1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IS IT TRUE THAT CYRPTOWORLD IS PRUNE TO HACKERS? on: August 19, 2018, 01:58:28 PM
If you mean "prone" to being hacked, then yeah, the cryptoworld is very susceptible. This is because there are huge amounts of money available on the internet. It's pretty hard for a hacker to steal our fiat cash from your pocket through the internet. Your crypto coins, on the other hand, are ripe for the picking. It's a constant war between hackers and everybody else. I requires smarts and attention to avoid hackers. I think a lot of people hear about others getting hacked and think that it won't happen to them. The more it happens to people, I think the more people will start to be careful and take measures to protect their crypto.

Hawaiian Electric Utility Scam Threatens Disconnection Unless Bitcoin Bill is Paid
It’s a case of an old scam in a new wineskin.

Customers of electric utility companies in the state of Hawaii are being targeted by scammers who are relying on the relative anonymity offered by cryptocurrencies.

The fraudsters are calling the customers of power firms that include Hawaii Electric Light, Maui Electric and Hawaiian Electric claiming that they have overdue bills. Further, the customers who include businesses are being threatened with immediate disconnection if the bills are not paid promptly using bitcoin.

Hundreds of Dollars Already Lost
According to Khon 2, a television station, reports of the scam started emerging earlier this month.  Per Utilities United Against Scams, a consortium of over 100 electric, natural gas, and water utilities in the United States and Canada, hundreds of fraudulent calls have so far been reported. In one of the islands in Hawaii, O’ahu, three businesses have already fallen victim to the scam and have ended up paying hundreds of US dollars at bitcoin ATM machines.

“They weren’t even overdue, but the scammers sounded so convincing that these business owners were willing to pay,” corporate communications director of Hawaiian Electric, Shannon Tangonan, said. “They actually went to a bitcoin machine as directed by these scammers and fed cash into the machines…” https://www.ccn.com/hawaiian-electric-utility-scam-threatens-disconnection-unless-bitcoin-bill-is-paid/
I guess that's pretty creative. It's hard to believe that people actually believe that. How could you ever think that your power company would ask you go to pay cash to a Bitcoin ATM machine, especially if you're not even overdue. This blows my mind. "Hundreds of dollars already lost" doesn't sound like it's even worth a new article. This is small-scale stuff. I remember listening to a radio should about ransomware. People were hacking whole universities and encrypting all their files. They'd only give the decryption key after a transfer was made in Bitcoins. Universities were actually paying. They were (and are, I assume) doing it with personal computers too, but the money is nothing in comparison.

Everyone's standard of living is different。Are you satisfied with your current living standard?
I'm pretty satisfied with my current standard of living. I would like to have some more disposable income, but I have more than I need, at least. I've notice that when you get new things or more money, it's nice at first, but you get used to it very quickly. It typically doesn't increase your quality of life very much. I have the devices that I want. There aren't many things I'd like to buy, that I can't. The only thing I would probably spend more money on, if I had it, would be travel. I'd love to take week-long trips here and there, whenever I want. That would be a bit too strenuous on my budget, as it is now.
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you like Virtual reality? on: August 16, 2018, 08:08:22 PM
To some extent, I think most games are a virtual reality. They have been for a long time. I guess you're referring to the VR when you have some goggles on and you can move your head around like you're in a different reality. That is pretty amazing. In my experience, the technology is still quite limited, but I think it has a lot of potential. Of course, you can incorporate different things into the VR that you can touch or feel that will make it seem even more real. It's amazing to think what games will be like 20 years from now. They just keep getting better.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you care about product? on: August 15, 2018, 09:02:05 PM
Yes I care. Many ICOs are being successful because of the product they made. Product attract many users and also investors and it was a great help to a project.
I think this is key. When you invest in an ICO, you usually do it because you believe in it. You also want a return on investment. It's not a Kickstarter campaign. If you don't believe in the product, then why do you think it will be successful? Of course, receiving an actually product is not the most important thing. The important thing is that the product or at least the company does well. Then you'll be happy and you can buy all the product you want. Wink

JUST IN: Turkey's finance minister says the US dollar has 'lost its credibility'

