1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Qt Bitcoin Trader [Open Source secure trading client for Mac/Windows/Linux] on: January 02, 2014, 03:31:44 AM
I'm still running into issues where my all-in buy limit order does not go through, about half the time.

I wonder if this is due to the way Bitstamp calculates it's trading fee. I notice that when the buy-in does not go through, if I move the 0.0X digit one lower and it always goes through.

See below from: https://www.bitstamp.net/fee_schedule/

Quote
FEE ROUNDING We kindly ask our users to take note on Bitstamp's policy regarding fee calculation. As our fees are calculated to two decimal places, all fees which might exceed this limitation are rounded up. The rounding up is executed in such a way, that the second decimal digit is always one digit value higher than it was before the rounding up. For example; a fee of 0.111 will be charged as 0.12.

Ighor, could you please respond to my earlier question?

Anyone else on Bitstamp having problems with submitting all-in bids?

I want to report a bug with the Repeat Buy order and Repeat Sell order, an option from the context menu in "My Open Orders".

As I understand the feature, it takes the selected order and copy pastes the BTC amount and sales price to the big BUY and SELL screens in the bottom left corner. The program seems to be picking up the wrong order. I wonder if it happened because I sorted "My Open Orders" by Price and/or by date and it threw the system off. I know this is not a very technical bug report but I uploaded some images to an imgur album:

Hi!

Just want to say thanks for the great work!

One issue though.  When I place a buy order through the client, the buy orders don't show and never go through.  I checked my API access and it should allow the client to purchase.  This is all through Bitstamp.  Everything else seems to work fine.  Any suggestions?

Buy orders won't go through if you don't have enough cash. Sometimes the rounding is off. Try reducing the amount spent by $0.01 or $0.10 and see if it goes through then.

Sorry for the new burst of slowness, again. Should be all set up tomorrow night. Still putting new miners together, rest of parts come in today.
Are you LTC mining or BTC?

I have re-uploaded the transcript in .DOC format. I'm sorry that there was a few day lag time between Kluge messaging me and me looking into Bitcointalk Forums to see the PM.

I wonder if there is some email notification settings I can change?

I wouldn't call them good solutions, because of lack of volume, but coinmkt.com is based in the US. I may try to use Ripple to deposit and withdraw with Bitstamp.net, but I'm not quite sure how great an idea that is yet.

There's also a Canadian exchange vaultofsatoshi.com. I think that is also suffering from low volume.

I did notice that campbx was extremely low volume yesterday (picking up today), probably due to the problems from Monday.
Yeah, It's kind of hard to trade on a site when you can't log in.  Grin

Thanks for the leads

Anytime! Meanwhile, CampBX's uptime has been much improved since Monday. I've been trading at various times during the day and haven't had any problems. Although they haven't been able to verify me still :/

Let me know if you try another exchange and what your experience is like!

11  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ACH yet at CampBX on: December 04, 2013, 05:05:41 AM
CampBX is inept.  I expect them to disappear with customer funds any day now.

They may not have enough brawn to keep up with demand, but that's a big jump to call them scammers.
12  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: campbx customers service is AWFUL on: December 03, 2013, 06:23:51 PM
I e-mailed them back asking what the minimum for a deposit was, and was told that they accept any amount.

I'm honestly not sure if they even know what they accept.

If you use campbx, use delivery confirmation for sure-- or they will lose your money order and claim they've never lost a money order.

I used USPS for my money order and talked with the Postal Service agent at the register. He said that if they never cash the money order on the other side (gets lost in the mail, etc.), that I can return with the receipt and the money order stub and get my money back.

Also I think you can buy a money order on credit card? (I used cash). I might try this, and it might be dangerous.
13  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ACH yet at CampBX on: December 03, 2013, 06:12:27 PM
Their site has been mostly down for the last 20 hours. I wonder if they were trying to implement the ACH system and it didn't go so well...

