1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Pool/Solo with Quotas Help (BFGMINER) on: January 17, 2014, 04:37:40 PM
Thanks, think it might be working now, but not sure how to tell if it is doing the solo mining correctly.  I set it to url 1 for solo and quota 9 for slush's.  Right now it is doing the slush part fine, going to let it catch up and see what the hashrate is hopefully its 10% less and that is going to the solo pool.  Also whats the difference in Balance and Load Balance? Also yes using the most current version as of two days ago.

- Fuglie

Balance will treat all pools with equal priority so in your case it'll split the hash rate 50/50.  Load balance is where it takes into account quotas which is what I believe you would want anyway.
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Pool/Solo with Quotas Help (BFGMINER) on: January 16, 2014, 07:32:13 PM
Hey guys and girls,

Trying to do a little solo mining on the side.  I have it set up and is running but it is either a) not working correctly or b) I dont fully understand load balance.

I am trying to get it where it does 90% of the work for the pool and 10% for solo mining.  However I only get about 1/3 or the hash rate on the pool as I used to and not the 90% I would like. Here is the code, without the load balance command because not sure where to put it so I do that manually:

Code:
{

"pools" : [
        {
                "quota" : "10;192.168.2.9:8332",
                "user" : "blah",
                "pass" : "blah",
"coinbase-addr" : "1DhHifvuR232342142424SsKJoQUqeC7Z5dc",
"coinbase-sig" : "Fuglie's solo lotto 10%"
        },
        {
                "quota" : "90;stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333",
                "user" : "blah",
                "pass" : "blah"
        }

]
,

"scan" : "all"

}

Is it not working correctly or is load balance not working how I think it should (sharing the max available hash rate between the pool/solo)?
Thanks!

- Fuglie

Yes selecting 'load balance' should balance out your hashing power appropriately.

It should work but if not replace the solo quota to '1' and your other main pool to '9' and see if that helps.  Or just replace the 'quota' part of your solo pool with "url" as it would normally be.  Actually in hindsight that may be how to fix it since I use a 1:4 ratio with my BFGMiner config and it also has the pool with the '1' quota as just "url".  Also are you using the latest BFGMiner build (3.10.0)?

Has anybody gotten BFG 3.10 working with antminer in Win 7 64bit....mine gets stuck at "started bfminer 3.10.0" and nothing else.
I tried removing Zadig and reinstalling the driver thru windows without changing with Zadig and still it does not work. I am running the command line shown in these thread.

bfgminer  -o stratum+tcp://us1.ghash.io:3333 -u XXXX -p XXX -S antminer:all --set-device antiminer:clock=x0981

the antminer is working with cgminer but cant get it to work with bfg. Thanks

How long do you give it?  Try giving it a minute or two to load.  Are you running it in a command prompt or a shortcut/.bat file?  If it's the latter try using the command prompt directly since the window closes if the shortcut or .bat file runs into an error.  Using a command prompt lets you see what the error message is.

You could try to start BFG Miner with just the '--set-device antiminer:clock=x0981' command and see if that works or with no commands at all.

Also make sure the pool details are correct as it will auto close the window if it is not.

I have given a few minutes and stays there nothing other than "started bfminer 3.10.0"..If I run just --set-device antiminer:clock=x0981
then runs but does not recognize the Antminer.  If I run just -S antminer:all --set-device antiminer:clock=x0981  then it hangs as before when I had the pool info...I am running from command prompt not batch file. Are you able to run the new 3.10.0 on Win 7 64? Thanks

I'm using Windows 8 64-bit so I don't think I can directly compare our setup.  Try running it in Admin mode and see.

Also try using the command prompt if you aren't already - see if that will give you an idea as to why it's not loading properly.  I assume that the test builds for 3.09.00 that are listed in the Antminer U1 Tips and Tricks thread works fine?

