1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Prominerz on: October 17, 2021, 03:33:40 PM
Prominerz didn't send me the rig- but kept my $$$ from my July 2021 order 8558.
Prominerz acknowledged my order for an x11 rig, STU U6.
They received my payment and confirmed they got the funds. They never delivered my rig and never responded to several emails. SCAM!
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Feedback from buyers who have used Blokforge and Eastshore on: July 08, 2021, 10:21:54 PM
I've purchased 5 rigs from EastShore over the past 2 years. In one case they replaced a rig I bought with another model, as they had sold out of the one I ordered. The replacement was more efficient and has a slightly higher hash rate. I had to pay a bit more but it was all good.
They've always delivered. The only time they were slow was with the StrongU STU6 X11 rig. But then, all vendors were screwed up by the manufacturer's delay on that rig.
So, yesterday I ordered two S19J Pro.

Where are they being hosted? What's the cost per month for the host site?

I'm interested but only if you agree to us escrow with a trusted provider on Bitcointalk.  Here's a link to providers:

Previously, I used Ognasty to buy from an unknown seller like yourself. Everything went well.

Yes- we live in crazy times. However, we did survive the 70s... when we all felt tomorrow could be the day the nukes are unleashed. I think most of us will get through this too. I'm sorry to hear your wife has had such a hard time. Nice to see her O2 back to a normal range. My wife had a double lung transplant last fall.  We all forget how vital this organ is.

Nice to hear you have the antibodies test available there. After such a rough Winter, I hope they find antibodies in both of you. The next thing is "how long will the antibodies last"? I know they're collecting data on that. Hopefully, they last at least until a vaccine is available.

Very interesting thread, Phil. Great idea for space heaters with decent efficiency.
Please let me know when you have dashboards available for sale or if they can be purchased from the "mystery builder".

The Eth devs are so paralyzed by fear and indecision that I don't put any faith in anything from them until after it happens.

Yeah pretty much the truth.

Morons.

I haven't trusted eth from the very beginning because of it's author's, it's security (to me its on the same level of trust as Adobe flash and Java), and it's centralization.... not to mention the circulating supply growth.

I am truly amazed it went from 10-1000, and i really don't expect it to last forever....   then again, Adobe flash is still a thing coming close to 2020.....

Ethereum seems to be pretty decentralized in terms of hashrate, its why its good that its mostly GPU mineable which anyone can do. However I do agree that the rich list is very centralized. There are a handful few which control most of the coins. Its why I am not happy how it was essentially an ICO before the launch.

The security however I think its very bad because of the complexity of the coin. Basically you can compare Bitcoin to an old Mercedes Diesel from the 1980s which can go on to a million miles and you can compare Ethereum to a brand new state of the art Mercedes S class from 2019. Sure the car will have many features that the 1980s diesel doesn't however if it keeps breaking down then what is the overall point. They had that DAO hack, that smart control bug which has millions of frozen coins and other issues with the coin. Can't really trust all your life savings with ETH.

I also never expected it to hit $1400, if I did I would of never sold the bulk of all my ETH holdings at like $20 or so.

Agreed. Also, It's possible that other blockchain projects ( ie: NEO Cardano, Holochain, Hedera etc.) will surpass ETH in due course. I have bought a bit of these other projects..but not Hedera (aka: HashGraph) yet. Diversifying  might be a safer path in the long run.

Guys, quick one please:
I'm hooking up a few case fans to a rig, and they've got molex extenders.
Can I just daisy chain, say, 3 of them and power them with one single molex power cable from the PSU? Will all 3 fans run at full speed?

Yes, ive daisy chained exactly 3 fans on several occassions on one molex, work perfectly fine, most case fans draw less than 1A anyways.

Ditto

Does anyone here have any experience with the Antminer S17 Pro 53 THs?

I have one and truly wished that I had purchased more of them.

I paid 2225 for mine.

A good deal to say the least.

Three speeds.

Mine does remarkable at low speed.

About 1440watts and 40th

36 watts a th.

Two plug design is good.

The only issue is some say the psu does not like 240+ volts.

I provide it 221 volts and it has been rock solid.

