it in a bank and lose 3% purchasing power each year, despite interest, or to invest in some conservative mutual funds which won't make them any real profit until they die - at least they can pass it to their children... after a hefty tax.

Or maybe they just love being slaves.

EDIT with regards to your quote - if these people are fiat-loving, then you'd have to change that first. For them, Bitcoin offers no benefits because they love the government and idolize the leaders of their political philosophy in government.
Of course, these same leaders will dump them in an economic crash and tax them into oblivion.
I think the proper technical term is agreeable. It's not something you choose. Just like we didn't choose to be disagreeable.
In my experience, most of these "agreeable" people become very aggressive, and call Bitcoin a "scam" etc.

The most common concern I hear is that "Bitcoin is not controlled by anyone, therefore it's too risky". I'm not kidding.

Um, how about a little more discussion about price movement??
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The trillion dollar question: What w'd be the impact of Facebook ban on ICO Ads? on: January 31, 2018, 05:12:07 AM
All of the first items you listed were of substantial significance to the crypto community. But not the last time. Facebook is mainly a source of interpersonal gossip between people within their social group. It has never been a serious source of real information, especially about anything investment related.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Historic BITCOIN crash on: January 31, 2018, 05:08:06 AM
let me remind you of this, that this is not the first time bitcoin has crashed very significantly and is not the worst of it all. (correct me if i'm wrong) Based on bitcoin history, crashes occur on:

2011 jun- Nov: -97%---> From $ 32 to $ 2
2012 jan - Aug: -36%---> From from $ 7 to $ 4
2013 Mar 6 -11: -25%---> From $ 49 to $ 36
2013 Apr 10: -79%---> From $ 266 to $ 54
2014 Feb 24: -49%---> From $ 867 to $ 439
2017 jun 11-16: -36%---> From $ 3,000 to $ 1.869
2017 Sept 2-15: -40%---> From $ 5,000 to $ 2,972
2018 Jan 17: -48%---> From $ 19,783 to $ 9,496

If viewed from history, crashes often happen every year since 2011 and proved that this year is not the worst year of the year - the year before. What do you think, whether this crash will continue or not?

Thanks for the historical perspective. Too many people get caught up in the nominal dollar amount of the recent correction without realizing it's really quite small on a percentage basis.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bloody Markets on: January 31, 2018, 04:34:29 AM
This correction has been a long time in coming. If you've been patient enough to wait this long, then there's no harm in waiting a little longer. When you do buy, just remember to buy several coins. Don't just concentrate into a single one or you'll be subject to the vagaries of it's particular movements.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is going down this few weeks? on: January 31, 2018, 04:28:22 AM
Everything to do with the Bitcoin futures markets that opened in Dec 2017.  Contracts are settling about now, would think between once settled and the next futures contracts in Feb 2018, will see BTC gains.  A time for whales and hodlers as weak hands are shaken about.

Absolutely agree. Most people don't realize that Bitcoin futures mean that traders can now go short Bitcoin. That means they can essentially buy -1 Bitcoin and make money when it goes down.

That has resulted in an entirely new dynamic in the market place. Previously, the only way to push the price down was to sell Bitcoin that you had already bought earlier. But now, traders can sell Bitcoin that they never even bought before.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin is going down this few weeks? on: January 31, 2018, 03:40:44 AM
This is an entirely expected correction. It is simply taking out the froth in the market. Just look at all the panic posts on this forum where people are worried "should I sell now and save what's left??"  That's called shaking out the weak hands. It's a normal part of markets.
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price fluctuation on: January 31, 2018, 03:27:11 AM
Will bitcoin price ever cease to fluctuate so hard? I mean currently it seems as if it's fluctuating just because of the trends among people who believe that investing into bitcoin, given some time, is 100% profit. But what if the so called bubble would burst, shouldn't the price get more stable?

The fluctuations on a percentage basis are definitely decreasing.
This is a normal process of price discovery for a new asset.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: eth going strong on: January 31, 2018, 03:03:06 AM
Ethereum has been holding out pretty good, surprisingly considering that everything have been going down recently.