So.....with my puny 12 Gh/s rig I might as well forget P2Pool right?  Expect share is somewhere around 4 days right now and payout per block is BTC0.00143.  So that's something like BTC0.00143 every 4 days?  Am I reading this right?

idk if u noticed but ur running them at 0881 for 1.8 ghs when u should be running them at 0981 for 2.0 ghs just a tip Cheesy

Yes I know don't worry. Smiley  I may try 0981 again on v3 soon but using v2 at 0981 I got loads of HW errors so I'd like to avoid them for now.  Also I don't have any active cooling so I wouldn't want to run the U1's too hot right now.

ive been running in v3 for 8 hours at 0981 no HW errors what so ever Smiley
getting 5 more antminers today ill post a update on them later Cheesy if u want my command line here it is
Code:
bfgminer.exe -S erupter:all -S antminer:all -S all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981 --icarus-options 115200:2:2 --icarus-timing 2.5=90 --klondike-options 362:65 --weighed-stats
that whole switching timing of the icarus is just to make it run steadier i found that out couple days ago

https://i.imgur.com/VoyQG8R.jpg

Thanks for the extra commands.  I'm trying those now on v3 but I think 1.8 Gh/s per U1 is the max my hub can take right now - we'll see in a few hours time.  I am running 3 BE's on the same hub so that could be affecting the overall hash rate.

Regarding HW errors, you're right, v3 is far more stable even at 0981 - gotten 1 HW error on one U1 so far.  Very happy still with the results. Smiley

8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Multiple Antminer U1 using cgminer on: January 15, 2014, 12:05:33 PM
Better to use the modded version of BFG Miner here for U1's: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c7movpxohewides/bfgminer-npw-antminerV3.7z

I run four right now with the regular CP2102 drivers listed in the U1 manual which means you don't need to overwrite the drivers and plug in each U1 everytime you start up.

Far simpler imo.  Give it a try.  Just uninstall the U1's on your device manager and replug the U1's to install the regular drivers.  After that run BFG Miner with the command '--set-device antiminer:clock=xHEX' where 'HEX' would be the speed you wish to set.  The default is 0781 but if you look in the manual it goes quite high.  I'm running mine at 0881 with no problems.

Hope this helps.

Well v3 doesn't do much better than v2 for me.  Same as you I can't OC the U1's even with the new '--set-device antminer:clock=x0981' command.  BFG Miner returns an ' unknown option' and cycles through different frequencies before defaulting to 0781.

Are you guys using a .bat file or a regular shortcut?

regular .bat for me.    Saved as a desktop shortcut.

Ok after letting v3 run for a bit longer I'm getting no more HW errors compared to oc'ing with v2 which is a relief!  Below is my four U1's running at 0881, the rate is slightly off but I'm happy with it now. Smiley

The overclocking in V3 fails for me.

V2 was the best

Make sure you are using the correct format. Overclocking should work fine (and more reliably than the version you guys are referencing).

Code:
bfgminer --set-device antiminer:clock=xHEX

I would assume you are still trying to use --set-device antminer:freq instead.
Hi nwoolls

Tried with :clock=0981   and  :freq= 0981

I get the same result    2.05Gh at 5sec  and  1.97Gh at the pool with HW 2%

when I use clock=  there is an error message but everything still works

When I try the V3 files  I still get 2.05Gh at 5sec  but my pool speed drops to 1.5Gh with HW 2% the extra 0.5Gh just vanishes.

My erupters are on a separate session so the V2 files are reasonable for me.

bro its like this :clock=x0981 with an x infront idk if u messed that up or not but seems to be working fine for me as long as they say its the 3rd one that counts thats all i really need to hear lol

Its the 3rd number that pays.

If I use a higher clock speed It just creates more HW errors. After that you need to start changing resistors.

Well v3 doesn't do much better than v2 for me.  Same as you I can't OC the U1's even with the new '--set-device antminer:clock=x0981' command.  BFG Miner returns an ' unknown option' and cycles through different frequencies before defaulting to 0781.

does anyone else get a problem with their ant miner u1 i get 0.5/0.7/2.0 gh/s out of my ant miner with bfg with cgminer 3.8.5 i get a steady 1.9 - 2.3 gh/s and i have the pool confirm that it seems like ant miners aren't working properly  because if i use cgminer 3.100 (newest version) i get the same 700 or 800 mhs so it might be a problem with bfgminer and how it takes the miner if anyone has gotten it to work with BE's in same hub and same program (not 2 instances) with bfgminer then please pm me also i am using the bfgmienr-ant program please and thank you Cheesy

You're not the only one, I too and getting slower speeds with BFG Miner.  I've made some improvement but it's a hassle to do everytime.  Check out my post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=390929.msg4503625#msg4503625

The version 2 of BFGminer (files dated 9th Jan) seems to be the best
version 3 from the 11th? does not overclock properly.

