1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | PoS | Multipool | Coinkite Launch June 1st! on: June 04, 2014, 11:16:17 AM
I know he has done some decent things but no way do I want him associated with bc again. Not after the way he left (still holding our donations btw) and the subsequent demolishing of xlb not a week after joining and declaring himself the main dev. He's like the Charlie Sheen of crypto. His reputation is tarnished and we would lose a lot of credibility by welcoming him back.

And to not get back on the iconic train too much, what are everyone's thoughts on this http://www.coindesk.com/netherlands-issues-bitcoin-warning-banks-financial-institutions/

Nout Wellink, our former president of DNB (he was replaced in 2011 already) was a typically oldskool banker with an obvious aversion against any type of new technology. The guy is also 73 years old, so he should keep his mouth shut about digital currency.

The new president is clearly not only younger, but is more openminded and is thinking outside of the box anno 2014. His vision about todays economy is a lot more realistic, so I'm not surprised he's keeping the door open to digital currency. That doesn't relief him of his duty to warn banks about investing or working with BTC. It surely is a high risk product when values can rise or lower +10% within a day.

...
Wrong prediction, 24K => to da moon...
just put the fraggle on ignore or at least do not quote his bullshit. He spawned here a few days ago and does not do anything else but predict falling prices.

Ah no worries, Ill buy it back up to 26. Got some BTC ready to expand my holdings, as I'm still convinced BC has the most mature community/devvers around it. Loads and loads of shitcoins have only one c/p devver behind it trying to make itself rich within a few days. After that, it's the investors who get burned every time.

Anyway, pissed my pants on that "fraggle" quote Cheesy

lol @ ponzischeme: http://blackponzi.com/

I just deposited 5k and got 5600 returned (5x 1k). No idea how it's exactly working, but apparently it is working. The jackpot is getting quickly larger too... weird stuff.

I have to say, although Im deeply invested in BC.... The blackcoinpool doesnt seem pretty well maintained. Profitability stats are not updated since May 14th, X11 hashrate is not realtime updated nor workers are being seen as online and profitability overall is not being advertised on http://poolpicker.eu/text.php. Profits for the days I was mining at the BC pool are 30% lower then other scrypt or x11 multipools.

Without any maintenance, I don't expect hashrates will be going up (more down) which should be one of the main reasons why BC is able to keep current marketprice levels.

Is the pool not important anymore?

And it's gone. Stop monitoring the order books constantly, it's gonna make you crazy (seriously, think about yourself).

brammien, we only control our own funds. We cannot possibly exert control over millions of dollars. It is a decentralized currency. we are an investment group. We control our funds which we are currently using to help everyone as much as possible. You have caused us to rethink the use of the term foundation because it is clearly causing a lot of issues. We are an investment group. That is all. I think some people have been led astray as to what we can and cannot do.

Okay, so if you are an investment group, then will the investment group be tweeting, facebook, social media under the official blackcoin, or under another name? If your just an investment group, then that's fine, but should not be overlapping of the official pages, with investment groups pages. Like we as investment group support or don't support something is okay, but we as blackcoin foundation don't is then shown as official.

I'm okay personally with investment group, but not under official title representing the coin. If this group does well and helps coin, great. If not, then it's only investment group and not under tile of anything else. I just believe there should not be conflicting interest. I'd hope Soekip is NOT part of this group, since he's now representing the coin as figurehead. That would be huge conflict of interest.

Hum...why is an investment group seeking donations from the community?

You're an investor. Why are you seeking donations from the community?

An investment group is a group of investors. It's what you are, only in plural.

I imagine in this case, the investment group came up with an idea that required funding. They figured they could bear half of the cost themselves and then went to the community to seek donations from those who agree that the idea is worth investing in.

I thought you said you would start fresh this week and stop with the attacks?

That wasn't an attack at all, and if it appeared that way I sincerely apologize.

As for me... yes I am an investor but I am not asking the community to invest in something similar to a "hedge fund". I am asking the community to donate to projects that are community based. I have no problems letting someone else from my area help with any project I am a part of.

Iconic I don't understand why you personally have to try to misdirect and twist every single thing some one says. You know it's not a hedge fund, it's a group of people seeking to promote the coin. This should make you happy, but the fact that you are stomping your feet and making a fuss is clear you have only self interests in mind. We had never once ever said anything bad about your campaigns, or your goblack website. But you are just on here full of venom spite, and a disturbing obsession with convoluting the message and taking control of it. People who act like that in my eyes do not act in the interest of the coin, and it should raise warning flags for any body who is so obsessed with destroying the efforts of others, completely unprovoked.

