I am sure that it will happen, this is why I am investing in bitcoin now. When that happens it will be higher than $50.000. It will be probably world's only cryptocurrency with lightening network and others will be trash.
The price of bitcoins is influenced and will continue to be influenced by several opposite factors. Yes, the network of lightning is promised to be introduced in large numbers from September this year and this can give a strong impetus to its development and growth in price. On the other hand, Mt. Gox from Tokyo, in September, can again throw out its 180,000 bitcoins on the market, and then bitcoin is likely to fall even with the lightning network embedded in it. In addition, recently there was information that he was already going to do it and was preparing his first shipment of 7,000 bitcoins. Therefore it is rather difficult now to say what will happen to the bitcoin price this year. Excellent post...your thoughts are what I am thinking also. |

Lightning Network was launched quite a long time ago on Bitcoin testnet. Now, it is available also for mainnet. As someone mentioned earlier, there are about 1000 nodes right now, it's a huge number especially if you take into account that there aren't many services which accept Lightning Network payments. It is probably because it's still experimental feature. A few days ago, lnd released first easy-to-use mainnet client for Lightning Network. I still haven't tested it since I don't have a local copy of a full node.
I have tested Lightning Network when it was only available for the testnet and I was amazed how fast BTC payments can be. You still have to broadcast a transaction when you open and close channel but it is definitely a huge step forward.

If you look at his channel, it seems as very successful one where basically every his video gets lots of views, which comes to my mind that some people simply listened without having interest in the first place. He just point out how "bad" mining is, and problems with stability - their are simply facts and they are true. Things will change as we get more exposure. He obviously is trying to sell the course at end and all of this is just introduction into buying - spent 10mins of my day for nothing  I am not happy about the video and when I saw that over half a million had viewed it I was not happy. |

The way I see it without the lightening network BTC will struggle.
If lightening comes into play and works BTC would make a great investment if you buy it in this bear cycle.
In my opinion we might see a low of 6500 approx over the next few months because of Mt Gox.
Looking for long term strategy to jump in...What do you guys think.
Or, should I look at another coin?
As far as I know there is no implementation release date yet but it has its beta release on March 15. The devs are really trying to stress test the system so that we can say that it will be very stable when it will finally be rolled out. Yea, totally agree with you that it will really push bitcoin and maybe see another massive bull run. But I disagree with your thoughts of seeing bitcoin going to $6500. There are strong support at $8500 already so I don't think it will go further than $7K-$7500. Well Bitcoin is good for long term so why invest right now when the price is still very cheap and see it grow exponentially in the next couple of years? Thanks It will happen, its started since last year but it did not happen. Many people are expecting this, but it did not happen.Hope this time this will be implemented and we will see bitcoin price will shoot up. |

In my opinion you can not expect much this year except sideways movement with some pump and dumps.
A lot of people are dubious hence the predicament!
There are so many things that have lead to this.....FB, Google, pump and dumps, whales, statements by coin founders, Tether, shady ICOs, the list goes on and on.....

Let’s face it buying and selling cryptos is scary for most people.
Big investors are sitting on the sideline scratching their heads and not prepared to make a commitment.
This industry is in Limbo and can’t find a path!
Exceptional projects will succeed and to be honest it’s hard to find one.
Many projects that have made promises will never deliver: The promoters are just living their lives with the ICO capital. You can think you own a coin that is good but maybe the promoters are just feeding everyone BS.
[I agree completely with you and the main problem is the new coins popping up every week. New investors will think twice about investing when reading about scams taking place.
Crypto has gone into a POS & MN phase and people are cashing in, investors as well as coin dev's. 2 coins in the last 3 months i know of where the dev dumped and walked away with pockets filled with money and i'm sure there are more coins this has happened with. Its just too easy to create a coin and steal peoples money and that's what will scare people away.
Find a coin that has a good team behind it, has a solid foundation and is in it for the people. ]

Volatility is in fact a blessing in disguise. For you, it might be horrible, but for some of us that are good in trading, its like a blessing to earn significant profits from time to time.
I disagree with you. My opinion is that the cryptocurrency has a slightly different purpose than just a tool for speculation. Although at the moment it allows many to make a significant profit. The general trend of the market is still down so at this point it should be careful in investing or trading. The market will be better in April and 5 so now when the market drops crypto you can buy and hold until the market grows again. What is your optimism based on....Zero! |