Source: CNN
So what? Are they gonna go to war with the US? I just read an article about Russia saying the similar thing. The funny thing was though that they had quotes from Russia saying the same thing earlier this year and every year for the past 5 years or so. I don't think this quote from one minister is actually going to mean anything. What are they doing to do about it?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD RX 570 4GB memory - still usable after 3-4 months of mining? on: August 13, 2018, 05:17:49 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am a crypto enthusiast and I made a computer from scratch. Bought everything from Amazon and built the computer. After about 4 months, I stopped Mining because of the crypto going down. It's not that I will sell my crypto but I just wanted to learn how to make a computer and a mining computer so that was that. Now, I just want to get rid of my graphics card and the whole system I built. I used it for about 4 months using nicehash miner.

There are two things in my mind. First, do you think that just after 4 months of mining, my graphics card would be reduced in performance? Secondly, if anyone of you wants to buy it off me, let me know. I live in Bristol, England.

Thanks,
Asad.
Good for you for getting your feet wet in mining! Many people here have told you the truth. The actually performance of your GPU should not change. It can't really deteriorate, as far as I understand. I've read on other forums that a GPU kept in the appropriate environment would work just as well in 200 years as it does now. The thing you need to keep in mind though, is that they do have a lifespan. If you use it 24/7 it will die eventually. If a gamer buys your GPU, he shouldn't notice any performance differences, but theoretically the GPU will die sooner than if it hadn't been used for mining.

I am Buddhist, I am proud to say that. but for this kind of questions like what is the best religion, I don't choice is any religion as a answer. because it is depend on person to person. we should respect to every religions.every religions has been founded to make better person.
What a Buddhist answer! That's one of the reasons I really appreciate Buddhists. They seem to focus much more on their own spirituality. They don't have any mission to tell other people they're wrong. They're not trying to kill or punish the "non-believers". Some "Christians" seem more worried about other people's "salvation" than their own. I think we should be looking at ourselves before we start worrying about anybody else. Since we'll never be perfect, we should probably just shut up when it comes to others' faith.

The battle is on!

Which God, gods, or lack thereof will reign supreme?

You decide!
Haha, you talk about it like there's going to be some battle of "the Gods". If there actually is a God or gods, I'm sure we won't be deciding who wins. Although, I believe that somewhere in the Bible is says that God gets His power from people believing in Him. Maybe that's really how it works, haha. Whichever God is the most believed in will win the battle. I can't say which religion is the best. I think a religion that teaches people to do good things and respect other is cool. I just prefer when they don't try to impose their religious beliefs on others.

It sounds like you might be into something like Hinduism or Buddhism.  They don't go around proselytizing, banging on your door at 8am.  As far as I know, they don't try to convert anyone who doesn't come to them willingly.  They live quite peacefully with other religions.

I believe if there is a god, it would have a sense of humor... god would appreciate someone taking the time to explore the various options rather than simply accept the religion handed to them by their parents
Who knows, maybe. I spent a couple months in India. I didn't feel like Hinduism was for me. I did really respect how strong the culture was for them. Many people I visited were very faithful in doing certain rituals a least once a day. I really like seeing Buddhist people in Thailand and Myanmar. The often have monks go around to gather food donations. It's really humbling to see people go out in their bare feet at 7 a.m. to give a donation.

I was addicted to drugs when I was young and it was hard to stop, how do you think to get rid of drugs?

My brother had a serious drug problem for a couple years. It really helped him to go to a good rehab place near our hometown. He had tried quitting several times. Others tried offering to help him go to a rehab center. That didn't do it though. In the end, it had to be his decision. He made the call and went to rehab on his own free will. He was supposed to be there for just a week, but he asked them to extend another week. He just quit everything, cold turkey, drugs, alcohol, smoking. He's already been completely clean for a few years now.

