Oh another ''new'' user with yet another thread about spam, how original...
I don't understand.  Undecided

New to this, yeah, new to forums, no.

I've been active on Quora, Steam forums, Overwatch forums for a super long time now, and as iasenko said, this one is very different to the rest, with heaps of income opportunities.

I'm a signature designer if ever you need one don't hesitate to contact me or much better start a designing competition for the signature needed in your project.

The link to my portfolio can be seen on my profile.

Hey suboz, don't get discouraged... There are a bunch of cool mofos here, but unfortunately, it'll take some time to learn which boards/subs to watch out for and which to ignore. Unfortunately "Bitcoin Discussion" is just a breeding ground for spammers with the sole intent to rank up their activity and member ranks. My favorite feature (regarding these shitposters) is the "Ignore" link, found under every user's information in each post. Just clicking on the "Ignore" will now add that user to your ignore list. While it will still show that the specific user has posted, it won't display their content.

Take a look at the challenge that I'm offering (copy and paste the link in my personal text, under my avatar). I'm trying to hold the hands of (mainly) newbies and shitposters to help them learn how not to shitpost, but you'll find some great lower-ranked members there who actually try very hard to be contributive.

Unfortunately, as others have stated, this forum (which just rolled over it's 2-millionth registered user) is filled with members whose sole purposes are to earn money from bounties and campaigns.

If you learn how to start ignoring those users and staying away from their playgrounds (Bitcoin Discussion, Speculation, etc), you'll actually enjoy your experience here. My second biggest tip of advice? Don't be afraid to view each board/sub-board; just because you're not that technical doesn't mean that you won't find some amazing posts in the Development and Technical Discussion board...

Have fun, and PM me if you have any questions!
Cheers BTCforJoe! I'll go take a look at the challenge link you've provided me and help contribute.

Yeah, I'm not that knowledgeable with BTC, know what segwit is and the basics of bitcoin, fees, etc, but I had a look at the technical session and I swear everyone there is a bitcoin dev!

Some other boards that look cool are scam accusations - a lot of smart people and detective there preventing scams. Can't really find any spammers in those 2 sections so I'll probably stick there.

Welcome to the forum, there are a lot of shit posts to wade through, you might feel like you’re in danger of drowning in them at times but this forum is invaluable as a newbie picking up tips & bits of info to maximise your crypto potential & to keep your coins safe.
Yeah, some sections are great for knowledge.

The merit system was introduced to try to reduce spam. It has been a great help, but it has introduced a whole new begging structure, with people vying with each other to find the best way to beg without appearing to do so.
Word up.  And OP, I'm totally with you.  When I started lurking here around 2014 or so, right around the time of the full Mt. Gox meltdown, the first thing I noticed was all the nonsense posts--exactly what you pointed out.  To me, there seemed to be no reason that anyone of sound mind would waste time posting that sort of thing.

....And then I discovered the reason.  And it's the reason why probably 85% of users are registered here:  Signature campaigns.  They're actually getting paid to post garbage.

It's such a fantastic, novel concept, too.  I'm in a campaign myself and I see the appeal it has, the ability to earn bitcoin by just writing some posts.  Unfortunately, most campaigns only pay for posts in the main board, which is English.  A lot of users who've come here just for the sig campaign paycheck can't write very well, and they have certain phrases they know and use over and over and over, regardless of whether it's appropriate for the context of a given thread.

Then you have a multitude of alt accounts on top of that, and you've got users enrolling >1 account in sig campaigns and thereby cheating them.  And if you use just a little bit of imagination, you'll be able to grasp how chaotic it can become here.

My suggestion:  Avoid the Economics and Bitcoin Discussion sections, because that's where the thread titles are these vague questions that shitposters have pre-written answers to, and they just do a little spin trick and it becomes a bullshit reassembly factory, and the finished product is nothing you'd want to read.  Check out Serious Discussion, Meta, and some of the others and you'll get a feel for which sections haven't been infiltrated by the goon squad.
Ah, I had a look in services and I can see the appeal signature campaigns have. I saw one of them paying out like 300 USD a week! And this is when BTC is dipping! I can definitely see someone buying 4-5 accounts and just posting for 4 hours a day and getting 1.5k USD a week. Defi8ently seems like a possible job, but I assume signature campaigns weren't designed in that way, correct? Bounties look cool though, but a lot of spammers. Might dabble in that...

Also do not forget to Stake your Bitcoin address here for you account recovery features.
Thanks, mdayonliner!

I'll definitely get my ledger set up soon and figure out how to sign a message. But my password is pretty safe and I'm using randomly generated passwords from lastpass, so I don't think I'll get hacked.

Yes, Bitcoin Discussion section is a spam pool for signature campaigns, often posted on extra-long threads on meaningless topics about a certain bitcoin price, or what kind of lambo one wants. That is probably the reason why the Bitcoin Discussion section gets the least amount of sMerit of all the main sections.

I tend to only look at threads in that section that have recently been created and don´t have endless pages of replies as a first filter when reading posts there.

Agreed, thanks for the tips!

Hey, I've recieved a ton of messages today and am in the progress of sifting through the applications.

So far, I've found a community manager for the GMT/GMT+1 time and am still looking for a GMT+8  - GMT +12.

If you've sent me a pm with any sort of hard to understand english, I'm sorry, but we won't be working together. I'll need someone with perfect english skills.

