What are the major differences of Metacoin from many other quark-based coins?
ZERO premine... A very fair, open, honest launch... Not being promoted by pump and dump scammers... Very reasonable block rewards... I would really like to see this go as far as becoming an actual currency. And yes, I am mining it.

It's a 10% premine. Let us all be clear on that.
Now, if things go as they typically do with these new coin launches, there will be "mistakes" at launch, or "errors" or however you want to put it nicely.
The devs will all be able to mine like mad, and the pools/early miners will end up with jack shit. Once all of the "early" block bonuses are all claimed, the errors will be magically fixed.
As was already said (very well I might add)....
oh look, this scam again

I can't sync ,need more nodes!
Make sure that is in your metacoin.conf file. It is the only peer that is listed as "syncnode=true" in my peer list.

You can have 3 votes per hour if you are not registered, and 6 per hour if you are registered. Be sure to vote ALL THREE TIMES (or 6 times, as the case may be) every hour. Let's try to get this on an exchange! Oh, and ANYONE who can step up and help the developer out, please do so!!! See his list above, which includes IDEAS. Jump in and help out if you can!

You say it isn't premined.... But it IS premined.
Ever heard of a test net?
It's premined.

Greetings
The dev said he changed his plans, and is sticking around. He is looking for help with various aspects of managing the coin. A pretty solid launch, no premine, no stupid (stolen) copyrighted cartoon characters, no stealing of celebrity names..... I would say he got a lot of things right. I am looking forward to the future of this coin. I think the dev is a little overwhelmed at the moment. I am hoping people step up to help him out.

3000 blocks already?
Nah, no pre-mine there at all! WTF!!!!!!
|
|
|
wtf,who can tell me what happened.
I lost all coins.
this block sudently change from 600+ to 1700+
The devs didnt post working nodes. And the other nodes we added made a fork. Now suddenly the devs nodes reconnected and BOOM, fork gone. Blame the devs. fucking devs.they mined more than 1700*100=170,000 coin lol It's another premine mode!!! 360998186, post your wallet address. Being that I only have a couple of old, beat up cpu miners (core 2 generation at that), this is the first time that I have ever felt I had enough of a coin to donate! LOL

Well. Here is the patch for the source http://sprunge.us/MNGOSave as and put it in metacoin-master directory and run from there Feel free to donate: 94T7piqJuuZNwAmCpr8yciF7ST6bqamyck I lost 800 in the fork. Well, I know you have at least 20 in your wallet now. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

Basically.....
Fuck off pricks. Goldman Sachs involvement? What assholes. It will be fun watching this one die.

it's a great way for people to mine everything else than the good coins so they can focus on mining the good stuff without the difficulty going up. Can you imagine the hashing power all focus on DGC, LTC, MNC, PPC, XPM etc? Hoe much difficulty would grow? it's a shiny distraction so they focus on the good stuff without you taking it ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Ladies and gentlemen, WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Someone please give this fine man a Cuban cigar!

How much physical memory do you have on the i-5 that segmentation faulted?
Does N-Factor=12 or N-Factor=13 work properly?

Yep. Another shit SCAM coin. Already at block 2105. Difficulty at 5693.09 ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Pump & Dump The problem is, no one has been able to pump ANY of these recent turds. Just wait a bit though, this place will be crawling with morons who can't wait to mine ANYTHING, on the hopes that they will get rich.

In the wallet, clicked on Help, Debug, Information......
The number of blocks is going up at a rate of 1 to 2 blocks per second. From my understanding, this will pretty much assure that ALL blocks found will be orphans. If I am incorrect on this, I would sure like an explanation as to how a valid block is ever going to show up at that rate.
Whoever called it GRiftCoin, you nailed it. What a steaming pile of shit.

This may sound crazy, but so be it. A friend of mine ran in to the EXACT same problem. When he went from 2 gigs of RAM to 4 gigs, it solved the problem.
He was trying to cheap out on the build. Started with 1 gig, it wouldn't run worth a damn. Went to 2 gigs and it ran 1 card fine, but the same issues as yourself when trying to run 2 cards.
I just confirmed all of this with him, so if your issues persist, add memory. And, as a side note, if it fixes the problem, please post a follow-up reply.

Good morning/evening/day, as the case may be!
Thank you for your post, Versterk!
Like yourself, I too am joining. I decided that I had been lurking long enough. Once I joined I saw that I had to make an initial post in the Noob section. No wonder I couldn't find the darn REPLY button in any of the other forums!
I found that my old Atari computers were inadequate for mining as well, even my much beloved 130xe.
My guess is that it is high time I purchase some R9 based cards.