When I sell my share of the Clifton mine to buysolar it will pretty much break my heart 💜 to be selling this particular unit. As it can mine reasonably quiet at the low speed setting.

And it turns a profit at 15 cent power.

Thanks Phil. I hope to snag one for a good price and set it up in Labrador.
Yes, I have been reading about your situation. My heart goes out to you. None of my business, but why not a keep few of your most efficient rigs at Clifton? I know how I would be feeling right now if I were in your shoes.  I think that once I worked thru it, I'd wish I had kept at least a couple of my most efficient rigs.

In Canada there is an even bigger mess with Crypto taxes.

I don't know if you guys heard of QuadrigaCX, it was the largest exchange in Canada that went bankrupt at the beginning of the year. Apparently the owner sent all the customer's Bitcoins to Bitmex and Bitfinex and margin traded it all and got liquidated when BTC broke $6K last year and faked his death.

Most Canadian's used this exchange including me. I stopped using it 2 years ago due to withdraw issues was a blessing in disguise. However I think that more than 75% of all Canadian's probably used the exchange and when it went bankrupt the website went offline.

Now here is the part where it gets crazy. People couldn't login to get their trading records for taxes. And basically the CRA (IRS equilvaent) told people to "guess" how much they made and to try to guess higher rather than lower because when the website comes back online in a few years they might need to do a final adjustment.

Yes- I quit using them when it took more than two weeks to get out $$ in January 2018. A friend had even bigger amounts that took him 6 weeks to get out ...just before Quadriga went extinct 11 months later.

I haven't cashed out into CAD $ since Jan 2018. I've been holding some of my crypto in TUSD and USDC instead. Once I find a safe Cdn Exchange, then I'll cash out some.

Currently, I'm exploring:

A. Coinsquare and Coinberry. Not sure i like their fees.
or
B. I might set up a USD bank Account thru TD or RBC... and cash out in USD through Bittrex or Gemini. But that will mean other bank fees when I convert it to CAD $.

How are other Canadians on this thread doing this?

Yes I did that in the past, had to open up a US bank account and set it up with Gemini. It was a pain in the ass however because due to their strict KYC, you have to send them a wire first and then they send you wires out.

The issue was that my bank didn't know how to send the wire correctly, finally they decided to call the receiving bank and got the proper instructions and it went through. Almost gave up... so you might have better luck then me. If you get some lazy teller then most likely they won't send it properly.

And yes the fees are very high. Gemini upped its fee again to like 1.5% from I think 0.5% when I joined and you also get charged a 2.5% fee when you convert into CAD funds.
Guess I won't bother with Gemini. Have you tried Kraken, BitNational, Coinberry or Coinsquare?

Yes this was actually introduced during the conference back in May. From what I recall it added fire to the already crazy bull-run we had back in May.

Good that you posted this because at the time, the app was only available to reporters and other testing personnel.  But right now it looks like you can actually use it if you got a iPhone.

Reading the reviews on the app store, they are mostly mixed. Basically people either rate it a 5 or a 1. Will download it and see if its any good and hopefully won't be any issues while trying to actually use it to pay.

Great. I have an android- so can't download it yet. keep us posted.

So what are your fees? I have some 741s which aren't worth running anywhere else. Maybe you would like to buy them?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: May 25, 2019, 04:33:58 PM
Only took me 5 years to figure that out haha. But I never sold the BTC I bought at $900 when it was coming down from $1200 back in 2012. I'm still up 8x - better than anything short of Netflix and Amazon.
LoL, I had 2.5 BTC purely left over from mining in 2013/14. Then I sold 1 just before the BCH fork (there was a lot of scaremongering and risk involved... which prove to be all BS afterwards) so around $2500. The rest I sold further down the road on the way up... Must've been around $6000 iirc. Still pretty damn good trades when you think of it.

Now I stick to all BTC I produce with my rigs. Well, I'm mining, staking and keeping all the VEIL I can get with my nVidias, but all various proceeds from the Vega rig goes straight to BTC.

Glad I am not the only one that sold a bunch of BTC leading up to the BCH fork. Most people don't remember but people were freaking out that BTC blockchain will come to a halt because people will abandon it for the more profitable BCH chain.

In hindsight it would of been smart to hold all the BCH until that Coinbase launch where it hit $3000 but who knew it would happen.

