1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: March 31, 2014, 07:46:20 AM
Your business model looks like the one from the underpants gnomes in southpark:

Step 1: Create Coin

Step 2:  ? ? arr ? ?

Step 3: Profit!

Maybe you should rename it to Trollcoin (even if it's already taken because who cares right?!)! at least then people would have a good laugh reading the former thread... XD

The irony of you talking about this is hilarious on so many levels.  In short, jog on.

A little self humor never killed anybody Wink

but too much can obviously kill a coin though! XD

What is self humor?  When you look in the mirror and laugh?

You've added nothing productive to this whole thread and yet you still post.  Go ahead and 'talk to your techs' (ie the people who might actually have a grasp on how any of this interwebs stuff really works), and when you've done so... do your 'PRE-ANN' which would appear to have been your gripe all along.  Just don't call it PirateCoin, because, well, that IP is mine.  Have a good launch.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PirateCoin or BootyCoin? Please Vote on: March 31, 2014, 06:00:58 AM
The Label PirateCoin would not vanish if it would get renamed to BootyCoin, it would mean the community would hand the Label "PirateCoin" over to a Pirate Party Crypto-Coin Project.

Never going to happen.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: March 31, 2014, 05:54:52 AM

My only request to you was to take down the pirate party logo and the ppi text, not the site/block explorer nor nodes. You simply didn't respond anymore and took down everything. I even wrote you a second pm (unanswered) stating:

"hey

i saw you took down the site. do you want me to take the domain of your hands? you wanna keep your nodes running? or are you just saying: "i'm out!" "screw you guys i'm going home!" ^^

either way just let me know how you want to handle this.
but i really want to assure you if you decide to take part in anyway just say a word. Smiley

greetz"

I don't understand what you want to blame me for now. I simply gave you a heads up that it's probably not a good idea to affiliate your p2p-network with an political movement without being a part of it and you obviously got scared and overreacted.

From the start this has been your take on the whole project.  That it should / should not be affiliated with a 'movement' that most people have never heard of and frankly have never cared about.

Since it was not me that chose to change the logo or the copy, I have very given very little consideration to it.  Personally I believe that any implied affiliation would be negative for the project as created.  It was conceived as a play on a pirate (as in 'arrrr', not as in 'oooh - free m0vi3z') theme which is inherently marketable - your very first comment shows how much you misunderstood this.  You're a pirateparty member.  Good for you.

New PirateCoin permanent node added:

addnode=98.174.25.28

Thanks.. the 2 you posted seemed to do the trick. Riddle me this.. why do most all of the new coins coming out have this sync problem? I've got wallets/coins that don't even have a .conf and work just fine. To me it appears to be either sloppy work on the part of the devs or that they just don't know WTF their doing. COMMENTS??

Most coins have this problem because the developers didnt bother to update the DNS seed nodes in the sourcecode.  You saw this problem because the piratecoin.co DNS nodes were taken offline.

If I can find an elegant way of handing over piratecoin.co to the community I will do so.  On the express condition that it's not used in any way to generate goodwill or promote the Pirate 'movement' in any way what-so-ever.  If they want a coin they can create their own, and the rest of the world will continue to not care.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: March 31, 2014, 04:44:51 AM
Sry if I maybe been to enthusiastic and overstated things but that was basically what i meant...

So the vote has an interesting outcome from my point of view.

Piratecoin: 17
Bootycoin: 18

and not to forget:

Not give a shit about the name: about 280 (visited the thread didn't vote)

Which in my opinion is the most powerful statement and I think it says:

"The name doesn't matter it's all about the marketing and the source-code..."

So I personally am still in favour of working together with hank here. His constructive motivated approach motivates me too and like I said in hanks and my email correspondence I am willing to donate some of my mined coins and contribute on every edge I can to make bootycoin a success.

The links to the new site have been updated in the first post.

