1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Calling on Satoshi Nakamoto on: February 21, 2014, 05:56:52 AM
What's probably going to happen is that Mt. Gox is going to be to BTC what AOL was to the internet. In it's hayday, it was THE thing to have. Then other things come out and soon enough, they disappear into obscurity; with a few dinosaurs holding on for dear life.

I've shifted to BTER for now(yahoo??), but am looking for the next thing. Bitcoin needs a Google. Someone to come in and take over and do things right.

Until then, let's just enjoy the ride. Oh, and OP? I don't think it matters if Mr. Nakamoto ever comes back on scene. Bitcoin will survive.

Mr. Nakamoto is probably just frickin' Bill Gates or something. Whomever it is, I guarantee he/she is rich enough to live forever and never touch the BTC in that account.

We shall overcome!
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks directed to limit cash deposits, could affect local bitcoin transactions on: February 20, 2014, 09:14:06 PM
Banks are going to keep vomiting all over themselves as they slowly die. Pull as much money out of the big banks as you can, while you can.

They're going to keep attacking and fighting; Stealing as much of everyone's money as they can. They know what's happening. They know that people can see through their crap. They know that no one trusts them, but their biggest problem is that they don't know how to succeed by making people happy. Big banks, big Insurance, big agro, big healthcare only know how to succeed by making people more and more miserable.

I'd be prepared to see much, much more of this type of anti-consumer behavior over the next few years as people, Technology, and the internet stab the last few blows at the heart of these big businesses.

To the heads of these businesses, I say, it's time to retire. I think you have enough money.

7  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-15] How high can the Bitcoin price Go? on: January 18, 2014, 05:37:59 PM
On a less scientific, more opinionated point:

I think BTC will, in about March, finally break the $1,000-1,200 barrier. It will make a few big fluctuations, and by the end of the year it will be holding steady somewhere between 1,500-2000.

Unless, of course, China decides to lay of on their rules and declare BTC at least a private currency. In which China will probably start to drive the price higher, and investors will start buying like crazy to try and get in "before the boom" then the price could see 5 figures before year end...IMO

There's no way Doge will "skyrocket" to the point where you'll be a millionaire thanks to Doge alone.

The joke will end way before this time next year.

The joke is over already.

If that coin is going to make it, they have to develop it as a serious contender. The point is, though, they have an advantage that not a lot of coins have: a large backing of people who joined in early and want to see it succeed for one reason or another.

I don't need doge to go "to the moon" to become a millionaire. I just want to see it succeed because it had a fantstic start. I think when anyone starts off that well, they deserve to succeed. they just have to capitalize on the momentum that the joke helped provide.

The fact is, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sure there are a select few who are trying to snuff it out and/or make us reverse course. You can see it in these crappy "warnings" talking about the dangers of BTC. Some people don't want us to have homes and be out of debt. Some people want us on monthly payment plans until the day we die.

Whatever about the doge. if it never hits $1 or even $.01, I'm happy soomeone made it, and the value will increase. I don't have all my eggs in one basket, so I kind of don't give a D where it goes from here. I'll be just fine. I don't even have all my money in cryptos either. I just think it's fun to speculate and it would be pretty cool if the doge took off. I want to see that goofy looking coin when I go into a bakery or a t-shirt shop. Just like I want to see a nice big BTC!

Mostly though, I just wanted to tell all of you that I see the serious potential for a very good future in our lifespan because there is a method for us to help each other. I travel a bit, and I have seen some pretty impoverished places. I think it'd be cool to see those places thriving and happy(with a big sign reading bitcoin accepted here!)

It's obviously going to take more than just our little community to create the future that I see, but it's another step in the right direction. It's going to take people building their own.....You know what? I want to show you what I mean.

I have to end this comment and go do some work, but I'll come back later.

First, I don't know about anyone else here, but I've started using the word "crypto" to describe ALL cryptocurrencies in the market, so that I don't have to spend all day spelling out different specific "cryptos"

I know one thing for sure. I'm going long doge. I think this thing is going to skyrocket and I'm going to be there when it does.

I'm also going long BTC, WDC, NMC, and a few others. I think a few too many people are focused on the short game. If doge doesn't gain traction for 6 months, what have I lost? I'm still paying my bills. But if it rises to even $1...

Let's just say I'm glad I've got a little skin in the game.

As for doge competing with big boy BTC?

I think doge will hold it's own. Probably always be the little bro, but if even a few brick-and-mortar stores start adopting it, the doge will be a lot more than a joke that has long since lost it's humor. Much serious...so real...why not?

So, I hope the doge developers are kicking it into high gear. 2014 is the year that everybody will be speaking crypto. BTC will be king with LTC shortly after. But the playing field will be rife with people wondering what else is out there.