Please read my previous post. I can understand your frustration, and if my use of "Hedge Fund" in some way offended you I am sorry. That was not my intention at all. I used "Hedge Fund" because a group of people pool their money together for an investment or investments. In this case it is to promote BlackCoin. So in essence it is similar to a hedge fund because part of promoting BC increase the value of everyone's portfolio, including mine.

Like! Some love in the air.

We all make mistakes. I did it @ work today and I know it's gonna bite me in the ass coming days. We all do something wrong some day in our lives. Learn from it and try to do a better job next time. There is no "good" or "wrong", people make decisions based on their own calculations about the information they have at that time.

What I'm trying to say: we all should look in the mirror some day and don't be scared to agree we've made a wrong accusation for whatever reason. No problem, shit happens! Lets move on, learn from it and make this a better world.

We don't suffer from cancer (as far as I know) or some other nasty disease, but we all only try to make BlackCoin the better coin out of all the scams out there. We all have the same interests in the end, so try to live with eachother Smiley
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: May 02, 2014, 06:30:30 PM
Holy shit, I really like some of your idea's IE! Very outside the box, very ambitious and very innovative. This gives me the feeling BC has a nice future to come. I don't own a lot of BC (just a small chunk), so I won't make a lot of money when BC really rises. I don't care either, because the crypto as a whole sounds like a great initiative to bring something new to an old fashioned (monetary) system.

Thinking outside of the box and having huge ambitions is why people are making money in the first place.

BlackCoin Community Plan

As promised I came up with a basic plan that we all can build upon over time. I think as a community need to be on the same page to achieve our common goal to make BlackCoin  #1.
Before starting I was going to put this into a PDF and I decided to post it here so everyone can add whatever suggestions and comments to the plan. This is very long so please take a few minutes to read it.

Introduction:
Over the past few weeks this community has accomplished some amazing things in the name of BlackCoin, but lately we have lost focus on our main goal of making BlackCoin #1. Some of us have been conducting ourselves like juveniles on this forum, including myself. The first thing that needs to change around here is our decorum. We cannot continue to act the way we have been acting. There are some very talented and intelligent individuals here , and we do not have to attack each other to get our point across. We can have intense debates and still be respectful of each other. If and when trolls do enter our thread, we have to adopt a no tolerance policy. Do not quote them and kindly ask them to refrain from posting FUD. Do not aggressively engage or argue with them. This thread is key to attracting new talent and investors, and it needs to remain open but it also needs to remain fairly professional.

Mission:
Everyone keeps making the mistake of suggesting we can be the next Bitcoin. I do not want to be the next Bitcoin. In the eyes of the world Bitcoin doesn't exist. Yes we know about Bitcoin, and maybe 1 or 2 million people know about Bitcoin. However, if you ask 20 random people on the street if they know what Bitcoin is, I am willing to bet at least 19 of them would not have a clue what Bitcoin is. So although Bitcoin was the first, there is a very good opportunity to become the standard crypto-currency everyone knows and uses. There have been many examples in recent history when the first product to market is overshadowed by the newcomer because the newcomer had better marketing and branding.

Our mission is to strive to be the most recognized and used crypto-currency in the world.

Structure:
This is a hard one. BlackCoin is not a corporation and it will never be a corporation. It is a community funded project with many moving parts. However, it seems to have turned into a central organization with a community that has limited say. There are major issues with this approach but I will not address that now. Moving forward I propose we decentralize BlackCoin and turn it back into a community controlled project.

1. The development team focuses on development and the technical aspect of BlackCoin

2. The BlackCoin foundation focuses on supporting projects and whatever else they feel passionate about.

3. The community focuses on building the brand and handling the business side of BlackCoin. No one person or small group should decide the fate of BlackCoin.

I own the domain GoBlackCoin.com and we can turn that into a community hub for discussions, new ideas, projects, events,  and everything else related to BlackCoin. We can have tutorials, market info,...etc..etc. Senior members of the BlackCoin community can be admins and mods. it will be a complete social network for the BlackCoin community. I can have that up and running by mid June.

Technology:
The current BlackCoin client is based off the original Bitcoin client. We should begin to move forward with a more unique design that is tailored more for BlackCoin. Every wallet client is pretty much a carbon copy of the previous client with little differences here and there. It is hard to portray unique and innovative when the software for the wallet is similar in design to every other wallet.

