1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TiPS ★ Kimotos Gravity Well ★ World first coin anonymizer launched! on: March 05, 2014, 11:04:22 PM
Hey guys, sorry again for my lack of communication recently, this family get-together has lasted a lot longer than I thought!

Anyway I'm not sure if you've heard but a side-channel attack for ECDSA has been published, to be specific the ECDSA variant used in Bitcoin/Litecoin/TiPS/etccoin.

It allows an attacker to recover the private key for a given address/publickey, but only under certain circumstances. (in non-techie terms, it allows someone to make a wallet key mold from your wallet lock and unlock your wallet with it)

I tried looking around to see if any other coin devs talked about this yet but I haven't found anything (it's hard to search on a phone though, if you've heard anything a link would be appreciated!)

Maybe it's just not a priority to them, seeing as the attack depends on the factors below (might be incorrect, based on what I could understand from the paper and what others have said):
Code:
- Attacker knows target address/publickey
- Attacker can execute code on the same machine as the target (eg. attacker owns a VPS on the same machine as the targets VPS)
- Target has signed 200+ transaction/inputs from the target address

If all of these conditions are met then recovering the targets private key is only a matter of time, and while the probability of all of these being met is pretty slim it still leaves a possibility.

Maybe other coin developers have already marked it down as WONTFIX, but I won't stand by and allow the coin I develop to contain any public exploits.

A mitigation technique (aka: semi-fix) is already described in the paper, although it sounds like it might take some work to implement. I'll start looking into it as soon as I get back but that might not be until March 9th or so.

PS. sorry if this post reads a bit weird, had to rewrite it because my phone randomly skipped back a page and I lost the post before I could send it -.-

When open  source platform  is released, dev does not ask "permission" from developer because is O-P-E-N; this is absurd ... it is like if Fedora developer had to get "permission" when forking Litecoin. Ridiculous.

And ...When a nickname points out the skill and deep konwledge of a developer? WTF !!

Well, I am considering very seriously forking TiPS into another coin with working mixing feature.

It is not a menace, just a feeling.

Seems the imposter just learned how to use Unicode Shocked
Damn now I'll need to get in touch with the bitcointalk staff, thanks for making my day easier -.-

PS: I don't know what this guy is on about, but he isn't a mixing operator, or even related to the dev team in any way. It looks like he's giving people a list of his own addresses as "a list of mixing services" to try and scam people.

My advice: report and ignore.

Edit: if you're having trouble telling us apart just look at the posts user id, click the username in the post then check your address bar for the ID, mine should be 193414, accept no imitations!

Thank you for all your kind support and great ideas. I just had a break, thinking about all of your suggestions and decided that Fedora, the Θ and orange sux hard. Blue tips is the way to go

I'm now on vacation with some pretty girls (I deserve it lol) and hope to see a neat blue subreddit, nice apps and a working tipping bot that can be either implemented by webmasters or on the fly by a browser addon.

Peace  Cool
too good to be true

Yeah this isn't me, I'll be back shortly, sorry for keeping everyone so long!

do we actually have any devs here on the forum other than Invisible?
we've been discussing fiercely for 2 weeks and got the cryptocoinnews article ready and everybody is ready to go out and spread the word, yet we have to get the green light from devs who we never hear from. this is kinda getting me demotivated and disappointed, and i'm not the only one.

Invisible has been busy recently, but what about the other devs, why don't we hear a word from them? why can't they discuss this stuff with us or give us their opinion and let us start our work finally? if they want to wait with marketing then they should let us know, if they don't give a shit about TiPS getting a wide audience or about a passionate community supporting the coin, then they should also let us know so that we can find another project. we've been the first currency with working mixing service for some time now, but no body knows about it outside this thread. guess why..

That's kinda the same what I was thinking. So many contributions from talented and motivated people. Tips could really fly, yes, they're gaining value, but they could really get big, if we would promote them more. But instead, it kinda feels like we would been hold back. So I agree with id10tothe9, the devs need be more often around here, and get things done. Decide. Give the green light. For me, this signifies a bit of poor leadership. I like this coin, but that's also demotivating me.

The team is always available on IRC, not sure if many of them check the thread but I try to keep up with it as much as I can Smiley
But I've been away for the past few days so I haven't been that active here, I'll have to catch up with what's going on.

Retardιe, it is shown into blockchain that it is not doing mixing, laundry or whatever.

