If all these answers to this thread were true, then why don't you all just shut down all your equipment and toss it in the trash?   Undecided  Please explain why it's too late to start mining.   Roll Eyes  How long would it take if someone started today with a decent rig to make 1 BTC?  That would almost pay for all the initial outlay for the equipment.

Yes $1000 next before end 2013 and then first quarter 2014 will head
towards the $3000 mark because of all the new ASIC industrial miners
coming online then.

Here is a quote from one of the mines coming online in February:

A Hong Kong-based investment company is ramping up an ASIC mining hardware business that will drop four Petahashes (PH/s) of computing power onto the network by the end of March.

Massive Luck Investments, domiciled in Hong Kong but registered in the British Virgin Islands, has taken a 50% stake in Swiss mining hardware manufacturer Bitmine, (formerly Exion Networks), which has been designing Avalon-based mining hardware. The new venture spans ASIC hardware sales to individual customers, hosted mining, and its own private mining pool.

These coins will be mined and suppliers & shareholders will be paid in BTC but then converted to FIAT to pay some bills.
They would need to exchange it somewhere for FIAT and then cash out. Going to be an awesome time 2014 for BTC!

Freakin' Awesome!   Grin

I wanted to make sure that my BTC address comes out as I just changed it and I am sure given the current economic climate that BTC is going to move very steadily.  We just need to get all the old fogies out of office in D.C. and get some new techno-blood in there!   Cheesy

Dear beetcoin. Well the purchase can be done by 2 ways, Remotely, you are sending a notarized letter of attorney on the name of whom you trust so he can make the deal in notarized office in here OR you come here by person. Once you or your authorized person  are here, we go to notarized office and making a preselling order which describe the protocol of buying and selling deal, which describe the following: During 3 hours your side as buyer is taking a notarized responsibility transfer 200 bitcoins on my bitcoin wallet address which I am providing, and my side as seller taking responsibility to transfer the rights of ownership to buyer,  once the money is deposited on my account, again it is being confirmed by notarized office and you get full rights of the ownership of apartment, if you not deposit the money during 3 hours the agreement will be abrogated. Everything will be happening in the presence of a notary, so both sides will be protected by law, everything will be documented.

Sounds like a James Bond movie!  Will you have secure, encrypted laptops on site for the exchange?   Shocked   Grin   Roll Eyes

Hello, I have been reading these forums for a while now, finally decided to get serious.  I noticed one post from a Senior member about bitminter and I clicked on the link, registered and went to download their software but I got a message saying that this type of software can harm your computer so I discarded it.  Can anyone tell me if it is ok to use this software and what exactly it will do to my computer?  I wanted to get started somehow, I tried other miner pools like slush and btc but they weren't working.  Then I noticed lately that CPU & GPU mining is dead.  So, I am at an impasse as to how I should proceed.  One thing I did notice on my bitminter dashboard was that the computational power was 312.49 Thps and from what I have read so far, I am led to believe that that is for the total pool.  Is this a correct assumption?  Anyway, if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.  I can't wait to go to Vancouver and use the BTC ATM!   Cool

EDIT:  LOL, NOOB alert!  I went back to the the link I saw for Bitminter posted by aficionadog:

The easiest way is to start with the Bitminter (https://bitminter.com/), easy to install and simple enough to understand. Make sure to download and install the Silabs drivers first: http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx

The only problem with the Bitminter is that you have to join and mine with the Bitminter pool.

I then click on the Silabs drivers link and I assume I need to download the driver that's applicable to my operating system, is that correct?  Thanks for anyone's help.