I remember all the shennanagins with BCH how they got like 50 blocks in an hour due to the crappy early difficulty adjustment algo. And most miners kept switching back and forth and slowing down the BTC chain since it took a while for the difficulty to adjust. However even when mining wasn't profitable people still were loyal to BTC, crazy times. Feels like an eternity but it was only in Q4 2017. Time sure flies.

Yup- pretty hard to be loyal to any particular crypto. I'll mine whatever gives the most profit per watt- ie: depending on what gear I have on hand. I use them to buy and hold a few promising projects... but sell them when they jump at least 25% and hold them in TUSD or USDC. EX: Recently, I sold half my BTC, 1/3 of my ETH, half of my XRP, all of my XLM, all of my RDN, half of my Cardano, half of my Holochain. I might sell half of my EOS and TRON...haven't decided yet.

If you had a friend/relative that had never mined anything before and wanted to learn --- would you have them start with a Crap CPU on their desktop (not a gamer, so no GPU of any merit available), buy a GPU to mine with, or buy an asic to mine with?

*** In this individual's case an asic is likely the best long term option due to their power costs, location, time, etc...***

Your statements somewhat conflict.  Wanting to learn is at odds with buying an ASIC for convenience.  I don't think anyone would really recommend buying hardware just for mining in this economy, but if we are talking about strictly something to learn with, then any 4+ core processor (new enough to have aes-ni) and GTX 1050 ti or better.  That should be enough to mine any coin in existence.  As for asics, generally there isn't much learning involved, unless you are troubleshooting hardware problems or have a large installation.  At this point in time I don't think any are worth buying for long term use unless its a sha-256.  My 2 cents  Grin

The ltc Apollo is 300
The btc r606 is 300

A brick is available. A miner can do solo mining or mine at various pools.

I own two Apollo’s and 1 R606 I mine them solo and it is simply to support the builders of the gear.

Although if I hit a block with either on it would pay for all three of them.

Odds are I will not hit a btc block in my lifetime.

But I could hit a ltc block.

I should have phrased it differently.  This is someone with very large amounts of free power and would like to make some money.  I don't think their interested in learning about mining just to learn (or geek out like some of us here Smiley...)

My thought is that they should learn the basics of crypto (from mining to exchanges) before spending a bunch on hardware of any sort.  I am not well versed in asics, so I feel ill qualified to tell them to buy some if I have no experience with them specifically.  On the other hand, while I do know CPU and GPU mining well I don't think it's worth them buying a GPU just to mine with if they won't be using it for gaming or workstation purposes later on.

They are 2 states away from me too, so I can't really assist them directly if they run into trouble.

How "noob proof" are the Antiminer series?

They're fairly "noob proof". If I were him, I'd try to get some S9s here:

https://www.scottofford.com/used-miners-for-sale/

Also, he could buy a few for $180 incl PSU from this link:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5121543.msg50198703#msg50198703

Of course, he would have to have them shipped to him...or he could keep them at Cryptoboreas. They're a good host site and have a low fee. I have a few rigs there and am happy with their service. That's about the easiest way for your friend to go "noob proof" without spending a fortune.

You know your tools are getting old when
1. Your Ryzen 5 2600 shows up in HWiNFO with a 108 Degrees core temp..  like wtf
2. Your Vega 64 reference shows up in GPU-Z with 8 Gig of Micro memory.  like wtf.  I know it has Samsung..
3. ATI pixel clock patcher complains that the driver file is too large.
Luckily all above items were resolved by upgrading the corresponding tool...
Time to overhaul the software repo..
Goes to show you the amount of innovation going on in this field called mining..

Perhaps I should mention that I needed to upgrade OverDrivenTool to 0.2.8. beta1 after I upgraded my AMD driver to 19.4.1 and lost fan control on my RX 570s...
Then I had to upgrade my Teamviewer to 14 something after it complained that the machine I tried to connect to had 14 something....

BTW does anyone know of a replacement for TeamViewer?  I am getting tired of its ways..  I can only stay connected a few minutes at a time now it suspects business use...

Maybe try this to replace Teamviewer: https://anydesk.com/en/

I know some are using it - but haven't tried it yet myself.