This poor guy sent  10000685.379729 from Ef1iTBw3sceL1FmcN1AT1be2QRCEFeozk8 to ERRGDnouHgZCGYnahkX6fyEhRKK1LKBp6H with "anonymi" check, with the aim of an true anonymous tx.

If you have got functional eyes and a medium size brain of standard chimp, you can see that coins are sent directly from "from" address Ef1iTBw3sceL1FmcN1AT1be2QRCEFeozk8  to "to" address ERRGDnouHgZCGYnahkX6fyEhRKK1LKBp6H ; no mixing is done at all.

http://chain.fedoraco.in/tx/26f66790cd8fb01690ac72493008d5467baf0719456d319ac8ebb798df8025d7

Simply this feature does not exist yet, invisibel just ribbed us.
Sounds like that poor guy forgot to make sure the box was checked, because if it was then the coins would only be sent to a mixer, unless there are none available where it'll give the user an error message.
I wonder who people will believe, the coin developer and source code, or that one guy who keeps trying to shit up the thread? You could have at least made a new sockpuppet account...

Anyway sorry for the absence guys, away visiting family right now, I'll look over everything that's been posted once I get back.

Edit: actually johnny I just looked that that link, it looks like he only sent 10.2 coins through the mixer, with the 10000685 coins being sent back to the sender as change. 1/10 made me respond.

Edit 2:

0.60 windows binaries are now up on http://fedoracoin.net/, sorry for the wait my upload speed is terrible Sad

If you're having troubles with "No mixing nodes available" check the top post, and let me know how it goes!

Still uploading, my upload speed is terrible. Only a few more minutes.

Guys I'm kinda worried for my TIPS right now, I tried to import my private key into my mac wallet by doing this:
importprivkey XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And I get this: Invalid private key (code -5)
Does the private key that was given to me with the public one is wrong??
That's strange, did the keys you're using come from the paper wallet generator? I'd taken that down since I heard from the guy who ported it that there was a problem with the keys it generated :/

Nonono don't tell me that.. It does come from that generator.. But it's still up, it's not taken down. Fuck my life.. I went in at 40 a long time ago.. Sad

There might still be a way to save them though, as far as I know it was only a small error with the generator, if you come on IRC I might be able to help after I get this release finished

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] [WORLD FIRST] TiPS - built-in coin mixing/anonymity service just launched! on: February 17, 2014, 09:12:15 PM
We're happy to announce that the TiPS mixing service is now available!

What's this?
Our unique mixing service allows you to send coins through a third party and hide all trace of them originating from you by using a simple checkbox on the client. Your coins are sent (with data encrypted) to a mixer node chosen by random, which sends the coins along after a certain length of time. This makes the transaction recorded on the blockchain appear only as a transaction to the mixer address with no indication of where they were headed.

Transactions are sent to a mixing service owned by a member of the TIPS community at random, which ensures that no centralized service could reveal the origins of transactions that are mixed.

Mixed transactions charge an additional 2% on top of the value of the transaction to give help nodes out and give mixing node operatives an incentive for running a node (this fee may be changed at any time). For now the fee is global across all mixing nodes but future updates may allow mixing node operators to change the fee as they wish.

What makes it secure?
Since your coins are sent encrypted to a third party the only people who can match the dots are you and the mixing service operator. Our mixing node software is built to ensure that once your transaction is sent the relevant decrypted data is destroyed.

Mixing nodes operating with us will also be checked regularly to ensure they comply with our privacy and safety standards, such as requiring all communication over Tor to help conceal the mixing services location and completely pruning all data, and changing address every 3 months.

To make new mixing nodes known we use mixer announcements, a new feature added to propagate the nodes information through the network. Essentially they're just a copy of the original Bitcoin alerts system, but unlike alerts announcements are invisible to the user. When coins are mixed a mixing node is chosen at random from the known announcements to mix the coins.

After we accept a new mixer node an announcement will be created, signed and broadcast to the network to notify people of the new service. We centralize the management of nodes to ensure that bad services can be revoked and removed from use before any coins can be lost.

We're also looking into ways on how to fully decentralize it, if you have any knowledge in this area and want to help feel free to join us on IRC.

Why would I use it?
To give an example, Bob lives with his wife Alice and they both get paid TiPS monthly into a shared address.
Alice likes to keep tabs on Bob and regularly checks the blockchain to see where he's been sending money. But Bob is fine with this, because he uses the TiPS mixing service to conceal his transactions destinations. That way Alice will never know that Bob is the leader of a notorious tipping ring who regularly helps out the citizens of Reddit. Good thinking Bob.

