Cryptoine got hacked. Great...

Sorry for keeping you waiting.

The answer is simple: we are missing staking wallets. Now, that has nothing to do with you guys (we don't want to make you keep wallet running).
The issue is that our two main wallets are offline currently. Mine because I was so "smart" and let my internet to be cut off because I didn't pay it on time, and the other one is down because system where the wallet was running had to be changed and we forgot to run it afterwards. Also, we changed the server where our hosted node was running and I'm not sure that wallets caught up with that change.

You can ask Cryptoine to give you nodes from their wallet until our wallets are running again when we will post nodes. Hopefully, everything will get back to normal by tomorrow.
Regarding if MACD is dead. No, this is just a hiccup caused by an unfortunate (and stupid) chain of events. We invested to much time, energy and money on MACDCoin so we are most certainly not letting it go.

As my colleague already said - it is good to hear that. We aren't going anywhere either and development is not compromised in any way ('though it is kind off slow).
We are silent but we are watching this thread so if there are any questions we will reply fast. There isn't much activity going on here anyway so we focused on development.

I apologise for not releasing wallet updates yet but this time we wan't all three platforms (linux, window and mac os) to be available for download at the same time. The blocker is windows version in which for some reason wallet app is not sending http requests and when we fix that we will release the update. Other than that, wallets are done and beside most of the bugs fixed (especially GUI bugs) and market data relinked there is a complete new feature implemented at that is block explorer inside the wallet app.

In other news - we were contacted by the Coins-e exchange and they said they are removing voting from the exchange but they want to add MACDCoin to their exchange. They needed some info about the coin that we provided so I guess they were working on MACDCoin addition. However, that was about 3 weeks ago and since then there were no more contacts and MACDCoin is not added yet. I don't know what will come out of it at the end.

No. 5000 MACDCoin is 0.1% of TOTAL ammount of MACDCoins at the moment (and the number IS NOT getting bigger fast). I won't even explain on how many levels what you are saying is wrong (biggest mistake is involving fiat money in the story), I will just say that if we followed that logic there would not be MACDCoin a long time ago... The bounty is as is (it's actually to big) and anybody is free to take it or not. No room for philosophy there.

I admit that bounties are a bit confusing and that is our mistake. We will edit the post so it will be clear. Anyway, since we don't actually need translations for website and wallet on languages other than Chinese and Russian, but threads on native language are a good thing, we will have bounty for thread translations which will be payed 1000 MACDCoins. We will make an exception with user AFarpa and we will pay him full bounty of 5000 MACDCoins because it is not his fault bounties were not explained good enough.

Now to answer your first question:
MACDCoin is not special at all. It was just the coin where I said enough with the assholish devs and decided to get into crypto development with MACDCoin instead of creating my own coin. That is why MACDCoin.
Also, MACDCoin because: How many coins are out there that are older than 6 months with working network, 0 premine, 0 forks, 0 hard forks, 0 problems and with working windows and linux wallets, working block explorer and website and services being developed? Also, the name of the coin is MACD which we like and it has a logo which was community work and we liked it.

Don't want to bother you with MACDCoin history (you can check on this thread) but there were many changes with MACDCoin but we still didn't create new thread for it and updated the changes (they are all listed in the thread posts though).

You can also find working block explorer there (we only need to update it to sync automatically which we are working on already and will be finished today or tomorrow (we just released the explorer)).

By my experience, Cryptsy is the hardest exchange to get listed on.

We didn't contact them, I don't remember if old developers did. Anyone is free to contact them if you think we can get listed on cryptsy. We will not contact them yet, it would be a good idea for MACDCoin to be listed on smaller exchanges first and then try with Cryptsy.

MACDCoin is next in the line for listing on cryptoine.com and it will probably be listed on askcoin.net relatively soon (in a month or so).
Also, now that we have a working explorer we will try and get it listed on allcoin.com.

If we manage to have MACDCoin on those three exchanges in next several weeks, I think that is a good start.

A little birdie told me there is a working MACDCoin explorer somewhere on macdco.in

Short info:
Twitter feed added to the website
windows wallet added for download (GUI is still a bit messed up) but we are working on it.

We tested the explorer yesterday for the first time. Expect it live very soon

One other thing. When you log in using twitter account on AskCoin.net you can vote every two minutes (the two of us voted over 200 times in the time span of two days) so we can get on that exchange pretty soon if there are more voters. Now, that is not the goal, we will be aiming at bigger exchanges, but, that will happen only when we have everything needed for those exchanges (there is only block explorer left to be done for that). Until that, we have to get to any exchange as fast as possible because all of the new features in wallet are dependent on coin being on exchange (price and market data) and also, for the coin to be used for paying stuff (this is also on hold, but as I said way back we do have one service that MACDCoin will be on) people actually need a place where they can get MACDCoins...
And yet another thing that won't be possible without MACDCoin being on exchange is multipool. So, if you like this coin, please, everybody, VOTE, that is one thing everybody can help with

Here's some info about what's going on with MACDCoin.

Our web developer and server admin is on a business trip to France (and that was the technical issue that resulted with postponing website launch since he was leaving for France on that day, unexpectedly).

We are still working on windows and mac os x wallet versions and we are very close to finishing them (mac os x version is compiled, but we are having problems with one of the dependency libraries probably due to a fact that we are compiling it on hackintosh instead off compiling it on a native mac os x machine. I suspect it's a bug with operating system).

Windows version is a real pain in the ass (excuse me for dirty words), and there is nothing we haven't tried (several PCs, several different versions of windows, compiling on linux using Gitian) and none have worked. But, last night we actually got to the very last step (creating exe file) when we got yet another error. It is quite possible that we will have windows version ready today.

I don't want to get too technical but most problems were caused by strange decisions of the original MACDCoin developer, so we are basically rebuilding everything (cleaning up) with different dependency versions and Qt version.

I am really hoping that this will be over soon so we can actually turn to building the coin ecosystem (exchanges, services, iOS applications...). This has already taken waaaay more time than i ever suspected...
We could ask for help with building the wallets but the problem is that simply - we don't trust anyone, so we will definitely finish this work alone.

We have so many plans, but so little time and so little luck.

For few of you that are still following this coin, we thank you for your support and I hope we will soon have a bit bigger community.

One other thing: as you can see, we are a bit silent and are not announcing anything nor are we spreading the word about website because we want to have everything up and running before we start expanding the community.

Different wallet versions, mobile devices, web applications, social networks, that is huge amount of work and all done by three guys that all have "real life" full time jobs, so please forgive us for things moving so slow.

If anyone has any ideas how they could help, please tell us, we would greatly appreciate any help.

P.S. did anyone tried linux version of the wallet from website?
