1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 23, 2014, 11:12:29 PM
Just as a laugh, just tried to check the transfer time of some of my lovely NXT from account X to account Y. I pressed send on one open NRS with account X, then swapped tabs within Firefox and the NXT was already on account Y. Try that with Bitcoin.....

 Shocked... We could exploit this feature and use it to mix coins into oblivion.

The implementation of RSA over Curve25519 (per the whitepaper) is questionable...

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we need 100 Billions capacity? on: February 21, 2014, 01:14:50 AM
Many flappers asked me about the capacity of Flappycoin.
At the current version (1.0.0.2), we will keep mining 10,000 FLAP per block forever since block 600,000th (~1.5 year from now) just like Dogecoin.
I'm putting a poll up here and let the community decides if we need a Capacity at 100,000,000,000 (100 Billions) or we just let it go on forever?

  • Poll will be closed 60 days from now.
  • We may have a fork at block 100,000th if the community decides to cap at 100 Billions coin
  • Result will only be showed after voting is completed.
  • You may change your vote at anytime you like.

I'm not a member of your community but have you considered reducing the block-time to less than 25 seconds? Is there a real reason to raise the cap aside from a psychological advantage?

I have a lot of money there probably never see it back, sick of it damn Angry

Sorry to hear that man, I would just buy as many BTC as possible while the price is this low, you may get them back eventually.

Need help for Bittrex exchange integration

I received this response from Bittrex after I offered dev help for Nxt integration.

"That would be great.  I've got an implementation in place but would appreciate someone to bounce question off of."

Here is his email, please offer help if you can; support@bittrex.com

I can help with PHP implementation.

This is how I see it: I use blockchain.info and I love it. But I don't store all my bitcoins there. I like to spread the bitcoins in 3 or more different baskets, the more I trust a basket the more bitcoins I put there. My offline wallet has the most.

I think it's the same with NXT. For a newbie, that just wants to start using NXT, I think the online wallet is perfect. If you own several thousand or million NXT, I would not recommend putting all of it in the same place, be it the online wallet or a single NXT NRS wallet.

But you could put some in the online wallet in case you need to use them on the go, or at work, etc.. this is how I am going to use it myself.

Excellent points.

I would like to mention that a  trustless newb-friendly online wallet is overkill.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 19, 2014, 06:53:04 PM
It wouldn't be difficult at all to develop a blockchain.info version of nxt. The entire thing could be done with a few servers and PHP.

CFB has made it extraordinarily easy to use PHP commands with the API of NXT.

This basic format could be used for transactions, or anything really.
ArrayID->json_decode(file_get_contents(url));

ArrayID is the response in this case.

If I get some free time I can have something that works online, I have a meeting in a hour, if it goes well I should have the rest of the day off.

There are large holders that progressively sell part of their stake, this has been happening for weeks and it's an essential part of distribution.

This, essentially.

Don't worry, the price will rise soon enough.

i have a question about passwords. If you have a weak password your coins will be stolen, because of the rainbowtable guys. But isn't it true that when these rainbow guys try to bruteforce an account. And every time they enter a non-existing passwords then each time a new account is created within next?

So if you create a new account with a weak password you probably access an already created account which was bruteforced earlier. There are ofcourse no coins in these accounts so you think they are new. Is there no way to signal that you are entering an already existing account? So you know that you should not send coins to this 'new' account

No, the blockchain is loaded into RAM offline and referenced with a ssd raid setup, no new accounts are created. I don't think there is a signal programmed in yet.

I chose the 370z because Stillen makes a sweet supercharger package for it.

I tipped everyone in this thread that contributed, amounts commensurate with creativity/profit potential.

A total of .5 BTC has been sent out.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 200k USD to invest? on: February 08, 2014, 09:39:34 PM
buy gridseed chips in bulk and produce your own boards. Run gridseed scrypt farm. Scrypt Asics are taking over it will get cheaper from here.

Are the schematics for their chip out yet? I think reverse engineering them would be profitable beyond measure.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 200k USD to invest? on: February 08, 2014, 09:26:02 PM
.5 BTC reward if anyone can post an investment avenue that will net me 100% in one year.

Where should I put my money to make the highest ROI?

Here are the things I'm currently considering:
  • Contracting out a company in India/Serbia to produce scrypt ASICS.
  • Helping out Alpa-Technologies by partnering up and expediting production.
  • Start a massive scrypt farm in a warehouse.
  • Investing with Butterfly Labs.
  • Investing everything back into NXT.
  • Starting a new crypto exchange offshore, relocating offshore as well.
  • Starting a high return crypto hedge fund. (I started my business at 16 with only 800 USD and here I am at 19 with 1 Million in total assets.)

Would anyone here take advantage of a crypto hedge fund?

Hello fellow miners, I am a cryptocurrency entrepreneur from Colorado.

I have just contacted them with an investment offer, if they are interested I will be flying there soon and will report back with my findings (and pictures, lots of pictures). I have high hopes for this company and while I think they come off as "scamy" I believe they are genuine at their core.

Passion_LTC, for there to be a remote chance in hell of people entering their password on your site you need ssl and client side asymmetric encryption with secure server side decryption.

Code:

function RSAKeyPair(encryptionExponent, decryptionExponent, modulus)
{
this.e = biFromHex(encryptionExponent);
this.d = biFromHex(decryptionExponent);
this.m = biFromHex(modulus);

this.chunkSize = 2 * biHighIndex(this.m);
this.radix = 16;
this.barrett = new BarrettMu(this.m);
}

function twoDigit(n)
{
return (n < 10 ? "0" : "") + String(n);
}

function encryptedString(key, s)
{
var a = new Array();
var sl = s.length;
var i = 0;
while (i < sl) {
a[i] = s.charCodeAt(i);
i++;
}

while (a.length % key.chunkSize != 0) {
a[i++] = 0;
}

var al = a.length;
var result = "";

var crypt = key.barrett.powMod(block, key.e);

Uhh...  Huh This is a much needed feature that we can code with available resources and API calls.

Project budget increased 150k NXT btw.
Needed by who exactly? Who will use it and pay money for it?
Backup purposes? It's competing with Crashplan which offers unlimited storage for $59.99/year and similar competitors.
Static website server? It's competing with thousands free hosting providers on the internet.

Decentralized. That's all you need to know.

+1

Also, this is backed by me... I have 2.6M NXT  Wink

Weekend project, let's build a DNS system guys!

Here is what I propose, we encode HTML webpages in base64, the base64 is then truncated and sent. the transaction ID's are retrieved and a master file with the locations (and format) of the truncated html is formed. The masterfile is returned and can be used to access the data.

Multiple master files can be formed (due to 1k data limit) and put into one, etc... unlimited amounts of data could be stored this way.

If a dynamic webpage is needed an account could be created and reserved for "hosting" the latest message sent by this account could be the updated website data. Accounts could be used as domain names in a customized browser.

I already have the truncation programs written, but who wants to join me and make this work?

I have a 100k nxt budget for this project (can be increased).

PM me if you are interested.

That's not a dns system, that's a storage system.

How would you then access the page? Via an alias that has some sort of list of message IDs?

API call to get recent transactions of an account, latest transaction = latest masterfile.

This is better than DNS as you could potentially "host" dynamic webpages by updating only a few files on the masterfile.