Can I start up my own mixing node?
If you're known to the community as a trustworthy person and you have two spare servers located in different areas then yes you can. The guide on how to set it up still isn't available yet, but if you message tipsfedora on freenode I'll get back to you after it's finished.

Where can I download it?
Always make sure to backup your wallet before upgrading!

Windows: visit http://fedoracoin.net/
Mac OS X: soon
Linux: https://github.com/fedoracoin/fedoracoin
If you have problems with "No mixing nodes available" try going to help -> debug console and type in
Code:
addnode srv1.fedoracoin.net add
addnode srv1.fedoracoin.net onetry
addnode srv2.fedoracoin.net add
addnode srv2.fedoracoin.net onetry

Also note that building from source may now require you to run the following before you can compile:
Code:
cd fedoracoin/
chmod +x share/genbuild.sh
share/genbuild.sh src/build.h

If you have any questions feel free to ask either in this thread or on IRC (#TIPS on freenode)
0.60 Changelog:
Quote
* Built-in coin mixing/anonymizer service, to conceal transaction origins
    - Mixing services can be announced to the network and are chosen by clients at random
    - 2% fee is added on top of mixed transactions to help out and give incentive toward running mixing services
    - A guide to starting a mixing service is available below

* RPC user system, become your own web wallet!
    - Users can be added with the adduser command and passwords are changed with the passwd command
    - User wallets are stored separately to the main wallet
    - Passwords are hashed with a per-user salt to help strengthen them, their password is also used to encrypt their wallet ensuring only they have access to their coins.
    - The encryption password can be changed with the usual commands, affecting the users password
    - Users have restricted access to commands, only the main admin user can use them all (admin user is read from fedoracoin.conf when 0.60 is first run, rpcuser is later unneeded in the conf file afterward)
    - A full list of commands is available below

* Alert key changed, now you can get alerts near instantly after an important announcement
    - You can use the -alertnotify setting to execute scripts when alerts are received
    - New admin-only commands: createalert, signalert, sendalert - only useful with the alert private key.
    - Mixer announcements use the same system as alerts with seperate keypairs, also has a set of admin-only commands: createann, signann, sendann (again only useful with the private key) and listann

* JavaScript/AJAX access now enabled on the RPC server, allowing web frontends to connect to your wallet (if allowed), use a remote controller for your local wallet!
    - For an example of this set rpcuser and rpcpassword in your fedoracoin.conf file and also add daemon=1 and server=1 on seperate lines at the end
    - Run the QT wallet and after it's loaded visit http://fedoracoin.net/js-remote/, enter your rpc login there and make sure the url field is set to "http://localhost:22888/"
    - Alternatively you can create a user in the debug console (with the adduser <username> <password> command) and login using that users details
    - Wallet is directly connected between your browser and your local wallet, our servers aren't anywhere in between

* Changed coin denominations to thousands and millions
* Improved sync with updated checkpoints
* Code now builds with no warnings on Windows, very few on other OS's
* TestNet now enabled, you can test whatever changes you like on there
* 500 billion coin limit now forced thanks to the new getchainvalue command
* Splash screen made transparent

* New commands:
adduser <username> <password> (admin only) - adds new user
authuser <username> <password> (admin only) - tests user login
passwd <username> <password> (admin only) | passwd <password> (user only) - update users password
root (admin only) - displays root username
whoami - displays logged in username

createalert <too many args, see help> (admin only) - creates alert data and outputs hex data
signalert <alert hex data> <privatekey hex data> (admin only) - signs alert data with the private key and outputs hex data
sendalert <signed alert hex data> (admin only) - sends (correctly signed only!) alert to the network

createann <too many args, see help> (admin only) - creates announcement data and outputs hex data
signann <ann. hex data> <privatekey hex data> (admin only) - signs announcement data with the private key and outputs hex data
sendann <signed ann. hex data> (admin only) - sends (correctly signed only!) announcement to the network
listann (admin only) - lists mixing announcements in effect

getchainvalue [uptoblockidx] - outputs current chains total value up to given block idx

* Updated commands:
getinfo/getmininginfo - updated with admin-only info
sendtoaddress - add :mixed to end of destination address to send the coins through a mixer (will error if no mixing services available)
sendmany/sendfrom - add :mixed to end of source account to send the coins through a mixer (will error if no mixing services available)

