Mind showing me where you found the 5830's for that price, and actually in stock? I'm looking around online and finding absolutely nothing in stock for a price of less than like $200....

One other thing I didn't mention, is electricity costs are irrelevant to me. I live in the barracks, so that's all paid for.
My ONLY internal conflict right now is this:
Upgrade Current PC for part time mining while I'm sleeping/not gaming, then later on down the line build a dedicated rig
OR
Just go straight for the dedicated rig.

nVidia cards=Raise all values ATi cards=Drop mem Now then, The best bang for buck cards are ACTUALLY not the 58xx's It is the 5830's!! Im running a $114 Shappire 5830 @260mhashes. Beat that! the $140XFX ones hit 290mhashes wich is Much better. I have a Dual 6990 rig and i regret it, Each core pulls 334mhashes and each card has two gpus, So 1300mhash/sec, Cards were 750ea AND THE MOTHER FUCKERS ARE HOT, 100°'s when fan speeds are at 100%, and the case has around 8fans in it aswell. Altough, if i take off the sidepanel, And stick a Massive desktop fan right next to it (the really big ones 120V 50W) then the fan speeds drop to 80% and the temps drop to a beautiful 85°. Do not buy 6990's unless you are accounting for Moores Law, If your just mining, Buy a fuckload of 5830's, They run cold, Overclock well, And suck at gaming, PERFECT MINING CARD https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparisonAs for "nVidia cards=Raise all values ATi cards=Drop mem" I actually found that incorrect. As I stated earlier, my hashrate hasn't changed., but yet my gpu's are running 10C cooler with the underclocked memory. As far as the rest goes, I'm not sure whether to build a dedicated rig or to just turn my gaming rig into a part time miner for now, then build a rig later. That's the biggest battle I'm currently fighting with myself. I'm seriously considering just upgrading/converting my current pc to a part time miner, then later on down the road, build a second PC as a full time miner.

Rewards are being fixed right now on the blocks.
Glad to see you're working on this. I've been watching my stats and wondering why it hasn't looked right.

Well, I did a little reading earlier while I was at work, and discovered that the memory clock was virtually unneeded while mining, so I underclocked that as low as it will go. That dropped my average temp by around 10C from 90 to 80, and I'm still able to use my system normally (this is, not gaming. If I game, I pause the miners)
Currently I have the Core clock overclocked to 850, and the mem clock underclocked to 1400, and I'm getting ~120mhash/s per card.
Anything else I can do to increase stability/hash rate, or is this about the max I'll get with my current setup.
Also, i've been pricing cards on newegg, and I'm highly considering making the upgrade/switch within the next few days, to possibly the next week, so any more suggestions on cards would be great. If any other info is needed about my system, just let me know and I'll provide it asap.

Anyone able to help? Also, if I don't go for a dedicated rig, but rather decide to just change out my video cards (I've already done the research, and my Mobo will support the ATI cards, so that's not a problem) - What would be a good equivilent to the 480's, or possibly something better in regards to gaming, as I was already planning on upgrading, this may just be the step that forces my hand.

Hey guys,
I've just started getting into mining, and just had a few questions regarding these cards.
I already know that for mining, the EVGA cards aren't the way to go, but I'm starting out with an already built system, and plan on using this for a bit while I debate whether or not I'm going to actually invest in a dedicated rig.
I'm currently using the GUIMiner on BTCGuild server, and I'm getting around 115Mhash/s per GPU. (I have 2x running)
I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips as far as the flags go, as I've looked around and haven't seen much in the way of the NVIDIA GPU Chipset.
I'm also somewhat curious as to what kind of settings I can set to be able to use my system while it mines, and not worry about lag, as I experience quite a bit of lag with it running, and have also experienced system failures on occasion. Also wondering if there's anything I can do to possibly increase my average hash rate with my current setup.
Any tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm Still waiting for my motherboards to arrive, and when they do they will sit under the GPU's (I built two of those Kinex frames). The frames are actually strong enough to support being picked up Also sorry for the huge image. I'm going to say, this is the most awesome use of K'Nex i've ever seen. Kudos to you
