1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / mining xmr vs using nicehash on: December 23, 2019, 01:35:43 PM
i only have around 14000 hs on randomx  via nicehash, whats the chances i would be better of mining direct to a pool and selling for BTC, is there are any exchanges that are low enough fee's ? since nicehash have stopped the repayment program i have been having doubts about them been in trouble with money. i know mining xmr direct gives m the option of selling if/when the prices goes up

yes i know its a cpu algo, im not bothered about weather cost vs power usage is worth it, im trying to find out if my psu is going to be running its cock of flat out. stock i get 10000 h/s using hugepages and turion power control ps max 1 on ubuntu ( all cores boosted to 2.2mhx ). currently at 2.9 MHz with 1.1650vcore its upto 11886 h/s

It's not algo the that matters it's the CPU. Your PSU has to supply the max power your CPU could draw
with the most power hungry application. Check your CPU specs and add for OC.

Unless you built the PC yourself and went cheap on the PSU or you've added GPUs, running the CPU
hard, even with OC, should not be a problem for the PSU.

Or just measure the power draw while mining.

i cant find my plug in power meter, its an old opteron system, 4 x 16c ES chips. i think the TDP of them is 115w each stock . even overclocked they shouldn't really go past 150w each tho ? the server is watercooled so has a pump and several fans running from the board aswell using a cooler master silent pro 1000 psu.

been stable at 2.9 vcore 1.1650 for 24 hours so gone to 3.0 vcore 1.1700 and see how that gets on. doubt ill push it past 3.0 as buying a bigger psu isn't worth it, but another idea could be to just jump a spare psu and run all the fans/ hdd  and water cooling pump from that

now monero has gone to random x, how is power usage affected. a while back CN V7 was really good on power usage. i was simply going to use my plug in power meter but cant find it. im trying to working out my limits with overclocking and my psu output, but seeing as i have no idea how power hungry random x is or isn't i dont want to push anything yet.

running 4 x 16c opterons, ES chips... with hugepages 9600 and ps max 1  ( max 2.2 )  i was getting 10000 h/s. after i installed turion power control i simply typed this into the terminal and am upto 12200 h/s

sudo tpc -psmax 6
sleep 1

sudo tpc -set ps 1 freq 3000 vcore 1.1850
sudo tpc -set ps 0 freq 3000 vcore 1.1850
sleep 1
sudo tpc -fo 0

sudo tpc -psmax 1

does anybody think i can manage more than 3000 from these cpus ? given im already up from 2.2 to 3 i consider this a good overclock but i see people doing 3.4 / 3.6 at VCore:1.3125 . cooling isn't an issue, its fully water cooled and here in the UK in my shed its cold.  but will my 1000w cooler master pro   keep up!

The log you posted indicates that it successfully allocated huge pages for all datasets and all threads. I don't see any issue here.

ok then thanks, so i wonder if i had managed to overclock then with tpc? i don't even have a clue how to use it what so ever.

if i open a terminal and type for example sudo tpc -set ps 1 vcore 1.150 freq 3000

will this apply an overclock?

another thing, what should soft memlock and hard memlock be set to?

hi

i lost my hugepage files settings, i just use the terminal as i don't shut the thing down often, but i locked the server up messing with turion power control. i just cannot find the post online for the best results! inaway i have set my page files to 9600 and its doing 9500hs but i was getting upto 10500 hs with the slightly different huge pages settings.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / current RX 570 hash rates? on: July 09, 2019, 06:02:11 PM
so I decided to put a rx470 and a 570 on nicehash to help with with my pending balance, but for ages ive uses xmr stak on CN lite which was fine. but now on nicehash mining daggerhash im getting 10 - 13 mhs per gpu, these are 4gb cards on win 7 ultimate, now is it because of win 7 or are 4gb cards no good for mining eth any more? even just using the miner direct I get no change, right now im using  lolminer getting 10 and 11sols per gpu mining beam on nicehash. ive formatted today and gone back to stock bios to see if that was the problem still only low hash rates.
9  Other / Off-topic / should my board work with more than 2 gpus on: February 09, 2018, 11:40:36 AM
hi

after some ideas as to why i cant get my board working with more than 2 gpus. i have an MSI g43 z 97 motherboard with both pci e slots filled , the board also has 2 x 1 pci slots aswell, i set in the bios from auto to GEN 1 but im not sure if its the board just doesnt work with more than 2 gpus or i have faulty risers.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z97-G43/Specification

 1 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot
• 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (PCI_E4)*
   - Supports up to PCIe 2.0 x4 speed.
• 2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 slots(PCI_E1, PCI_E3)*
• 3 x PCI slots
* The PCIe 2.0 x16 (PCI_E4) slot will support PCIe 2.0 x2 speed when any PCIe 2.0 x1 slot (PCI_E1/ PCI_E3) has been installed

should i be using the 2 that are currently installed into the normal slot on x1 risers?

thanks for any input