I didn't know there was a version 3.  I'm currently on version 2 of the BFG Miner that supports Antminer.  Do you have a link to the version 3 because I must have missed that one?

Btw, currently at 13~11% HW right now when clocked to 0881 with BFG Miner.  I think I need to move then U1's further apart on the hub.

Update:

I'm starting to think my '--set-device antminer:freq=0981' command in BFG Miner isn't working properly.  Before I was looking at an average hash rate of 5.5 Gh/s with that setting with BFG Miner.

After trying the CG Miner provided by BitMain I reverted the drivers back to the regular ones to use the U1's with BFG Miner.  After using the same .bat file with the above freq command I'm now getting more HW errors but a faster speed similar to what I would expect the U1's to do at 2 Gh/s.

My procedure was to uninstall the WinUSB drivers after using the U1's with CG Miner and 'rescan for hardware changes' in the device manager without unplugging and replugging the U1's again.

After that I ran my BFG Miner bat file.  If I'm right, setting the freq using CG Miner and the WinUSB drivers would properly set the overclock on the U1's but the BFG Miner command doesn't seem to work - for me at least.

A bit more testing is needed but at least I'm getting somewhere.
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain AntMiner U1 Tips & Tricks on: January 14, 2014, 10:23:16 AM

Where did you get your resistors (what part #s?) and how did you adjust the frequency once cgminer was running?

Thanks

"....hash rate at only 1.5 Gh/s."

No, it is not he pool side, your miner  gets not enough power.

I'm not sure if it's the power as I've tested the hub with only one U1 and I get the same hash rate at 0981 using BFG Miner.

To compare I reverted back to the CG Miner recommended by BitMain for the U1 and after all the plugging in one U1 at a time it's sitting steady at 2Gh/s each.  I can confirm this by the reported hash rate that the pool tells me.

For some reason BFG Miner doesn't allow the U1's to go above 1.6 Gh/s for me, often less than that.  But since I'm using the same BFG Miner version as everyone else here and CG Miner does set the hash rate of the U1's properly I'm unsure what to think.
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain AntMiner U1 Tips & Tricks on: January 13, 2014, 07:16:54 PM
Got new USB 3 powered hub and I think the U1's are running ok now at 0981 (2 Gh/s) but BFG Miner lists the 'effective' hash rate at only 1.5 Gh/s.

Is this something I can adjust or is it simply a pool issue?  I've got hardly any hardware errors on all four units (2 have only 1 HW error).

Any ideas?

I have 4 U1's but I consistently have problems getting them to hash even at a consistent 1.6 Gh/s.  I've tried OC'ing but the hash rate just drops to around 1 Gh/s or below.  Do I need to cool them or just a better hub?  I've got one attached to my laptop's USB port and 3 on a Belkin 7 port, powered hub.

I'm using the newer BFG Miner posted on this thread.

Any help is appreciated.
some dude in this thread had  a similar prob , think he was using the old bfg tho , he couldnt get the cgminer to work the first time, but ended up getting it to work and problem solve for him.

I've tried to find a newer version of the BFG Miner that supports the U1's but everyone I've tried has a compile date of the 9th leading me to believe there's only one version currently out?

I've restart my U1's a few times, trying different port configurations on my laptop and I've managed to get them stable for 2.5 hours.  Unfortunately the speeds aren't what they really should be - even when overclocked to 2 Gh/s.  I'm hoping this is just a power issue, I have a TechNet 10-port hub on it's way with a 48W rated PSU so when that arrives I expect the U1's to perform as they should.

This image is with the '--set-device antminer:freq=0981' command which just highlights what the problem is.

Oh and before I forget, I was having BFG Miner 'load balance' between 3 separate pools but it seems to have stabilized with the 'balance' option between two instead.  Not sure if this is down to the power, BFG Miner or a mixture of the two but I've yet to test them using only one pool since I'm afraid that whatever luck has gotten the U1's to hash near their rated speed may run out and I may not get these speeds again until my new hub arrives.