Acguy is correct. The relative strength of ETH is very notable. BTC on a
solid down trend. Ripple just tanking. But ETC is holding steady.
11  Economy / Services / Re: !!!proven trading signals - not pump on: January 31, 2018, 02:53:46 AM
BTW, anyone who has traded professionally for any length of time will tell you... there is no trading signal system that can fix a lack of skill or poor psychology. So when you buy into trading systems, ask yourself if the problem is your own mindset first!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: eth going strong on: January 31, 2018, 02:46:39 AM
Etereum is the basis for all these icos. All will cause more transactions that will push the price up. And i will hold up some time until it has to release at a price that I think is profitable.

Incorrect. ICO transactions push the price of ETH down. Each ICO causes money to flow
out of ETH and into the ICO. That lowers the price.
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How To Make Money From The Bitcoin Crash on: January 31, 2018, 02:12:44 AM
Just incase theres really a Bitcoin crash, we can just sell our Bitcoins in USDT. Wait for Bitcoin to reach $1000 and rebuy BTC using the money you hedge in USDT. I am sure you will double the number of your Bitcoins. So when BTC goes back from current price, you should have plenty of money.

Hi everyone,

I am not interested in trying to guess when BTC crashes, everyone knows it will one day, I want to figure out how to make money from the crash.

Any ideas?

Or you can just go short with the new Bitcoin Futures contracts on the CME and CBOE. Then you make money on the way down.

More importantly, you DON'T have to buy back in and wait for it to go back up before making money. Yup, that's a whole lot smarter, if you think Bitcoin is going to be crashing.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: eth going strong on: January 31, 2018, 01:57:12 AM
of course Eth is good, I already predict that eth price will match BCH and BTC price for the future it may be Wink

Don't forget to adjust nominal price to market cap. It looks like ETH is only 10% the nominal price of BTC. But that's because you need to multiply by the number of available coins, which gives you the actual market cap. In terms of market cap, ETH is actually already 61% of the the price of BTC!
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2018, 01:49:45 AM
Noticing that all the "hype coins" are taking the hardest hit.  I'm beginning to speculate which one will be the next to implode.

Ripple is definitely taking a disproportionate hit.  If there was ever a definition of 'Froth', that would be it.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will the market pick up again?? on: January 23, 2018, 06:32:14 AM
A correction like this has been a long time in coming. It is perfectly normal for any asset that's been going straight up to blow off some of the froth and steam. It's actually healthy for it.

What's happening now is that the weak hands are being shaken out. Liquidation breaks like this ultimately strengthen the market by removing sellers. Its like how small earthquakes relieve pressure on a fault and prevent a much bigger, catastrophic quake later.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 23, 2018, 06:13:06 AM
Ugh. Screw this downward momentum.

Got a bad feeling in my gut just now...

Figures. The act of me moving my next batch of coin onto an exchange caused the price to retreat.

That's muh story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Sheeit.

All told, it still just looks like an orderly correction. This isn't a panic sell. This isn't a 'capitulation'. Sure, the weak hands are being squeezed. But it's not yet selling at any price.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Blood bath! Bubble burst? on: January 23, 2018, 06:03:59 AM
Sounds like you newbies to investing are discovering the meaning of the word RISK. That's right kids: sometimes an asset doesn't just keep going up. What did you expect?

Anyone that's been investing for any amount of time knows that investments 'test' their holders at some point. If you can't stand this relatively small amount of heat, then you shouldn't have been investing to begin with. Otherwise, you'll just get shaken out at the worst point, at the point of maximum pain.

Noone knows where the 'bottom' is. No technical analysis can tell you where that point will be. The only thing you can control is appropriate position size relative to your psychological constitution.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ICO will take off on: January 23, 2018, 05:46:44 AM
Yes its true. So many ICO's that came out and give us so many opportunities here in crypto currency world. For me instead of investing I should join their bounty to get rewarded and claim free tokens/coins. Smiley.. Better idea huh

Bounties may be less risk. But also much less reward and upside...

I read something about it that you can put avatar on your profile...

As I said above, that's not correct. Avatars are not enabled until you are a Full Member (not to be confused with just Member).