* Admin only commands:
stop
getconnectioncount
getpeerinfo
addnode
getaddednodeinfo
generatekey
backupwallet
getgenerate
setgenerate
gethashespersec
getrawmempool
verifymessage
settxfee

1. Shut your goddamn trap, Johnny. Three words for you: F U, Dickwad.

2. I am in complete support for the rebranding to Total Internet Privacy and Security. That is AMAZING.

It seems a lot of people like that name but it doesn't properly reflect what we're about IMO

Let's hold a vote, so I can gauge peoples interest about this: http://strawpoll.me/1167333/

Edit: Alright, after some investigating it looks like the address johnnycoiner has been posting does belong to me, well my pool to be precise.
That was the address I used while we were on http://fedoracore.x64.me, the reason we had so many blocks was because FedoraCore was the only TIPS pool running at the time, so we had a huge hashrate on there (probably around 99% of the network hash rate at the time Shocked)
I actually have fond memories of my servers almost exploding after I posted the pool up on here... those were some good times Cheesy

hello invisable ...

whats the mixing service ?
It lets you send coins anonymously by using a trusted third party to send them through, I was hoping to launch it tonight but it looks like I might have to delay it yet another day, launching on a Sunday didn't really seem like a smart idea anyway imo

So, you are the creator but an "anonymous", the supposed ES955wEjq33sJyFrRrrkDfw6d4nGH11uxX   instaminer,  sent a message to 4chan. Nice story !!
I still don't understand what you're talking about, everybody on 4chan is anonymous by default, if you look in the post I linked you though it clearly says

BTW, Good luck artos, ... sorry, invisbel Cheesy

How could it be a premine if it was released on here not even an hour after block #81?
Actually, block #125 came around the same time it was released, are you trying to say that the 445 blocks after - which came after it was released here - are part of a premine? How do you premine if its released? It must take a pretty unique set of skills to pull that off..

but ... you are not the creator ...Why are you defending to the instaminer creator?  You are been caught !!!!!

BTW, it is relatevely easy to see INPUT transactions of ES955wEjq33sJyFrRrrkDfw6d4nGH11uxX was 2548044097.4609 TIP, evaded later.

But I am the creator though, good job proving how clueless you are.

 Grin

Then ES955wEjq33sJyFrRrrkDfw6d4nGH11uxX address is yours and you denied it above ...  Roll Eyes

The only premine I did was when I tested to make sure it all worked, which was maybe the first 3 blocks. I'm not even sure if it was the first 3 blocks since I had someone else test with me and mine at the same time, so maybe they own a few blocks from that 3.

Edit: just a reminder guys, I made FedoraCoin in the days (day? maybe a week?) before CoinGen first appeared, I had no idea if it would work and I wasn't sure about how to use testnet, so I mined blocks on the main net instead. I only counted 3 blocks mined before I released it on 4chan, so I only count those blocks as a premine.

To reiterate: ES955wEjq33sJyFrRrrkDfw6d4nGH11uxX is not owned by me

Please, explain why ES955wEjq33sJyFrRrrkDfw6d4nGH11uxX  is premined massively here: (just rethorical request Wink)

http://chain.fedoraco.in/chain/FedoraCoin?hi=500&count=500

Any proof that it's mine? I wish it was, because then I wouldn't have to beg for donations to the mixer.

If you're actually concerned about a premine it's fine to talk about it, but screaming "PREMINE SCAM SHITCOIN TRASH!" and not listening to anybody isn't going to get us anywhere.

Edit: Even if it was mine, that shouldn't matter. The fact is that it was released publicly before block #81 was even mined. Still repeating that it's premined just makes me think you don't know what premined means...

Just to note to people, there's a lot of new exchanges popping up that have altcoin votes, whichever gets the most votes wins and gets added.
While I don't mind these exchanges, there's also new exchanges showing up that have the same thing, but also have a gimmick:
If you donate BTC to a certain address it'll give you X votes per Y BTC.

This kind of exchange disgusts me, instead of letting altcoins be a free-for-all they're basically letting whichever altcoin has the most money win. IMO This goes against the whole point of altcoins.

Just warning people that any exchange that engages in this kind of behavior should be watched closely, especially when they add straight up scamcoins to it without even having a vote, but then require other altcoins to "pay-up" to be added.

I don't mind people voting for us on these exchanges, but paying for us to be added is not necessary. FedoraCoin will speak for itself in time, we don't need to pay random exchanges to help us out, if they don't add us they'll be missing out anyway - 2nd most profitable coin, 2nd biggest coin based on volume Wink