Using BlackCoin at retail locations will be made easier using CoinKite, but I must admit I think cypto is going backwards with this approach. Using cards and terminals to make purchases is 20th century technology, and I have no idea why the currency of the future needs to use redesigned 20th century technology. Google has it right with their technology using an ordinary smart phone to make purchases.

We need to make it easier and cost effective for any merchant to accept BlackCoins without the hassle of extra terminals and cards. There are tons of locations that already support Google's technology, and maybe we need to tie into that network somehow.

Marketing & Brand Awareness:
We have already  proven that press releases have a positive effect on getting investors excited and garnering the attention of the crypto-community. But there is so much more we can be doing
a) Social media should be a top priority. We have members who have graciously offered to Tweet regularly and upload photos to Instagram. We must utilize every aspect of social media.

b) Events will be crucial to building brand awareness. The Wall Street event is just one example of how we need to be creative and think out the box. We need to sponsor small concerts, raise money for charities,  and sponsor high profile non-crypto related events

c) Traditional print ads in magazines is an option we will need to explore. Bitcoin placed an ad in Wired Magazine. That was a good idea but I would have opted for one of the financial magazines first. We need to go where the money is, and financial magazines is where we need to be.

d) Times Square billboard! Yes we need to go big! At this time it is not feasible to buy a billboard in Times Square, but as the marketcap of BlackCoin increases we can have a BlackCoin billboard in the middle of Times Square.

e) Radio is also an option we need to pursue. Radio is not expensive at all and can be effective with the right ad and audience.

f) Celebrity endorsements. A-list celebrities are expensive, but there are very popular celebrities that are not exactly A-list but have a huge following. Their fees are significantly less than an A-list celebrity but can be just as effective at making BlackCoin popular.

g) Sponsor poker tournaments and have the players paid in BlackCoin.

Infrastructure & Partnerships:
We have been very lucky to have been added to some of the top exchanges and services in such a short span of time. I think as a community we have been very effective in this area and we just need to keep contacting services and keep requesting they add us.

Coinbase is a Bitcoin only service but I think they are rethinking their position on that. If we can show how powerful and innovate BlackCoin is, maybe in the future we can convince them to add us.
Every time I send BTC to an exchange it takes a lifetime to  confirm. However, when you compare that to BlackCoin it seems almost instant. This is a major advantage and we need Bitcoin only services to understand Bitcoin is yesterdays technology.

Recruitment:
We need the most talented people onboard to help with this project. Talented and knowledgeable people are priceless, and we need to establish an environment that welcomes and nurtures talented people.
BlackCoin will succeed or fail based on the efforts of the community. Without a passionate and active community BlackCoin will slowly die like many coins before it.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 21, 2014, 05:05:32 PM
PoS please.

Is it possible to reduce the maximum number of coins? The initial total supply (100 trillion) PnD is just way to much. That's one reason why the price suddenly plummeted and has almost no chance of a comeback.

Someone wants the price to fall so they can get cheaper coins before the PoS phase lol.

Yep, you could be right. People could also getting out of this coin because there's no further development and no future perspective. Or maybe it's just because of the multipools dumping OR the dev getting rid of his coins.

Pick one what suits you best. We could all be right Smiley

LOL to everyone selling right now, you're going to hate yourselves in a month from now LOLOLOLOL, don't seppuku

I don't think so Smiley BC is doing very active marketing, has a consistent volume and buypressure because of the blackcoinpool. WC is just a copycat with a crappy website and a 3 days inactive official twitter. I'm not a real fan of trolling (I never did at bitcointalk) but I really hate to see people loosing a lot of money again all in favor to make another wannabe devver rich.

Maybe it's not "everyone" selling, but the dev with his 3 million premine?
I dont see who is he rich with 3 milion at this prices..that is monthy salary of some good programer

Hm, 25k USD seems a little more then a month salary right? Especially taken into account that BTC is pretty low compared to the december peak. It could be worth double or even more later this year (or next year, or with bad luck.... half of it).

Like I said, his twitter is already inactive and there's no development into the website. I'm sure some people would be making a profit @ WC, eventhough it's probably a scam. But that money comes from people that do believe in honesty. It's even such a bad copy, that you cannot run a BC and WC wallet at the same time on your PC which is known for almost a week now. But still, there's no fix or update on it.

It makes me sad to see people losing a lot of money over nothing...

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FACTS about Multipools and why you shouldn't mine on them on: March 27, 2014, 04:56:48 PM
I disagree that multipools are scamming their users, but what I do know is when every miner joins a multipool, mining will be dead.

