1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Interesting logs - BitcoinMiner usng Bitcoind on CentOS on: March 17, 2014, 12:56:03 AM
Now I see following.

2014-03-17 00:53:05 Running BitcoinMiner with 194 transactions in block (115430 bytes)

How could that be?
I don't mind reading code to find this.  Can someone please direct me to location where I can download the code from.
I'll really appreciate if some one can point out which part of the code relates to this behaviour.

Thanks a ton.

Thanks a lot for the reply.
Sorry, but may be I am not understanding what you wrote.
Could you please re-phrase or provide details.

Thanks a ton.
3  Bitcoin / Pools / Eloipool Question on: March 15, 2014, 05:50:33 PM
Hi,
I currently have a CentOS server setup that runs bitcoind on it and eloipool setup to run and connect to local server.
But, I can see that in near future I'll run out of space.  I checked two days ago and storage required for blockchain was 11G and now its 13G.
Its obvious that its growing fast.

What options do we have?
I may possibly run eloipool without my own bitcoind, but which bitcoin server do I connect to then?
What will we do in future as it seems like in a year or two bitcoind may require space large enough to force use of huge professional data storage?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Interesting logs - BitcoinMiner usng Bitcoind on CentOS on: March 15, 2014, 04:38:24 PM
Hi,
I am a beginner to use bitcoind .
I installed it on CentOS and started the it with flags -server -gen -daemon -conf .
With -gen flag, I believe it would try to mine coins.
I see following logs in debug.log.

2014-03-15 16:30:25 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:25 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:27 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:28 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:29 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:39 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:40 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)
2014-03-15 16:30:41 Running BitcoinMiner with 118 transactions in block (73416 bytes)

I am curious about two facts I see in the logs.
1. I am in EST and actual time of the logs is 12:30 pm, but logs show 16:30 .  I believe that's the bitcoin network time and based on the peers I am connected to by default.  But, why that big difference?
2. I see that BitcoinMiner is running with 118 transactions in block!  Why?  I thought that a block is solved roughly about 10 minutes.
If that's true, then why my bitcoind is trying to use older transactions that might already been packed in a solved by somebody else?

Can someone explain me this or throw some light on misunderstandings if I have any about the way this work?

Thanks a lot.
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / eloipool help on: January 24, 2014, 03:42:00 AM
Hi,

I am trying eloipool for the first time, but couldn't find any helpful documentation so far.
Can some one please provide me link or the doc itself if there is any available.

Appreciate help and guidance.
Thanks a lot.

Fabulous explanation.  I gained so much more understanding about how this works as well as this cleared up some misunderstandings I had before.
Thank you so much for guidance.  After reading some more, I am willing to go little more in depth of this.

Let say I have 2BTC in my wallet.  Now I send 1BTC to some other address.
Per the explanation, I think this is nothing but two (may be more) transactions.
How does it technically happen?  Does my client create the transaction itself?  If no, who else does it for me?  If yes, how do they enter the network?
Does some one need to solve the block which lists this transaction before it enters the network?  Who can make this part of the network and/or block chain?

I know some of my questions sound stupid, but I am ready to take in dirty technical details and really want to digest what happens under the hood.

Thanks again for your guidance.

Hi,

I've been using BitCoins for past few months but never really understood exactly how it works.
Can someone please provide me some guidance or direction.

I don't understand how BTC client sends the transaction detail (for a particular BTC transfer etc.) and to who/where?
Who handles this for client (my guess: BTC daemon - same sotware that is used for client!!!)
How does transaction go to BlockChain?
What is the difference between confirmed and un-confirmed transaction?  (my guess: No body has resolved this Block!!! If yes, what does it mean by resolving a block?  What am I resolving there?  Can I try it at home or I need some sort of super computer/server for this?)

Thanks in advance for the help and guidance.

I really really appreciate your help.

Oh.  That makes sense.  Thank you so much.
I wanted to use Bank Transfer, but found out from internet that it takes months now a days.  Heard some news about Bank Transfers not going through from other exchange Mt. Gox .  So, thought to use PayPal as I already had an account with it.  And fee is 7% .

So, do you see any options?  Any way I can prove to PayPal that I am a victim and not the cause of any problems?
How do I reach out to BTC-E now as they are not responding via support ticket?

Thanks again.  Your guidance has been really helpful.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the reply.  I did contact PayPal by phone.
They provided me vague answer something like this - They were trying to identify/avoid a potential security issue and had to reverse the transaction.  They can not provide me precise/exact reason.  My account is not compromised, but issue is something else.

I think I should mention one more experience that I think might be related to this.
I sold a btc to payhip-exchange.com and they sent me some money to my same PayPal account.  That transaction was also reversed.  They are not responding to my support request either.  The only reason I am giving up on this particular one is because I did not use an escrow service and as I am new to this, I don't know how I get my BTC back now.

I'd really appreciate further guidance on this.

Thanks you so much.

Hi,

I made PayPal withdrawals from my BTC-E account.
I did two of them.  The first one went through and I see money in my PayPal account with no problem.
But, the second one is showing a strange problem.  It initially went through, I saw money, but then that transaction was reversed by PayPal team.
I reached out the BTC-E support and they were looking into it, but I did not get any precise answer so far.  And they've stopped responding to my support ticket in like last few weeks.

Did any one experience similar issue with BTC-E and/or PayPal so far?
What could be causing this issue?

I am newbie and really trying to understand what's going on?

Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks.
