1  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone had access to my account last month - Please beware! on: September 22, 2021, 03:29:08 PM
There is one problem with this though. Someone hacks an account, burns it with a scam of some sort, and then on the way out says "by the way, my account got hacked and the hacker got private keys too". Then the real owner shows up, who possibly never really lost those private keys, and signs a message. I hope you have a bit more to go on than just a word of a (potential) hacker.

We sure do, and I'm certain you understand the reason why we're not able to disclose any more than this. There was a combination of factors that made us come to this decision. It's never easy to leave an account locked, more so a legendary account such as this one and we've said many times that, even if there's a 1% possibility that we're not returning the account back to it's original owner, we'd rather have it remain locked instead of it ending up in the wrong hands.

it will be better if the account remains locked indefinitely.
Well, case closed. Lol.
Is this a first for a user who can sign a message? Or does it happen more often?

Theoretically, he can, but never did nor did we feel the need to ask for one as it wouldn't have meant much since the private keys seem to have been kept on a possibly compromised email address. There were a lot of question marks that wouldn't have been answered even with the help of a signed message in this case.

After a few days of checking every foreseeable aspect of this case (email, private keys, synced browser passwords, secret questions and what not, seem to have been compromised at some point), we've come to the conclusion that the hacking extent is way to big to determine the ownership correctly so it will be better if the account remains locked indefinitely.

5  Other / Meta / Re: Can one change his email address if he no longer has access to it? on: April 27, 2021, 01:06:52 PM
He doesn't need to contact the recovery team just for an email change! If the old email is lost, it's obvious that you need to change it if you ever want to have access to recover you password via email. Just make sure you don't lose the password and you won't need anyone unless the account actually gets lost/locked/hacked.

Thanks. Emailed and they didn't give a clear answer. There is no debate about this - it is my account.

I think the answer was clear enough. Our aim is to always provide the accounts back to their original owners. So if a user goes through the recovery process successfully and proves that he is the account creator, the account is returned to them.
7  Other / Meta / Re: Asking for the reason my main account Crpyto-DesignService got banned on: April 05, 2021, 02:03:37 PM
I don't know how long recovery takes but if you can sign a message I can unlock it.

The answer time at the moment is probably one or two days tops, rarely three if we're very busy. He's emailed us and since we've already started, I'd rather have him go through our process Smiley but thanks a lot for your help!

Message verified, this will serve for trust reference.

I reckon it would be better to edit the email address out of the message.

Welcome back!  Smiley

I don't really understand the urgency since it has only been used to post 3 times since 2016 but I will explain why you've been told that the account will remain locked! While account selling isn't prohibited, it is frowned upon. If the seller/original owner has enough evidence they could claim it back and our aim is to recover accounts back to their original owners.

There is a reason why you have no access to the original email, why you cannot sign a message using any of the addresses staked prior to the feedback left by Timelord and, on top of it all, the email address was changed 3 times on the exact same day that feedback was left (which I'm guessing had some substance to it and wasn't just left out of thin air). That's the reason why we're inclined to think that we're not really returning the account back to the person who created it.

As stated previously, it's indefinitely better for an account (especially a high ranked account such as this one) to remain locked rather than ending up in some else's hands other than it's creator!

Vreun update legat de locatie?  Grin

Inca oscilam intre doua locatii, maine vom reveni cu decizia finala Smiley

Probabil severin.

Hello i just want clarify about my account.
I don't know what happen. I am the real owner of my account.
Today i get email from Bitcointalk, my last login on June 2020. My last reply is on the Bitvest thread.

Please remove my negative trust. I don't know what happen. I never do anything to harmness someone.
I will change my password and also maybe my email. Or tell me how to full control my account again.
I think i just get hacked. But i don't know how the hacker get access to my account. I only access my account in my personal computer or my phone with high security and never install anything software.

Also please don't banned my account. I build my reputation in long way. Very sad if that happen. I swear this is out of my control.

I can confirm that the account was silently used by someone else to post the fake miner but it appears that now, it's back in the original owner's hands and the email and password were changed.

My suggestion would be to perform a complete clean-up on your device and have another go with changing the password and email. Only after that, you can provide a signed message using a previously posted BTC address in order to have Lafu remove his negative feedback. It so happens that the first ever post using this account is a BTC address, so you can use that one if you're still in control.
14  Economy / Reputation / Re: BitcoinGirl.Club hacked? on: August 21, 2020, 01:59:06 PM
The account went through the process and was successfully queued for recovery. Please note that this doesn't guarantee that an account that goes through the recovery procedure needs to necessarily be hacked, in other words, we're only acting on the evidence that the recoverer is the original account-owner and followed the recovery procedure.
15  Other / Meta / Re: Allowing username change, is it good? on: June 04, 2020, 02:07:53 PM
Well, if you're coming back after a long period, you can still search for the user in the members search page by the old username that you're familiar with - as tranthidung said, only the display name changes, not the username. The result will be the new display name but, given the fact there is only one result, IMO it's obvious that it's him even though the display name is different.

Happy Halving all!

At least my bet wasn't the last one on the timestamp contest. Some guy placed a bet for October 17, 2473. I guess he got the timestamp counting a little wrong somehow.  Cheesy
3dOOm had a miscalculation while entering the timestamp  Cheesy.

~

Just a small error, only 400 years. Grin

I received an email with the timestamp when QC will take over Bitcoin and I accidentally copied that one.Shh.. please don't tell this to anyone.

I'm hoping that this date will remain as famous as the word "hodl" is now Cheesy next halving I'll be sure to compete with the "October 17, 2473" timestamp lol.

All things considered, IMO everything went surprisingly well and we all had a lot of fun!
18  Other / Meta / Re: sardasa account hacked yesterday on: April 25, 2020, 02:46:16 PM
Recoveries team is not ready to unlock my account even after proving the ownership of my account. Can someone please help me to get access to my original account. During covid-19 situation I am struggling financially and need my original account to liquidate some of my crypto holdings. I would really appreciate if someone can help me out here.

The account has been hacked so many times that, at this moment, we're unable to guarantee if we're actually talking to the owner or the hacker. Since the account was hacked 3 times, we don't know if the email/private keys are in the owner's hands or not as the hacking extent seems to be pretty serious. Our stance is "no hands at all" is indefinitely better for the account than to end up in the wrong hands and we've made that clear enough by email as well.
19  Other / Meta / Re: ACCOUNT HACK PLEASE WARM on: March 05, 2020, 03:50:50 PM
Why does the account need to be WARM?

Has it been playing out in the cold?

Maybe he was trying to sell it and I misunderstood...

"Hacked accounts, get them while they're warm!"  Grin

If the hacked account was yours and you can prove it, you can follow the recovery procedure here.
