According to that thread you need BTC to pay people their winnings.
4  Economy / Auctions / coinminingpools.net on: January 09, 2014, 02:37:35 PM
Was going to start a mining pools comparison site but technically its beyond me.  Plus I don't know enough about the subject myself to claim to be an authority on it, everytime I tried to set it up to have user reviews etc I made a mess of the thing!

It's a shame as it wouldve been a decent affiliate opportunity for hardware aswell as the pools themselves, also the possibility of having a tie in with one pool that rubbishes the rest to drive more people towards them is there, even though I personally wouldnt want to be involved in it.

The domain name is whoever wants it, bids starting at 0.00000000 and ending in 4 days time from today.

Have the domain registered for a year with Bluehost, runs out next January.

I won't do this for less and frankly always wanted to do this

lol.  Did you get several thousand pounds for your other tatoos?  I'm sure the price would be more justified had you had none.

Towards the end of this thread makes interesting reading.

I'm going to say youre full of it, 2000+ members sounds like BS.

You don't even have a guaranteed income stream from a basic poker site on there, nevermind an online casino.  I've worked for bookmakers online for 10 years and to have neither is suicidal, plenty of books now only offer the sports bets/inplay etc as a means to advertise the more secure income streams.

The sites never worth the money he claims it is.

I have a question.

For all the extra hassle it will cause having multiple stakeholders looking for payouts when you inevitably have a bad month/run, what do you gain by making less BTC's overall in a one off sale of shares than you expect to make in a normal month?

Whats the legal status of shareholders RE:your local gambling legislation?  Do they need to be licensed?

What country is the site based in?  Is it likely to be shut down OR is it set up in a territory that offers no protection to punters?  If the latter then poor service regarding refusal to payout or even late payouts will simply drive everyone to better regulated services.

In Europe, you should never use an online bookmaker that isnt from Malta or Gibraltar.  As for the rest of the world, its a bit of a free-for-all, bookies can cut customers off at any point or change/refuse payouts.

Sure theres a lot of places where punters dont have a choice, you'll pick them up easily enough but you'll also have the option of shutting down the day one of them deposits 1000BTC into your accounts.

The reason I ask the above is theres no info on the site that I can see regarding where yours based.  You can't value an unlicensed bookmakers at anything like the value you have even if you were making 5 times the profit.

Everything I've tried with coinminingpools.net has turned to rubbish lol.

I'm scrapping it

I think I'll just make it a free for all as I'm in no position to rate pools myself.

Throw some wordpress up, let the people do all the reviews and ratings for the various offers.

As for affiliate/sponsorship, I'll see what happens in time.
11  Economy / Services / Re: CoinSport TF2 - Battle for Bitcoins on: January 06, 2014, 11:29:42 AM
Couldn't people just do this between themselves already?

It's a great idea though.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining pool comparison on: January 06, 2014, 12:31:39 AM
I'm not invested in this idea emotionally at all btw, if somebody else wants to do it I'm more than willing to help or sit by and consume rather than help produce.

As I say I know I'm not the man for the job.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining pool comparison on: January 05, 2014, 11:52:09 PM
The whole things a no-go without affiliate money to either hardware or the pools themselves.

Experienced help welcome Thom, it was only when I was looking for a no BS comparison of whats out there and what would work best for me as a beginner that I decided a directory was required.

Web development isn't my biggest issue, its the guts of how to rate the pools themselves.  Pool-offs and that sort of thing are beyond me, I can put the platform together and give people the space to rip each other apart, post articles, strategies, reviews, plugs and give pool owners the opportunity to promote themselves.

I'll struggle to add much in the way of meaningful content given I've only been interested in the issue for about 12 hours.

I thought that but hey what else could you call a coin mining pools site BTC
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining pool comparison on: January 05, 2014, 08:42:13 PM
I think communal involvement is important but ratings from users can be a nightmare when you've pool owners putting down the competition, time will tell.  Im not sure Im experienced enough for the job but I've help available.

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining pool comparison on: January 05, 2014, 03:47:17 PM
Guess not then, I'll work on it this week.

Could be a decent affiliate opportunity.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / mining pool comparison on: January 05, 2014, 09:42:27 AM
Im planning to make a comparison site for crypto currency mining pools, aiming at doing it from a newb perspective.

Ive bought coinminingpools.net, just curious as to potential interest, would there be any?

If somebody thinks they can do a better job of it than me I'll sell the domain, would rather not sell to an existing pool who will just rate themselves as the best and the rest as scams lol
