1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: tdxminer lyra2z/XZC Miner for AMD GPUs on Linux on: June 05, 2018, 03:52:15 PM
@todxx

Is it possible for a computer novice running SMOS to figure this out?

I also have windows rigs but all my AMDs are just on SMOS hashing ETH.

I have 20 RX 580 8gb that I’d be happy to try this on, I just need so much hand holding that it isn’t worth your time.

Looks interesting, do you have an aprox. order/ship date or not yet?

Mid to Late June for all orders and information. First batch ship a few weeks after.

Thanks GPUH and put me down for 14 of them, best guess.  I haven't made it out to my rigs to know how many m2 slots I have...

To all: does anyone want to help me compile a list of the best parts necessary to run the accelerator? I am such a novice, so forgive me if this isn't helpful.  Here's my first iteration, and of course let me say that I haven't ordered yet and am not "counting on" GPUH to come through or any of that.  Just trying to be ready if this ends up being a "thing."  Without further ado:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?N=100007627%20600307108&IsNodeId=1&Submit=ENE .  This is a starting point that's a filter for the mobos with the most pcie x16 slots.  You have to dig in each one to find out the true numbers - it's not entirely clear to me but it looks like even with that filter, some slots are the x16 length but not x16 strength.  For example, this ASUS one looks to be able to provide 4 slots at x16 strength (power? data? not even sure what x16 is, lol) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182968

As far as CPU's, it looks like they need to be strong but nobody has stated how strong.  It also sounds like iterations of software could come out that rely less on the CPU's strength.  Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

m2: Well obviously you need to have at least 1.  It has been said that 1x m2 slot can work for multiple cards, but it isn't entirely clear whether or not 2 will work better enough to justify buying 2 for 4 cards, 2 for 6 cards, etc.  I could have missed something or obviously something could have went over my head.

@Iamtutut has the x470 which seems a great value.  It's here: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813144177&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Motherboards+-+AMD-_-N82E16813144177&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgMnYBRDRARIsANC2dfk4QffGNjnVh_uI4dD9TGFwDHk6Kz4uV5Dxoz2wodzJ5Pi1dkECO8waAt7kEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

It indicates it has 3 x16 slots, but one covers up an m2.  That will probably be OK (3 GPU's on 1 m2 connected FPGA accelerator), but I def am not an authority.  That represents my best target on first pass.

Hopefully this helps, spurns some discussion and research.

Thanks,

Nate

Looking to buy between 100 and 200 used RX-570/580 or 470/480 GPU's. Can be 4 or 8 GB.

Ideally want to get them from 1 source.

Will be buying them within the next week.

Let me know what you have!

@yochdog

Check put one another’s threads.

I have 20 AMD 8gb 580s. They can be for sale too.

This guy is the real deal.  Can confirm that everything about the transaction was professional.

I live just north of Chicago, so I preferred to drive down and pick the cards up, just to make sure everything was copacetic.  Even before the drive, the OP and his business partner were in touch via text and answered all questions quickly and thoroughly.  He even drove north a little to meet me, and had a receipt and general Bill of Sale that I had requested (giving me a small window to return the cards if they were DOA).

So all-in-all, dude doesn't F around, is a good person to boot, and would recommend without hesitation.

I have 25 used EVGA 1080ti SC Black Edition Gaming for sale (Model 11G-P4-6393-KR)

Used for approx 6 months in a very well cooled setup (intake fans right behind blowing cool outside air over and exhaust immediately in front pulling through).  As you can see from pics below of one of the cards, there is little to no dust as a result. I have been mining only Lyra2z so power consumption has been low.

Comes with manufacturer's warranty that I have never used. Never registered any of the cards. Comes with original packaging and all original materials.

Selling for $760 a piece + shipping. Paypal or btc (btc will require reputable forum escrow). I can provide proof pics if needed.

Is this in the U.S.? If so, what zip are you shipping from? Thanks!
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much could I get sell a 4-GPU (RX 580) rig, right now? on: March 27, 2018, 09:00:24 PM
Ebay is a really good resource.  Just search for RX 580 and then select the option to show sold listings.  from there, you can get an idea for how much they are selling for.  Exception to that: you may see some ridiculous low prices that are scam attempts and invalid.  Judgement call on your part to determine what's a valid price but it's usually not too hard to figure out.

Personally, I just did Craigslist and sold locally and I'm in a weird/limited market place... sort of geographically isolated comparatively but it all worked out fine.  Good thing about CL compared to Ebay is you don't have to worry as much about fees, packaging, and returns.  Just don't be a jerk and sell crappy gear or else I can imagine other bad things happening.  I've heard stories.

But yeah, I really like CL lately.  It just depends on the margin between sales and hassle between various resale options.  I was really pleased to use some used GPU's I picked up off ebay and then sold them for a little bit more after mining with them for several months.  What could be better than that?  lol

I agree, Ebay is a great resource to compare prices. Only issue I have with actually using Ebay to sell with, is that I just can't trust shipping carriers with a mining rig. I used to work for a shipping carrier and i know that there are a LOT of workers who don't care for a fragile sticker. I might just take your route and take the CL approach.

Just spoke to a dude in greater Chicago who is selling rigs with 9x RX 580 8gb for $3500...
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much could I get sell a 4-GPU (RX 580) rig, right now? on: March 27, 2018, 02:54:25 PM
I loved building it, and love mining, but kinda thinking that with prices the way they are (gpus overpriced, coins underpriced) it might be worth it to flip it, buy some BTC/alts, wait for a pump and then sell and the buy more gpus and build another rig. Might be crazy but I see people asking insane prices for ready-built rigs on craigslist. Thoughts?

Excellent question.  To answer your question, I think for a 4x 580 rig, you could get $2200.  I base this on what I see on CL in the Chicago area.  That's roughly $300/used card, +$500 parts +$500 building/helping someone to get it working.  I haven't done any extensive study, but I am inclined to think that it varies city-to-city based on electric costs.

I've also found that right now, people seem more interested in the cards versus the rigs - if I am you, I'd consider selling the cards as a bundle only and keep the rig while you flip the GPU proceeds over to a coin or just cash.  This is an eBay query for used cards that have recently sold (I did nitro 8gb):
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_ItemCondition=3000&_nkw=rx%20580%20nitro%208gb&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
I am not a seller there but it looks like selling on eBay costs a ton: somebody told me 13%! So if these cards are going for say $350 on average, maybe you can sell them for $300-$325 each, depending on how much of a time commitment you want to make.

I think the summer rolls around and garage miners start feeling the heat ( Cheesy) and that's when you'll see used card prices start to come back to earth.  In fact, if crypto doesn't rally HARD between now and say June, you'll start to see rigs and cards everywhere.  So if you're going to sell, do so soon, so that you can be patient.

EDIT: spelling
