1  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Physical Garlicoin Coins! on: March 18, 2018, 04:17:55 AM
Finally received my garlicky goodness today.
Some fun cards were added to the coins due to our long wait.

Looking forward to the DIY ones and making stinky, loaded Garlicoins!! Cheesy
Hopefully received them soon Wink

Thanks

I'm glad you got em in one piece and like em! I might end up refunding your preorder of single sided coins, I'm still working out the final pricing and the channels I'm going to need to market these on.
2  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Garlicard v1, the first GRLC Wallet Card! on: March 13, 2018, 05:14:48 PM
These look really nice and crisp!

Have you ever thought about making these for other currencies too? There were similar cards up for grabs earlier but they were not DIY and the maker ran away with $50,000 of loaded balances Sad.

I'd like a BTC/LTC/ETH/XMR version and I'm sure others would too Smiley

If theres enough of a demand for them sure!

I'd most likely set up a separate shop for those due to my shop being explicitly for memes lol.

Hey there everyone!

I'm going to be printing the first batch of these guys this week and will send them out once the holograms come in.

Oh, damn, these are pre-order? I  was hoping to get these in hand before April so I bought 4 off your website the other day. Do you think you will have them out that quickly? Tongue

Yeah I think you'll be fine! You should receive yours in plenty of time before April Smiley.

7  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Garlicoin Physical Storage [Free template] - Garlicard on: March 07, 2018, 05:30:23 AM
Hey,

I was working on a form of physical storage for Garlicoin following its release, but seeing as I don't have the time to continue to pursue it, I feel like sharing it here is the only right thing to do.
Due to the nature of the card (small detail/print), some standard printers won't be able to bring out all the card details but there are some that might (I've been told that the higher end ID card printers would).
I opted to go for a small denomination of GRLC but feel free to change it as you please. (I have attached a download link to the ai file below).

I feel like its a shame to let this go unused so low and behold, I present to you all... The Garlicard!
The inner lines on the reverse and obverse are meant to serve as guides for the key placement (private and public) whilst the outer lines/borders are meant to help the placement of a scratch off panel and clear plastic sticker for the public key/QR code. There is a standard square hologram scratch off panel available cheaply online that fits the card well.

Feel free to post any questions, hate, love or both.
If anyone does go about making some of these for themselves then I'd love to see a picture or two (the ones I printed didn't come out 100%).

Here's a mockup for reference.

Thanks Smiley

Also, I'll have you know, I'm a part of the Garlicoin Team now. So this does have GRLC developer approval Smiley

If you just google search custom tamperproof hologram stickers, a handful of companies that produce them will come up.

A couple companies to check are Novavision, Mavericklabel, and Intertronix though there are plenty of others. Most of the ones I've found require a minimum order of 1000 though.

So Salty, can you take me through the process of making these cold wallets with the diy holograms?

Thank you so much for your help!

If its a diy coin then there isnt much too it as far as "process" goes since you wont be assembling them or generating key pairs.  You need to start where salty gave you for holos and start calling around different mints to see how they operate in quantity, price, material, etc.  Thats the gist....google is your friend  Cheesy

Don't you worry about the coin making process. I've already got that down pat. Smiley

The last piece of the puzzle I was missing was the holograms, I just could not for the life of me find the right key words to use on google lol.

So I guess my last question is, do people generate their keys and then put them on little pieces of paper under the hologram?

(I'm asking all of these questions because I want to provide an easy resource to the Garlicoin community when it comes to cold storage. Seeing as the coin is a very good starting point for people unacquainted with Crypto.)

Here is a guide to how Polymerbit recommends you do it works for coins as well as paper notes

And another guide from Silver Wallets no longer in business.

Thank you so much!

That's the process I was envisioning, I'm glad I was on the right track Smiley

This forum really is awesome lol

Typically for cold storage no.  These are more collectable.  I know people do load diy coins but i personaly do not.  You might as well make a paper wallet or somthing else that costs zero to produce.  I wouldnt recommend diy coins for mass cold storage but everyone is different.

Mhmm, I completely understand that sentiment. I've been trying for a while now to think of a way to provide a quick and easy way of making/having cold storage, yaknow?

I'm in the process right now of having 200 coins manufactured of these guys and I'd love to offer more of a useful product, rather than just a novelty item.

I encourage it, i was just stating i dont use any of my diy coins as cold storage although you can.  Good luck in your venture  Cheesy

Thank you!

Could anyone help with my other question please? Cheesy

Howdy everyone!

I'm currently in the market to find a way to get custom holograms. I've seen them around here on the forums plenty but have been unable to locate a vendor or ascertain how people are getting them.

Also, I seem to have a bunch of troubles embedding an image in my post and having it display.

If someone could assist me with these two things I'll be extremely grateful!

Thanks,
Kmorae

I will buy some when they are made i dont typically like buying preorders but i definately need a stinky coin in my collection

I definitely understand that sentiment. Its gonna be weeks before I have enough coins saved up to not be in preorder mode  Cheesy

I hope to build this website into a profitable business so my word and the trust I build with potential and current customers is VERY important to me. I know because you dont know me it doesn't mean much, but if you order from me you will not be scammed. I do my very best to be transparent with everyone without giving away all of my secrets Wink

I understand and dont take it personally just a stance i take, maybe because im impatient and want it delivered after i pay i dont know, but there have been enough mishaps on here.  I will wait until they are ready to be shipped and then you will def have a customer.  Cheesy

I don't take it personally/ take offence at all! Smiley I just wanted to let ya know the type of person I strive to be and the type of business I try to run.

+1  Cheesy

However, if single faced... why not make it a medaillon right away?

Could you elaborate on what ya mean for me please?

Hey Minerjones. Or, I guess everyone.

Would there be an interest in numbered single faced coins? (Maybe even made of a precious metal if I can afford it lol)

The single faced coin is definitely more geared toward the collector community out there so I just wanted to see what ya'll thought. In terms of my first shipment of coins, I should hear today (February the 9th), when to expect them.

Also, I want the forum to know about another coin maker who makes his coins by hand.

>> This << is his shop where you can see the coins he sells and >> here << is the link to his most recent Reddit post, where you can see for yourself what his coins look like.

I know he's a direct competitor of mine, but I feel its in the community's best interest to support as many shops as we can, ya know?

Thanks for the heads up.
I received these a few days ago and was pleased with the results.
I ordered some of each finish/metal... all decent quality Cheesy

Mhmm he's a good guy and I appreciate the work he's putting into his coins. I just know a lot of coin-normies get turned off by the price  Cry