For clarification to anyone that isn't 100% clear on this matter, had it not been for the involvement of Mike_Rotch, the original site, the DNS nodes, the block explorer and all the rest of it would still have been active.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: March 09, 2014, 05:20:24 PM
i told ya from the beginning you should've linked it with the pirate movement...
now i personally (as a pirate) think it's to late and my opinion is still that you could have better thought this through...

why should we pirates help you now if clearly all you want is help yourselves?

i was thinking using this coin internally to pay members for their achievements but to be honest even if i get some mining pirates to mine this coin, we sooner or later will create our own because this is not what the pirate party should stand for...we do the things we do out of idealism not greed...

your best bet would've been becoming a pirate yourself and connect with the others internationally before starting this but like i said it's not idealism that seems to motivate you...maybe then you would have discovered, that there are already pirates connecting internationally to make something out of cryptos...something where you excluded your coin from...sry bro...just being honest...i would have told you before you launched the coin if you would have announced it soon enough...

I didn't care about what you wrote then, and I certainly don't now.  You have no idea what 'motivates' me, so don't presume otherwise.

sry for provocating you but...if you defy what i'm saying then i really wonder what this is all about...?

because seriously you could've joined the pirate party before creating the coin and then we all would have helped you because we would have had the feeling you wanted to help us all (humanity as a whole)...

or you even could start talking to me now instead of being pissed about your own decisions (you know you don't kill the messenger)...
if you have any good suggestions how to resolve those issues that are the reason why piratecoin will never become pirate-party coin, bring it on...but i personally can't seem to see any way to make something of this that somehow helps our goals as a movement...

sry mate i really don't want to piss you off. i'm just being honest...

I have no interest in joining the pirate party either.  You make lots of assumptions and none have any basis in fact.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: March 09, 2014, 03:15:55 AM
we try to put us in touch with uspirates but I did not hand over www.piratecoin.co
and motd2k is not very cooperative
it's dead

It's dead because you don't know how to change a png file?  (Or because you don't know how to make a png file with an alpha background?... I changed the logo for you initially and it looked horrific).

I've handed out basically root access to wordpress and twitter for FREE and i'm maintaining the www, database, DNS, blockchain (FOR FREE) and i'm not cooperative?  If I open up my refrigerator and let you take a free lunch, too, would that be okay then?

PS i've done my best to do your job for you

I dont understand the updating of the web site and twitter but nothing on this thread... mod2k where are you?

I'm here.  I've handed the ability to update the site and the twitter account to the community, time for you guys to run with it.
12  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 4 x Antminer S1 on 2 Corsair PSU with uprated fans. on: February 14, 2014, 06:51:17 PM
I have 4 running off a single Dell 2100W server PSU.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: February 06, 2014, 03:45:42 PM
"About how much is the customs fee?  TIA"

If you are in UK, about 35 Pounds each, if you're in the good ole US, $0.

I paid 216 for 9.
But there was no consistency in the charges. I received 3 invoices (as the Ants were 3x3) and each got a different amount.

It's a price based on the spot USD/GBP rate.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: February 03, 2014, 09:43:39 AM
What do you actually need though? The underlying coin works perfectly, any changes to that we can perform... the day to day marketing doesn't necessarily have to be my sole responsibility... the community demands no premine but doesn't necessarily understand the consequences of it.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIR] ---- PirateCoin | Exchange listed ---- Arrr! on: February 02, 2014, 08:44:22 PM
Just very little time at present, but I do read the PMs.  Great to see active community involvement, it's exactly what is needed right now; as was mentioned there was actually only a single block premined... so in that respect it really does need to be a community effort!

Keep at it guys.
16  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY 7 OPEN] Antminer 180GH @ 1.90 BTC - Chinese End of the Year Sale - on: January 27, 2014, 09:18:02 PM
Just received miner but there appears to be thermal compound all over the PCB dripping from screws?? wtf?

I'm afraid to even start mining.. It's running into the ASICs etc... What should I do?

It's non-conductive, you dont have to do anything

Fun update for the UK folk affected by Mumbai...

UPS changed status to "Held in Warehouse"... not really sure what to do with that one.

x2 here but there's not much anyone other than UPS can do about it
