1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLO] Florin|The original transaction message coin|Required updated 0.6.5.8 on: January 15, 2014, 07:28:00 AM
Thanks for the clarification!

I'm running v0.6.5.8 in a Windows 7 64bit vbox in linux. (You probably didn't need to know all of that, but sometimes specifics can help debug; especially with guest os's)

This may not be the best place to ask, but what is the recommended solution if this something like this were to happen again?
I'm not saying it will, the florin wallet seems solid, I've never had an issue before, but just in case.

Thanks again!

I'm hoping some one can help me out here...

I had a recent issue with my wallet.  I tried to send some coins elsewhere, and they were not getting confirmations.  24 hours later they were just sitting with no confirmations.  So I exported my private key, backed up my wallet, and restarted.

Everything looked like it was going okay, but once I was synced with the network my total coin count dropped... by quite a bit.

I started going through the block explorer (going back and forth between my old wallet and newly synced wallet) to find where things went wrong, and it seems as though every single block I solo mined shows a different random address?!

The following are just a few TransactionID's with the corresponding address according to the block explorer....

I can keep going on but I think you get the idea. (I can also show pictures if people want visuals for what I'm seeing).
So is this a bug in the block explorer?  How can I get my solo blocks?  Am I just screwed?  Is Florin broken?

Please help
Just out of curiosity if any one else has any solo mined blocks would they be willing to look and see on the block explorer if the transID match the correct address?

Thanks for any help

[UPDATE]
So randomly after my wallet was just sitting here and everything was synced it sent my coins out.   The amount it shows being sent in the wallet transaction is not correct, but the amount for the transaction in the block explorer shows the correct amount.  I'm not really sure what's going on (and why it would randomly decide to resend the transaction I made 24 hours earlier), but at least for now it looks like the correct amount of coins are going through?

The exchange looks amazing, but before I start pointing my miners at your network and mine like crazy....

The block explorer shows there's been pre-mining going on since at least August? Are you planning on a clean slate of this pre-launch.  I see you specifically say the coins are pre-mined (you actually only mention the federation coin is pre-mined, but it looks like they all are), but 4 months of pre-mining seems like a lot to be given out for bounties and rewards.

I'm not making accusations, I just want some clarifications (as I'm sure many others who look at the blocks will).
Thanks, and awesome work.

[Edit] Thanks for the clarification. Looks good! [Edit]
4  Other / Beginners & Help / P2Pool Consistency Help. on: December 21, 2013, 04:57:03 PM
I was wondering if there is something that can be done to get a more consistent hash rate on P2pools (I would insert images to show exactly what I mean, but it seems as though I can't upload images to the forum so hopefully my description will be sufficient).

When looking at the graphs over a 24 hour period my hash rate oscillates +/- quite a bit.  When looking at my graph over the period of an hour there are times all over the place where it reports I have 0 hashes/sec.

From looking at other peoples graphs it looks like there are a lot of people in the same boat, but there are always several people who get nice consistent graphs which never show 0 hashes/sec.  I was wondering what causes this, and if there is a way to keep a consistent reading for my hashes?

I have double checked that my GPU's are stable. I also have multiple machines going so I would think one would always report some hashes and not give me a total of 0.  I've also wondered if this isn't a latency issue with the pools, or the network?

Any help, info, or answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I have fixed the issue for now.

Thanks for all the replies. I went with a box fan.  I then use the side panel at an angle to help direct as much of the air flow as possible into the case and it has worked miracles.  Both cards will now run at about 78 under full load!

To respond to some specific suggestions....
I don't really want to introduce ice into the case, this seems like a lot of work, and very prone to accidents.  Good idea, but just not for me.

Flyingweasel, I have this exact setup as well, but I don't think my case is large enough to get enough room between the cards to help.  I have 2 fans in front pulling. 2 on top, front one pulling rear pushing. 2 side fans pulling, and one rear pushing out heat.  They are all corsair fans, but it just wasn't doing the trick Sad.  I think it's because this specific machine is a smaller case.  When I built it I hadn't planned for 2 GPU's under 100% load for days Smiley

Again thanks for all the help.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW COINS IN THE MARKET HAS A POTENTIAL TO GO ROCKET HIGH ? on: December 20, 2013, 10:24:48 PM
One coin that I have been watching recently that isn't listed is Florin Coin.

I personally like the coin because it adds transaction comments.  It seems (this is 100% my opinion, so if the coin fizzles and dies when the alt coins start dropping don't haunt me please) that the coins that offer something unique tend to do better over time.

Again, this is just my opinion. I'm sure there are plenty of people who are cringing at the site of my response, but you are looking for what people think.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Questions about cpu and gpu mining: on: December 20, 2013, 10:13:45 PM
Doing both is definitely doable.

You can't use cuda miner though on the CPU. You'll have to use something like pool's miner.  If you have a nice CPU there are some things to be cautious about.

1.  You'll be running CPU and GPU at 100% more than likely which if your PSU can't support will cause it to blow.
    - Games never use both at 100% so it will really stress the system
2.  You'll be outputting a lot more heat.  So things can get really toasty in a case.
3.  You won't get much more hash/sec with cpu mining.  As a benchmark I could only get around 90kh/s using an intel i7 4770k, and about the same with an i7 3930k
    - So you might be using more power than it's worth.

As a new member I had to think of something important to ask to be qualified to post in other areas, and wanted to ask something useful that I've been having an issue with.... Heat.

Currently I'm running 2x r 280x cards in a computer case.  The idea is/was buy the cards now, put them in my current case (replacing the nVidia card temporarily), and if things are going well after a month invest in a cheap motherboard, risers, psu, etc.  I didn't want to invest the extra $$$ in the hardware if the difficulty keeps growing exponentially.  I fear that the cost to continue mining will shortly be outweighed by the income (I am holding all coins in the hopes that value only increases over the next year).

I've been running these 2 cards now for a week, and have to throttle them which seems like a waste of money.  They can easily get 700kh/s, but to avoid burning down my apartment building I leave them throttled to about 600kh/s.  Even at these speeds the cards sit at around 83 Celsius with the side panel off, good airflow, and more fans than the case can even support directed at them.

So my question is; are there any recommendations to cheaply lower the temps more? I've thought about adding a desk fan to the configuration, or even using some extra dryer ducts going out the window but I don't trust the area I live in to leave the windows open when I'm not around.

Any tips, ideas, or unique solutions that are escaping me would be greatly appreciated!

As a side note the computer as is is heating my apartment quite nicely Smiley   The thermostat is sitting at 60 Fahrenheit, but the room temperature is sitting at 71-73.  Although today the outside temperature went up a lot (it's been below 30 degrees recently, and today and this weekend it's suppose to get up to the mid 60's) so I have a feeling I might be walking into a sauna when I get home.