The whole point of mining profitable is when other users (so called "investors") are buying coins so their value will rise because of the buy orders. Individual miners can decide to hold and sell at a later point, while multipools sell off their coins immediately for BTC. No coin, not BTC/LTC or any other coin can survive daily selloffs without enough investors. SPA included, also AUR, BC or other coins.

So whenever multipools get too big and keep flooding every coin they mine on #exchange, the value will definately never rise and it is only waiting until that specific coin heads on to 1 satoshi.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FACTS about Multipools and why you shouldn't mine on them on: March 27, 2014, 12:27:18 PM
Solution: Quit making SHITCOINS and the Multipools will vanish.

As long as there are shitcoins to rape and pillage, the Multipools will continue to do so.

Here here.  It's time to cull the herd.  I say multi-pools team up to crush all the crap coins.  Consolidate crypto a bit, will help level things out across the market.   Let the strong survive.  If your coin has a decent following and the hash behind it, it will weather the storm.  All the other ScamyMcCryptocoins deserve to go away tho.

True, time to crush Litecoin! Another shitcoin actually. Total hashrate is +/- 170 GH/s, but Wafflepool/Clevermining and Middlecoin combined had last week 70 GH/s, or 40% of the LTC total hashrate.

Multipools in general are not the problem, but their huge hashrate is.

If this coin ever gets revived (which I don't believe), we'll be offloading our (huge?) bags probably as fast as we can, causing a second death of this coin. Ain't gonna happen Cheesy
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FACTS about Multipools and why you shouldn't mine on them on: March 24, 2014, 11:38:58 AM
Although I agree on your conclusion, the same problem will rise with ASIC's for Scrypt and GPU farms. Miners will be able to crush a coin singlehanded with KNC's ASIC. Not only do multipools destroy the whole concept, ASIC's and large farms are causing the same problems.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 23, 2014, 08:07:01 AM
F wafflepool under .005 for 2 days straight thats why people left including myself
F litecoin under 0.005 for last 3 days!

Yup, too many coins and too little liquidity in the market. That, and a lot of people are buying mining hardware instead of coins (and dump it as soon as they can). I don't see a reason why profitability would go up ever again actually. Not until the average John Doe gets into crypto's, and that I don't see happen with so many shitcoins out there. Not to mention the broken trust due to Mt Gox failures.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast | ASIC resistant | Multipool resistant | no-premine on: March 17, 2014, 12:02:40 PM
All dumper are crazy

As soon as the mining dumpers that have to pay for electricity are out of the system the investors can take over. A high network mining hash rate is not important because you can have the same block rate with 1 CPU at low difficulty vs a gazillion quintillion terra has rate at super high difficulty. What is important is to gave the coin in the hands of many investors.  There must be an average hash rate for mining but many exchanges with high volumes of trading for the coin so that there can be liquidity.  The highest risk of a new coin are many miners mining for profit because miners are the dumpers on small exchanges with low volumes causing the value of coins to be low.  Investors know how to work a market so that there is not high volatility and investors know better than to just dump. A new coin must just get through the first few weeks without being killed by profit mining dumpers and Bob's your uncle.
Being  killed by profit mining dumpers,Is EXE possible or not?

Perhaps these dumpers have no idea what is coming on inside next months. (Scrypt ASIC's )

Yeah EXE will rise as soon as ACIS takes over the scrypt mining and there is lots of hashing power left that only can be used to mine a few coins. Also there is almost no BTC trading and altcoins especially are dependent on BTC price.. As soon as BTC strarts to rise, witch it will soon after that MtGox story, altcoins will rise even more. That's my analyse.

As soon as the hashrate goes up, more dumpers will be playing with this coin. Why exactly would a higher hashrate automatically result in a higher price?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXE] Execoin - Fast | ASIC resistant | Multipool resistant | no-premine on: March 17, 2014, 12:00:20 PM

It only does when you use the onboard graphics (included in your processor). Just tested this yesterday. I have 3x 280x (Dual-X) running and 4GB memory is enough without getting any HW errors. As soon as I allocated memory to the onboard GPU (just to make it work), one of the GPU's stopped because of low mem.

So I'm guessing you need 4GB of RAM per 3 280x's.

And what settings do you use? Alot of people suggest 1000/1500 clock speeds. 8192 TC w256.  but my GPU1 always gets HW.  changing the TC more then 8191 or 8193 gives me huge amounts of HW, reductions in I kills the kh/s. really no idea what to do next

1000/1500, 8192 TC and w256. Exactly those settings give me +/- 360 KH/s. Sorry I can't help you any better Sad

I got rid of the HW errors after deleting all .bin files and use these 2 lines in the config:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
