Wow... decided to fire up one of my old BitMine.ch miners today just out of curiosity, as they've been sat gathering dust for the last 10 years.

After changing pool settings, etc, it sprang in to life, merrily mining away at 1.3TH/s.

Not at all cost effective to run, but was just curious to see if it would still work!   

When I look at the Update Firmware setting page, it says the current version is 201406101155.

Looks like a later version than Bitmine offer for download...

I ordered desks... but handles on front, couple of little brackets in the box.  Look more like I would expect rigs to look.


I'm being unintentionally dense. They've physically got 4 modules each, so ergo are Desks not Rigs.

Its just because as I was typing, the dashboards were up in front of me, which report 8 modules, even though it appears that physically there are 4 cards in each.

I've just received two Coincraft Desks, both with 8 modules.

I've just been looking to see what can be done to overclock these, but two things are holding me back so far:

1. The temperature gauge on the LCD panels of both units reads 0.0C. Obviously wrong... any idea why for both of these units there would be no temperature data being displayed?

2. There is no option to change the power mode. On the mining page is just says: "Device speed is factory calibrated to the best possible setting.".

Any suggestions folks?

I just posted this in the official thread, and as my order was a February batch #2 order, thought anyone following this thread might be interested too.

I originally placed an order last November for a February delivery.

After cancelling the order, and finally being given the offer of an October refund, compensated hashing, or hosted hashing, I decided to negotiate on the amount of hashing I'd receive in compensation.

I'm happy to say that within 10 days of concluding those negotiations, my Coincraft Desk units have arrived from Bitmine.ch, and are now up and working (after a little bit of maintenance caused by one of the Pi controller boards coming loose).

Its doubtful that I'll ever manage to quite breakeven now (unless the exchange rate goes silly), but the risk of waiting to see whether I'd see any sign of the refund was too great.

I've learnt my lesson though... next time I'll hire an engineer to do the ASIC design and build the units myself!

I'm just glad to be able to draw my particular case to a close.

Hope the rest of you in limbo manage to sort things out one way or another.

Makes using these forums a real PITA. Posting restrictions, search restrictions, et al really annoy me, and put me off from contributing more. 

I'd like to second having Bitmine.ch added to the scam list.

I placed my order in November 2013 for February delivery.

I cancelled the order in April 2014 and requested a refund due to non-delivery.

I was told in June that due to the large number of refunds requested, they could not make them all in a timely fashion as their bank only allowed a certain number of transactions per month (a likely story... not).

I am still waiting for a refund which I doubt I shall see without legal action.

Is it not the case that Bitcoin exchanges are unregulated? As such, isn't it the case that their fiduciary duty extends to doing what they see fit to keep customers assets secure?

Perhaps what we need is some regulation, or at the very least, a code of practice that exchanges are prepared to sign up to that will ensure that exchanges are not able to let such a situation arise again. 

Now, I live in the UK, and in law here the accused has the presumption of innocence until proved otherwise. 

Karpeles undoubtedly knew that MtGox was in trouble due to the malleability exploit, but it may have taken some time before they got to the bottom of it and realised exactly how big a problem it was. They may have been working on the premise that they would have sufficient reserves in fiat to bail themselves out.

The fact is, we just don't know.  If Karpeles continued to trade whilst knowingly insolvent, then yes, he is guilty of that, and I am sure that he will have to face the courts to deal with that.

But, I maintain the real villain here is whoever defrauded MtGox in the first place.

Look, the point is, its a bit like blaming a home owner when there house is left unlocked and subsequently burgled. Just because they made it easier through some inaction, at the end of the day it is the perpetrator of the crime who is the real villain.

Okay, so Karpeles is an idiot, but he didn't force people to give them their bitcoin / fiat.  But you're going after the wrong man.  Don't get hung up on vengeance against the gun dealer, go after the man that pulled the trigger.

Actually, that is one of the things I'm disappointed about.  The 50% cap is new.  There was no mention of a 50% cap when I placed my order, but I sincerely hope that I'll receive my order before then anyway.

Giorgio, I think you just need to take a few very simple steps to keep people happy.  Communication is the key in this regard, and that is something I'm sure you would agree is something that you've not been good at.  But you need to become proactive rather than reactive, which should result in less concerned customers contacting you.

How about once a week posting what the latest Desk / Rig order queue numbers are that have been shipped, along with details of the number of units shipped each week.  That way at least we will get a feel for how things are progressing.

And yes, add me to the list of customers who are disappointed that I haven't received my order, or replies to my emails, and have growing concerns about the money I have wasted on the order given the increasing difficulty levels.

It is not Karpeles fault that a criminal is trying to sell your data.  The perpetrators of crime are the criminals, and in this case MtGox & its customers are the victims.  In fact, if someone hadn't been defrauding them via the malleability exploit, we wouldn't be in this situation.

So, how about we start actually blaming this fiasco on the perpetrators rather than the victims.

He's going to need that 100BTC to keep himself safe & out of prison.

If Bitmine are only able to ship 50 units per week, I would imagine that its going to be a couple of months or more before I see my order. With a capped 50% increase in hashing from the CPP, it looks increasingly unlikely that I'll ever see a ROI unless the BTC exchange rate spikes!