I know that as of Sunday they did not have the ACH deposit enabled.
14  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Vault of Satoshi - New Exchange on: December 03, 2013, 01:17:19 PM
I was hoping they would be successful, but they have so far refused to fix their contact information. For some reason, they want to avoid telling people to mail stuff to an obvious P.O. Box (so they disguised the real address with a fake address).

After that red flag, I tried to get a copy of their corporate registration (which should have their actual address). They do not appear to be registered in the Province of Ontario. I used this service for the look-up. I have not done too many such look-ups in the past, so I may have missed something. That is two red flags.

I am not ready to yell "scam!" just yet though.

Thank you for your investigations. Keep us posted!

I've been looking for an exchange that has reliable uptime. CampBX is having some issues... so a little competition is never a bad thing.
15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase - serious issues..... on: December 03, 2013, 05:30:34 AM
I can't even login to CampBX today ... anybody else doing ANYTHING with them now?

I came here to bitch about CampBX, but... but it actually makes me feel better that CoinBase is having issues as well. Hopefully these are growing pains and both sites get the much needed infrastructure to carry us into 2014. It's going to be a big year!
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Alternatives to CampBX.com; Need US friendly bitcoin exchange on: December 03, 2013, 05:00:25 AM
I really like the interface of CampBX. Very powerful, yet simple. Problem is server up times and customer service. They have been mostly down all day today... and this is their best attempt at Customer Service: https://www.facebook.com/CampBX/posts/694292767249844

Bitcoin Wisdom (http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/campbx/btcusd) shows only two trades went through between now and 5:50pm EST. That's extremely unacceptable. Can't even log on to pull BTC out of the service.

CampBX needs a lot more infrastructure: in both equipment and human resources. Hopefully one day they will get it sorted out.

Anyone know US friendly pure exchanges like this one?

I have finally finished the 75 minute transcription for Episode 06. Sorry it took so long, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. That being said, I'm more than happy to change anything that comes up from the proofread. Let me know!

Thanks Kluge for your time. I'll give my transcript one more read through and see if I can't make those changes consistent throughout. I think I tried to stay away from colons, but it seems like you favor them in some spots where I would put a hyphen. I was using the hyphen in spots where the sentence was interrupted by a tangent thought - speaking of tangents, there was this one time in Calculus class - but then reverts back to the original line of thinking.

I do like your suggestion to use the colon where the subsequent idea is a 'furthermore' or an 'i.e.', if that makes sense.

Anyway I'm all but done except for self-corrections round 2.

P.S. BitcoinTalk was hacked again so make sure you change your password, but first be sure that you are connecting to IP 109.201.133.195 (i think the login page prompts you of this.) You can also check out the certificate fingerprint is

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / ESPN College Game Day Sign Shows Bitcoin QR Code. Gets 22+ BTC in Donations! on: December 01, 2013, 03:24:49 PM
This is big in /r/Bitcoin but I didn't see it here. Someone in the crowd hoists a sign in the background asking Mom to please send Bitcoin. Redditors enhance the image and post the public address. Donations quickly shot up to 0.2 BTC, but 24 hours later, the wallet has a staggering balance of 22.43430668 BTC, at the time of writing this post.

Articles submitted beyond this line will be rejected without pay (until it's resubmitted with proper modifications) if they regularly start sentences with conjunctions

I have a question on the conjunctions. I'm about 50 min into 1:17 of episode 6, and I'm having a little bit of trouble with the way Jeffrey Tucker speaks. Specifically, he uses a lot of sentence fragments that are strung together with conjunctions or filler words like *and* or *you know*. I try to cut them out when I can but sometimes the 'You Knows' seem to capture Jeffrey's speaking style, and sometimes they seem as just filler.

Which is better:

I also find myself using a lot of commas. JT tends to put short pauses between thoughts and I am not sure whether to use commas or periods. I'm wondering if it is just better to have a lot of short sentences or a long sentence with commas for the pauses.

That probably wasn't the best example, but hopefully you can see what I'm talking about.

Note: I absolutely love his analysis of economics and bitcoin. I'm really glad I was able to sit down and write this transcript because he brings up so many good points of view that I didn't pick up on when I was listening to the podcast.