If I was interested in your services, I've responded, otherwise sorry and I hope we can work together in the near future Smiley

PS - Not interested in campaign management services.

PPS- Still looking for a designer, anyone got suggestions?

Hello bitcointalk!

I was tasked with finding someone to accompany me help manage an ico and I am currently looking for

- 2 community managers, prefferably one GMT time and one GMT+8  - GMT +12

The 2 community managers must have good synergy and they should hopefully know each other well, to be able to provide a 24/7 service. They will need to moderate telegram, bitcointalk ann, twitter and facebook.

Designer must should be able to create an ann thread and be able to provide editable files for it.*

*Must have portfolio

If you are interested please leave a comment down here or pm me.

9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MEGATRON - SCAM PROJECT + BUMPING (with proof) on: April 07, 2018, 01:39:48 AM
About the last picture...

This guy he got matched with is Zac something (forgot his last name). He's the founder of a project that my friend showed me a couple months back when I was getting into crypto. Not sure if this helps, but it is something.

The woman in the photo also seems photoshopped IMO.

Is this 2 companies or 1? I'm confused.

SCAMMER

EDIT - Not sure why the picture isn't showing up Sad
10  Economy / Reputation / Re: Nexybit, horrible rates, Self escrow and accepts bounty campaign (only) posters. on: April 07, 2018, 01:32:59 AM
I made this post and he responded with this.

I checked out this section and it looks like the people who are running signature campaigns are legendary or have some of the green trust.

You have neither? Shouldn't you be using a middleman so no one gets scammed?

If you feel uncomfortable about participating now, you can wait a few cycles. We intend to carry on this campaign for a while.  Smiley
I think he's going to scam for the first 2 weeks and then just run off with free advertising. With this post he is basically avoiding to use middleman and having 0.5 BTC doesn't necessarily mean you will pay out the 0.5 BTC. I hope I am wrong here...

Also getting paid 40 cents a post seems hella nice.

11  Other / Meta / Re: New here! A lot of weird shit... on: April 07, 2018, 01:25:13 AM
Maybe introduce yourself first in Beginners & Help board at the very least you would have a basic understanding of what sort of shit will lighten up the face of  (face palm) members.

You're probably not getting a lot of attention, because your title doesn't give any indication of what your thread is about. You could mention spam, abuse, prevention, policy, etc. Just saying "weird shit" is not interesting for almost anyone to click on.

You can read more about merit, here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0 , this is the official announcement thread from the forum owner at the time of it's implementation. Within this thread is every question and discussion about merit that has been thought of as relevant.

Tag refers to a DT (Default Trust) member leaving a negative reputation on your account. The ratings left by DT members are "Trusted" by default and therefore hold a lot of value when considering the standing of your account/reputation. You can read more about the Trust system here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0

One last thing, this is not the correct board for all of these questions. I would assume it to be more appropriate for this kind of thread to be posted in the Beginner's & Help board. I also would suggest utilizing the Search function within the navigation pane, as this will save you a lot of time and posts.

It would be sort of misleading but I think this kind of newbie questioning is only an attempt to receive a few merit.
The way I read the statements show that this user have a basic understanding of bitcoin/merit just hiding the true purpose of thread somehow.
I do hope in all assessment that I'm completely wrong.

The merit system was introduced to try to reduce spam. It has been a great help, but it has introduced a whole new begging structure, with people vying with each other to find the best way to beg without appearing to do so.

intrinsically speaking this is unnatural phenomenon.

I wrote a similar post back in August when I was a newbie. Did I do it to earn merits?
Fuck bag I don't want to be rude but your statements is utterly unmundane to read you quoted my post yet you cut the most important part I will rephrase it again for you I do hope in all assessment that I'm completely wrong. in what words you didn't quite understand from that phrase perhaps you should read throughly to the end. However there's no point my post is edited one to save the forum from overloading post about merit stuff and not enough time to archive the shit.

P.S But if somehow I distracted you for creating a loop in your mind so you can constantly post about what you think sorry pal that's not gonna work every time I do know that merit system was not introduced last August so it is completely humane to understand that your post is absolutely not about merit talk, read read read my friend it could be last quality that can save mother dick.
Well thanks for the comment but I didn't even understand what merit is until now, so...

Just saw this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3260277.0

What's merit? Why is being treated like blood? Seems a bit too far IMO...

Also, what is "tag", the user said that he'll be tagged? Confusing...  Embarrassed

Hello Everyone, suboz here!

So i recently bought my first bitcoin and first 10 ethereum when a friend told me about the dip. Seems like a good time to get in the crypto market.  Cool

So after google some bitcoin stuff and trying to learn and I found this website, and it seemed like a match made in heaven!

I wanted some investment tips and also wanted to find a place where there are an assortment of new projects and cool people to talk too, but after making my first post and heading over to bitcoin discussion, I found a lot of trash to be honest...

First thread I found was this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3040159.0 (Why are you investing in Bitcoin?) and I ready to read a couple hundred cool stories of how people got into BTC but instead basically read 10 mins worth of like bot answers...

Half of the 50 pages where just people saying this in different words

The main reason I invest into bitcoin because I'm sure that someday bitcoin will be used more people, it certainly gives a positive hope for us so with invest now then we will be successful and rich in few years.

So much spam! What's being done about it?

Sorry if i'm too harsh, just really like the forum!
