1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 28, 2018, 12:33:49 PM
If the current rewards continues riding at under $0.50 / per day / per TH, I do not suspect difficulty to keep increasing.
Just look at bitcoinwisdom and their difficulty predictions... We should be holding at roughly where we are for the next little while. The next prediction has it as going up by less than 1.5%.

I personally think what has happened in the last 4 weeks when it comes to ASIC machine costs, BTC price and difficulty is great for weeding out those that were trying to make a quick buck and great for the long term health of the [Suspicious link removed]dluck trying to flip those S9s purchased for $2000+ USD now...

I just wish that the ASIC machines on the market right now were more robust. I find it extremely strange that Bitmain won't offer brand new hashboards. They would honestly make a killing and would make more money selling the parts than the whole units themselves. I could see them having no problem selling S9 boards for $400US and they would sell hundreds based on the fact that there are countless people out there right now out of warranty with dead hashboards in their machines.

I have 2 $200 coupons from them that I am selling. $30 for each one or $50 for both. Payment in ETH or BTC.
For verified long time members I will go first.

Went to high school with Trevor. He (and his twin brother) were honest, hard working, smart guys.
I just found out about this and will definitely keep an eye out. It is a brilliant concept and seems to have had a great start so far.

Extremely curious to find out what their game plan is. Is it now a massive cash grab and them getting ready to shut down shop (extreme paranoia)? I don't get how they are going to ship tens of thousands of miners in March. L3+, multiple A3 batches, multiple S9 batches...

I envy you and the setup you have going on. We need more people like you to decentralize the monopoly of Chinese mining farms.
I am curious as to where you are located and what power is like. Judging by the plaster in the walls I am guessing somewhere in the Southern USA? Smiley

Any of you guys notice they no longer have any Antminer S9s on the site? Just noticed this morning.

Don't you guys think that at 2100 watts and 11.5ths these things will take forever to break even at $2400USD? Even with relatively cheap power in Ontario, Canada of around .08-.1usd this thing is only making $7-$9USD a day. They will need 8-12 months to break even at this price point. It would be nice if they kept true to those low initial prices they used to have. Even $1500 US is a lot better than $2400.

I bought mine when they were still 1100 bucks, at this new price.....? I wouldn't buy in now IMO.

Yeppp when they were $1188 they were definitely a steal! Even at 1588 it was a good deal. This extra $700 per unit though will definitely make it harder to reach roi quickly.

A lot better than sending another wire that’s for sure. I guess let’s see if they ask or just let us slide.
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: U.S 110v PSU for Antminer S9 suggestions please on: January 30, 2018, 03:09:39 PM
This is what I don't get either. I don't understand why people are not using the Bitmain APW3+++ power supplies. Yes you will be hashing a little less (in my case most of 13.5ths batches are hashing around 12.4-12.7 with extremely low hardware errors).

As long as you are not running anything else on that 110v circuit and use proper 14awg cables for the power supply you should not run into problems. I am not an electrician but I do understand that the 14awg wiring on a 15 amp 110v circuit is rated for close to 70 degrees Celsius. I have touched the wires running by my panel and although they are very slightly warm, I have never tripped a breaker. At 100% load a 110v 15amp circuit will be able to push out 1650watts. You're going to be closer to 1400 and although you are not at the recommended 80% maximum for continuous use I am sure you are fine (this is just my opinion).
