1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Augur - a decentralized prediction market platform on: July 25, 2018, 08:40:40 PM
I have been very disappointed with Augur so far.  I am very much interested in prediction markets and saw so much potential in Augur. I've tried out most of the features and in total, I find it very desillusioning. Not only is the user experience rather weak, but also, they seem to make errors which you would not think such a well-funded team would make. The complexity to engage in markets, to observe and keep control over the own orders and positions is frustrating for anyone who is not an expert in trading. And the handling of the oracles will perspectively allow spammers to paralyze the whole system to scale.

I do not understand how a team which had a straightforward mission, which had lots of time and capital to develop come up with such weak results. Is it the complexity of such a product which I am  underestimating?

Maybe, but even if it is so, I am pretty sure that blockchain-based prediction markets will not be working as Augur in the future. I am interested to see what the other competitors will come up with or how new players with new approaches will try to enter the field of prediction markets. Any of them obviously has a second mover advantage.

Happy to hear your opinion on Augur.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook Campaign no more!! on: July 23, 2018, 03:19:11 PM
I do not think that Facebook is very valuable to marketing an ICO especially in the early stages. There are too many fake profiles and the audience is mainly uninterested in crypto. You hardly see classic financial institutions use facebook as a work marketing channel. The only thing I regular see on facebook is CFD-trading.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Who are most reliable advisors in ICO projects to trust on: July 22, 2018, 07:26:39 PM
I am very interested in investing in ICOs and read through numerous whitepapers. What I observed is that all of them have masses of advisors? What is usually the role of these advisors? How are they chosen? Do they get paid to be advisors? How do I find out how much experiences they have in crypto? And most important, who are the advisors one can trust?

A lot of questions, I will be glad for some help. Thx.

5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit 60,000$ by the end of 2018? on: July 22, 2018, 04:37:17 PM
I do not think that Bitcoin will even grow beyond 10,000 $ by the end of 2018 and that would be good.

To much short-term hype will endanger the long-term development. 2018 should be a year of consolidation where bitcoin and other altoins can prove that they are stable enough to maneuver through. This will create more trust and leads to wider adoption.

I believe only in 2019 / 2020 bitcoin will continue to grow significantly.

However, this is just my opinion and it is speculating on something which is nearly impossible to predict.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CoinAnalyst – Maximize your trading profits w/ News, Scam Detection & more on: July 21, 2018, 01:12:07 PM
I had a look at the facebookpage of https://www.facebook.com/CoinAnalyst.tech. What i found strange is that the fan-page has a little below 1.000 Fans, however one of the last posts about the being covered by a big german news paper "FAZ"  has 625 likes, 740 shares and 170 comments.

https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FCoinAnalyst.tech%2Fposts%2F243533023114195&width=500"

Reading through the comments i find three things to be very strange:
1. Although the article is in German there is not one German comment below.
2. The tenor of all comments is excessively positive. I work a lot with social media and this user interaction is not common on facebook, where negative users are usually more engaging and willing to comment than positive users.
3. I had a look at about 30 users, which commented below the facebook post. Nearly all of the them are at the friends-max level of 5000, but they have uploaded pictures and post even though they usually have no interaction on their post.

For me this looks very strange and dubious. Could anyone of the CoinAnalyst team or anyone else explain this to me. Are these real profiles? How come that the tenor of these comments is exclusively and excessively positve? Did CoinAnalyst pay somene to receive these interactions?

I would like to understand this better. Thanks for help.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the important steps for launching an ICO? on: June 15, 2018, 08:37:42 AM
I have got a blockchain-based project idea with an existing concept and a first prototype and I am considering whether or not an ICO is the right tool to finance that project and to bring it to the next level. What are important things to consider before launching an ICO? Are there any best practices? Thanks for your help.

Best practice is to ask for permission instead of forgiveness.  :/

Did you ignore the post that said this area is not for ICO?   You can move it via the control at lower left.  Smiley

Sorry and thank you for the hint. I moved the post to another area
