1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][OFFICIAL] Garlicoin - Reddit's Garlic Bread Worshiping Currency on: February 11, 2018, 09:05:19 PM
I wonder when the developers will consider they got enough coins with their ASICS and finally proceed with the fork.

Before you take your pitchfork just hear me out:
1) They chose Scrypt-N over any other algorithm, even though they have been warned that scrypt-n is easily mineable with asics and they have been shown many Vertcoin posts (a scrypt-n coin) about people using asics.
2) When people complained about Asics, they kept saying it is just FUD, and ASICS can't and won't be able to mine scrypt-n.
3) After a reddit user posted detailed instructions and screenshots of how he is using his ASIC to mine scrypt-n, the developers said nevermind, it is just one guy, we will bump the N factor or change the algorithm.
4) After so many days, with a lot of ASICS on the network, they still do their best not to bump the N factor or use a well known developed algorithm and chose to develop their own algorithm(which of course will take a lot to develop, test and implement).

Take your own conclusion: incompetence or just buying time to make the most of their ASICS.

I wonder why are the devs still stalling with the algorithm change? It has been brought to their attention many times that Scrypt-N is prone to ASIC mining and they dismissed it as FUD. They have been warned many times even before launching the coin. Now, when we got real proof that Titan asics can easily mine Scrypt-N, they still take their time. It makes you wonder which one of the devs has an ASIC...or how many of them

there is a guy with 1,659,541 KH/s reported by pool and it keeps growing. That has got to be an ASIC, or he's got like 1300x 1080ti

When I try to open my wallet, it crashes.(Sigil-qt has stopped working). What do I need to save before reinstall so I don't lose my coins? Thanks

i GOT the same problem, You only need to save somewhere the wallet.dat file and reinstall sigil. Than replace the wallet with the old one (as with every other blockchain tool)

Is the wallet.dat from the folder where I installed it myself? Or is it like other wallets that save the file in appdata/roaming. Thank you

30 mins and no blocks. I wonder who has that much hash power that makes this pool not find a single block for 30mins

I can't mine at all. Tried to connect to the pool for about 30 mins now. It says failed to connect to www.sigilmining.com port 3333.
