Hi nitrous, I tried running the app in OS X 1.6.8 (snow leopard). But it crashes after I select the dump file name in (File->new dump). It prints segmentation fault at the prompt. I was able to track the error to self.update() call at the end Application.load_dump function at gui.py file (line 217). It actually inconsistent, when I place some print around update() call, it works some time. Anyway, it ran fine when I commented the self.update() line out. I think this function updates window visual after update_button state is set to normal, isn't it? I don't have a better idea of what it could be. I empathized with Erik's struggle to explain how bitcoin limits its total. I have been trying to come up with a way of explaining how bitcoins are created. One of these days I answered a question which I believe is in a good direction of solving the issue. It is very important to add that when it is settled which block of transfers are to be written to the blockchain, one cannot simply put any transfers in the block. Every node actually checks if all transfers are valid. Meaning they check if the source address has the funds to be transfered to next address. With one single exception, it is allowed to make one sourceless transfer of a defined amount, which currently is 25 bitcoin, which is how bitcoins are created.
In bitcoin, what a person actually have are you account (called public address) and the password to that account (private key). The private key allows you to transfer any coins that were transfered to the corresponding public address to another public address. So as long as you have a copy of the private key you have access to the coins. If you only have a single copy of the private key in a flashdrive and than it is destroyed you will lose the coins. Obviously you make some copies of the private key to be safe of that possibility.
By now I suppose you can see why you cannot simply copy bitcoins. You can copy the key, but the key only gives the bearer access to the coins in the address. Here is the full text where I wrote this. I generally get that when I try to say it is free. People wonder what are
the incentives to run the network.

e diz que já passou os bitcoins adiante e que não sabia que era roubado.
Ou usa um mixer para fazer o trabalho acima para você. O que deixa mais dificil de rastrear.
Imagino que teu ingles não esta muito bom não né... o restante do forum, o wiki e o stackoverflow de bitcoin
tem muito material... dá para ficar semanas só lendo eles. Como eu fiquei.

This part is factually incorrect. What half life means is that given a sample of radioactive material, half of it will have disintegrated in that time. This is not the case for BTC blocks at all, probably l'Hospital would be more adequate to calculate likeliness of blocks not being solved in 10 minutes (they have 1/diff chances to be solved each hash, so after diff hashes their chances to be solved are X). Hence the double quotes. |

Ever played any online game with ingame currency? There are no pricetags in dollars. Well at least used to in Diablo III that is possible too. The difference here is item prices in dollar follow their ingame gold value not verse visa.
That's the point I'm trying to make if bitcoin started as a trading tool for something valuable but not necessarily costly (for example game items or pictures) it would have evolved very differently. It's already too late for that since we have almost half of all bitcoins valued in dollar instead of something fundamental.
I wouldn't say it's too late to change that… I just wrote that because I can't think of any. I'm open to suggestions... and I mean it. It does't matter, if it happened as you said (game items for bitcoin), then you can know the exchange rate between dollars and bitcoin by knowing the price in dollars of the game items. Dollars, and currency in general are used as the common denominator because it is a more widespread commodity than game items. That's the function of money, to serve as a means of comparison. |

Pelo que andei vendo você esta querendo comprar aproximadamente 120 bitcoins. Porque você não usa o Mercado Bitcoin? Os preços são um pouco acima da cotação do mtgox, se você quiser pagar a cotação do mtgox, você terá que enviar o dinheiro para lá.
Deixa sua ordem de compra no Mercado Bitcoin, se o seu preço não for muito baixo alguem vai lá e te vende os bitcoins.

Congelar cotação? Acho que não entendi direito. Não existe ninguem que tenha o poder de congelar a cotação do bitcoin. E quando eu falei de fixar o preço e me referia a fixar levemente. Se o preço do bitcoin subir o suficiente ao ponto de seus lucros diminuir muito você aumenta o preço em bitcoin do produto, assim como você o faria com o preço em real.

Aceita Cartao de credito, boleto, TEF... Nem todo mundo tem banco do brasil. Se coloque no lugar de alguem que não tem conta no banco do brasil e você entenderá. Quando bitinstant chegar, chegou... por enquanto que quer brincar com bitcoin por 15 tem agora uma forma muito fácil de faze-lo! André, eu colocaria mais alguma opções de onde depositar o bitcoin. (Provavelmente já na sua todo list). Criar um instawallet ou blockchain.info wallet e enviar o endereço para o email do comprador. Criar um endereco e chave privada e envia-lo por email para o comprador. A idéia é que o comprador não precisaria criar o endereço antes de comprar o bitcoin. Talvez colocar as outras opções em uma drop-down list para não poluir o site. Eu colocaria no email as instruções de como utilizar o bitcoin comprado. |

First, the design you make for a foundry cannot just simply be sent to another foundry. Every design is very foundry specific. In the fabless world everything is operated under NDAs. You cannot simply broadcast you design unless the foundry has checked that you didn't disclose any of the foundries classified information. You cannot even start to design without signing a NDA, because you cannot get the basic information to start with.

Só sugerindo uma perspectiva que você pode olhar.
Você acredita em bitcoins ou só quer adicionar uma forma de pagamento? Se você acredita em bitcoin suponho que você vai mante-los enquanto não for necessário transforma-los em reais. Sendo assim vale a pena olha da perspectiva do cliente que de bitcoin. O cliente que comprar com bitcoin será aquele que já tem bitcoins e não o que irá comprar bitcoins para depois comprar suas roupas. Um preço estável fará com que o comprador não se procupe com a útlima cotação. Se o preço for atrelado ao real, e só tenderá a comprar no dia que o bitcoin estiver valorizado estando assim com o preço em bitcoin baixo, o que não é bom para você. Um preço em bitcoin fixo também incentivará as pessoas a migrarem para bitcoin pois saberão que o preço não flutua o tempo todo. Mais pessoas migrando para bitcoin aumentará o valor do bitcoin e como você estará segurando bitcoin maior o ganho.
Nos último dois meses o cotação variou ±10%, 10% é crítico para sua loja? Se você acredita em bitcoins o valor vai subir. E olhando do ponto de vista prático, você não vai ter muitos clientes comprando em bitcoins mesmo. Pelo menos não durante um bom tempo.

De quanto seria a taxa para uma transferencia dessa, tem alguma noção? O preço do wire transfer é um valor fixo. No Banco do Brasil se não me falha a memoria são uns 50 reais. De acordo com esse blog. O banco Real cobra $50 e o Bradesco cobra $200. E não tem custo de IOF. Obviamente que uma conversão pra dollar terá que ser feita. Nisso você tem varias opções o banco do mtgox cobra 2.5% para na conversão. Seu banco talvez cobre mesmo vale a pena checar. No BB da para fazer wire-transfer por internet.