I'm not B.S.ing when I say that doge could get widely adopted. I still hold my stance that cryptos will never really kill fiat or take over the world. But I do think that everyone here stands the possibility of becoming the worlds new elite, spreading the wealth, and helping level the playing field.

I think the world will be more unified as people from everywhere help fight hunger, oppression, homelessness, and poverty by giving small amounts of crypto to the charities who accept it. I, for one, am planning a charity to battle homelessness which will be based in as many cryptos as I can get. (mostly BTC, of course) I think people should have a place to live.

The world will be a better place due to cryptocurrencies and the giving, generous nature of the crypto-community.

I'd say that things are looking promising. 2014 is going to be a big year. I can see it. I think BTC is going to seriously increase in value, dragging a lot of others up with it. I think Crypto is going to create as many millionaires in 2014 as it did in 2013, if not more. (I'm obviously hoping to be one of them, along with many of you) I think that if we keep helping people get out of poverty, taking power from the 0.01%, and building on the framework already in front of us, 2014 can be a VERY good year.

I think this is kind of fun! I won't be participating myself (chances are that we won't be crossing paths any time soon, I'm sure) but I fully encourage it... Haha.

Is your name Carmen Sandiego by any chance?

Hehe. Someone with a sense of fun :p

Ok. If the prize is too low, how about I boost it up to 0.1? Plus if anyone is willing to donate, I'll dump the whole pot on whomever wins. It could get big...Plus I'll even throw in something else fun. Maybe a t.v. or something. It won't be more money, but it'll be cool.

I want to try something that I think would be fun. The game is simple. If you find me and take a picture with me, I'll give you 0.01BTC.

I have a pretty good phone, so I can take the picture and post it up here.

What are the rules?

1. You get no hints, you get no clues, and you have to see me in person, (you don't know what I look like) so I won't be telling anyone where I am or where I'm going. Plus, I'm not giving away enough for anyone to break the bank to reach me.

2. I'll bump up the prize if I get some donations. For now, I've only got about 0.25 BTC to play with. I'll put my address up for folks to donate after the mods tell me it's ok to do so.

2. No hints! No teamwork! No posting any info here. If you find a clue,  keep that Sh@ to yourself!

3. If fifty of you approach me at once, only the first person gets paid.

4. I alone resolve all issues. I have the final word regarding the rules to this game. Seriously. Let just keep it fun and lighthearted.

5. It has to be a picture, It must be posted here, and YOU must be in the picture with ME to be valid.

6. This is supposed to be fun. Let's keep it that way. Please ? I travel the world, so there's no telling where you'll see me.

7. I'll probably want to pay you in person

Have fun. I look forward to meeting you.

GO!

20  Other / Beginners & Help / BTC businesses you'd like to see. on: December 15, 2013, 11:40:35 PM
I thought it might be fun to see what type of businesses some people would like to see in operation. I'm an entrepreneurial spirit and would like to invest some of my time and talents into helping grow this community. In the interest of "share, and share alike" I'll go first.

I want to open a BTC funded hotel. An awesome place where everything is automated, we only serve the healthiest of options for food, the beds are magnetic, temperature moderating, memory-foam masterpieces. Ionized, alkalized mineral water at every faucet and shower-head. advanced air filtration and ionization, etc.

the true claim to fame though? I would love for the project to be, in whole or in part, crowdfunded by the BTC world (and of course, I'd accept BTC as payment for the rooms). It would be a safe place to have BTC foundation meetings and come together to plan for the future. It could be a beacon, shining over the true potential of bitcoin to help the world become a better, brighter, healthier place where people think for themselves and feel good about life.

This is the type of direction I want bitcoin to go. Juice bars that don't just accept bitcoin, but are built on it. restaurants who keep away from foods and juices with "natural flavorings" and crazy stuff like carmine. so that people associate bitcoin with healthier choices.

An engineering firm who funds their projects primarily with BTC crowdfunding. a place where inventors go and actually get the tools and assistance they need to get their ideas out of their head and into the real world. With the blockchain you don't need quite as much red tape and expense to prove ownership of an idea or invention, so it would make it possible for the real best and brightest to come out of the woodwork. how do you operate a place like this? Sounds expensive and not terribly profitable. Maybe rent space and tools out to prospective inventors? or take a fee or a piece of the profits when the invention hits the open market? You probably only need one idea to really take-off to make serious profits...I don't know, but I'm sure someone with a better business mind than I could figure a way to keep the doors open.

What ideas do you have? Obviously you don't need to give up every detail of your master plan, but I think it's a good idea to keep all this brain power sharp. Open source, right? We can all help improve each others plans/ideas/lives.

This thread is one of my wilder ideas, (asking what businesses people would like to see) so if you hate me for asking, don't kill me too much.
