1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for partner to launch crypto magazine/news website. on: July 05, 2014, 05:28:11 PM
In what way would this magazine that you don't have time to run be different than http://bitcoinmagazine.com/?
Please don't spam if not interested. BTW I would have time to run the site , just not micro-manage on a day-to-day basis. More than enough time to give partner advice, guidance etc. As well as managing ads etc.

I am not spaming at all.  I am just curious as to why you would want to start a magazine that already exists.

Their are many crypto magazine/news sites ... You can't just say because X competitor exists you should not start one. That's like saying we have USD why start Bitcoin ? A currency already exists right ?

Ofcourse our magazine will have a USP that differentiates it from the bitcoinmagazine experience but I rather not say, especially to someone who seems to be a bit cynical to the idea.

Unless your interested in partnering , I won't be replying to your posts. This is the sort of discussion to have on launch if you are not satisfied with the magazine. Not when I'm searching for partners.

Bitcoinmagazine is not just a site, it is an actual publication that can be subscribed to, and received in the mail.  They actually produce printed issues.  It is slick, and rather well done.

I would think that anyone interested in "partnering" with you on this would want to know the answer to the questions I have asked.  I am in no way cynical at all.  I am certain that there are many people who have read, or will be reading your post, who will have the exact same questions.  If you can't answer these simple questions, then that is something the readers of your post will also want to know.

Also, this is your very first post here (at least under this ID).  Why should anyone even consider your proposal as something credible and worthwhile?

4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: June 29, 2014, 01:18:06 AM
Can anybody possibly offer me some guidance here please?

I sold 3 Antminer S1s on eBay, and when they left here they were working perfectly.  The 3 units are stacked, one on top of the other.

Photo of the units: http://www.cryptocointips.com/s1s.JPG

The person who received the units is telling me that one of the boards on the middle unit is not powering up.  Supposedly the top unit works fine, and the bottom unit works fine.  But only 1/2 of the middle unit is working.

This is pretty obviously a power problem, but I don't have a unit here to even look at to see if I can suggest something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have him hook up the one that's not working by itself to rule out the power as the cause.

This is part of what I suggested he try, as well as a couple other things.  Later he said he got it figured out, but he did not say what it was that got it working.

Thanks!

Swap the power supplies around, I have some that throw a strop but only in certain psu/board combinations.
Spent a few hours swapping psu around to find the best mix.
Some S1 boards draw a lot more power than others, for the same hashing rate.

Actually, I think that did it. Thanks. I suggested the buyer try this, and a couple hours later he told me that he got it figured out.  Not sure if he even tried this, but I did suggest it, and it is now working.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Btw: Funny how the discussion rolls on, while the guy who opened this thread seems to have disappeared....

He vanished right around the time everyone realized that not only were we owed the 200+ BTC that were held back, but also the 400+ BTC or more that he was paid for mining when he was not contributing.

I could not agree more.

Karma will get you sooner or later. Grin

The website screenshots suggest an interesting possibility.

In china, it's illegal to price goods and services in bitcoin as a unit of account.
It was not illegal back then. It's illegal now.

Our last Bitmain order was on 2-June-2014, so that's changed in the last 12 days?
I am not sure, but if memory serves me correctly I think Bitmain used to only price their products in BTC, but now the primary price is USD, with BTC in parentheses:
AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4
Price:      2226 USD ( 3.932 BTC )
May this be why?

Brucexie,

Here is the deciding factor as far as I am concerned.

When it was discovered that this problem existed with your software/hardware on BTCGuild did you return the BTC that you had been paid, but did not properly earn?

If not, then you are guilty because you have taken BTC that you have admitted to not earning. This is called stealing.

[Do the people in your mining group know that you were involved in this withholding attack?

This kind of statement is typically pejorative - and its not been just you.

Who knows for sure if this was an attack (as in the sense of it being willful)?

Block withholding due to a bug in mining code that has now been fixed is one thing, an intentional block withholding attack is another.

Brucexie does not appear to deny the former - the extant narrative/claims suggests that there was a cgminer bug in their kit which got fixed - the time line on this is still a little unclear and it would be helpful if this was clarified.

So far as I can tell there is no evidence (that any one has seen presented so far on this forum) to support that this was willful.

Surely one needs this evidence in order to assess it; otherwise one is guessing.

My understanding is that the only reason the issue was corrected was because it was brought to his attention after it had been going on for months.  With as large of an operation as it seems like he runs, if it was not intentional then he would have noticed it much sooner on his own.  This is not a court of law, and If it walks like a duck.....

Under Raize's advice I'll give a signature after get approved from my mining group.

Do the people in your mining group know that you were involved in this withholding attack?
16  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ==== Eligius, please pay my 200+ BTC ==== on: June 13, 2014, 08:09:57 PM

Yeah.  I was just kind of wondering how much trouble it could cause if hundreds of people internationally started contacting his government demanding action to investigate his bitcoin involvement and possible unethical activities.

In that case you will be put in jail instantly.
Smart lawyer works everytime.

My hunch is your government is just looking for reasons to shut down larger bitcoin mining operations.  I could be wrong though.

bruCEXie

Thank you for adding more interesting information.

my pleasure.

Brucexie, you spend a lot of time stating that what you are accused of cannot be proven, so clearly you know, and understand a lot about the issue.

However, not one time that I have seen have you stated that you are innocent.

When accused of a crime most people would start by saying they didn't do it.  It is the guilty who will start by claiming it can't be proven that they did it.

If there is evidence of your actions, and your government is notified, I wonder what actions, if any, they will take against you.  Are you innocent until proven guilty in your country?  How are the conditions at the jails in your country?

I'm innocent until proven guilty in your country.
Luckily, I have no need to prove that I'm innocent both under my government and bitcoin way, since it is a by-default. If someone wants to announce that I'm guilty, Hi must prove.
I just want someone to get my money back according to his public visible account page.
I don't like to announce something which I cannot prove, this is not a bitcoin way.

You still have not answered my one question. How are the conditions in the jails in your country?

In our country, bitcoin or hash power was treated as stuff with no value.

You still have not answered my one question. How are the conditions in the jails in your country?

Not good.

And how often do people in your country go to jail just because the get attention from the police, or the government authorities due to some negative incident, even though technically there is no proof they did anything wrong?

I don't know. But I do know their government REALLY hates bitcoin  Cheesy

Brucexie,

Do you own your mining operation, or are you running it for someone else?

If you own your mining operation then why are you so worried about 200BTC?  It is a very small amount of the total you have mined, and are able to mine.

If you are managing a mining operation for someone else, are they really pisssed off at you for getting caught?

Edited to add:

Something else just crossed my mind, and I just thought I'd put this out there.

The "You can't prove that I did it" defense seems to me like the exact thing someone would come up with while planning such a scheme.

#1 - I'm not going to get caught.

#2 - If I am caught they can't prove anything.

#3 - If they can't prove that I did it, then I will not get in trouble.

This is why he is sticking to the "you can't prove anything" defense.  This was his logic from the beginning. and he has no other option but to stick with his plan, no matter how weak his defense is.