Hey guys, i need to get myself a computer for everyday work and travelling,
nothing too special, just enough for basic writing, watching videos and eventually playing with some entry-level scripts.
My budget is approx 500 bucks, i've heard that refurbished thinkpads are a great deals. What do you think, any recommendations?
Thanks in advance
ThinkPads would be a great option I think. I don't know how good they would be in your prices range. I do know that they are well known for their great battery life. You may even consider getting a Chromebook. They are all quick cheap and they'll let you do the basics that you want. You shouldn't have any problem really buying something in your price range, since your needs are very simple. A Mac wouldn't fit in your price range, but I don't think you need one anyway.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What factors scare others from investing into bitcoin? on: August 06, 2018, 07:36:50 PM
Bitcoin has come a long way and come really come to stay. As a matter of fact, anytime some people who know nothing about bitcoin are introduce to bitcoin about how bitcoin works, they channel all their attention to whoever is passing the information to them by listening attentively. However, after developing the interest in bitcoin, they quickly revert their interest in bitcoin the moment they hear of the volatile nature of bitcoin, thereby, deciding not to invest into it anymore. Guys, what are some other factors that scare people from investing into bitcoin?
I can speak for myself. I am quite hesitant to invest. I think it's mostly because I don't even know where to start. The main reason would probably be a lack of knowledge. There seems to be so much to learn to make these decisions with any confidence. Volatility is intimidating, but it is greatly magnified by a general lack of knowledge. I need to learn more to be more confident. That would probably be the solution for anybody.
14  Other / Off-topic / Re: I need 100-300 'views' from Facebook bots. What's the best approach? on: August 04, 2018, 02:05:00 PM
I need something like 100-300 bots with a facebook account to visit a couple of ads I put up each week. They're Facebook Marketplace ads, and if you get 100+ views in a short time you get put on a 'featured' list, which I've noticed produces a lot more views (from real people). What's the best way of doing this?

Create the accounts yourself? I'm somewhat "techy".

Pay a site or service to do this? (It's 20-30 ads a week)

Find a guy here?

Let me know. I haven't done something like this before, but I figure it should be cheap.
You would spend forever creating all those accounts yourself. You said you need to visit a couple ads each week, then you said 20-30. If you need 100-300 bots to visit 20-30 bots per week, it would take so much time to do unless you could program your computer to do it for you. Judging by the fact that you say you're "someway techy", you probably won't be doing any programming. Couldn't you just try making actual quality videos? Maybe honesty would be better.
15  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are women most abused? on: August 02, 2018, 01:36:58 PM
Good write-up, I believe most women are abused due to how submissive and indecisive they are in most dealings. Women are seen as fragile so they are easily abused due to their perceived weakness in the sight of society. But I think the thread is changing lately, as women of today are more precise and dependent in their dealings.
Why would you say women are indecisive? Could you share some specific examples? You should probably have many many example in order to speak of all women like that. It sounds like a very sexist comment. Of course, some women are indecisive, but so are many men. I would argue that women aren't just seen as fragile, most of them are fragile. On average, women are much more fragile than men.  It's highly unlikely that there will a trend of women becoming stronger on average than men. Please also elaborate on your statement that women are more precise and dependent lately. What does that mean?
16  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to? on: August 01, 2018, 03:15:25 PM
On the off chance that God summoned mo to execute my own youngster I will do it. In any case, before that I will ask Him what is the purpose behind what valid reason you request that I execute my own particular kid and I know there is other reason so I will do it.
I suppose that in your theoretical situation you are talking to God on the phone? Or will He come visit you in person? You will ask him why, then what? Can you imagine a reason that would be very convincing? Perhaps he would just say, "Because I'm God and I said so." Would that be enough for you? How can you be sure that it's God talking to you?
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do news stations hate the internet . on: July 31, 2018, 10:32:19 AM
Well, there are various distortion of news items nowadays between the internet and the news stations.People can easily read from bloggers on the internet so in the quest to attract attention from the public, the bloggers will intentionally twist the story.Sometimes too the media houses want to hide the truth but thanks to bloggers who exposes it.so it is a dicey area between media houses and bloggers powered by the internet.
Are you saying that bloggers tell lies, so people will read them instead of watching the news stations? I don't know if twisting facts is their main tool to gain viewers. News stations do that enough themselves. I think there is one thing people may neglect to consider in this "battle between bloggers and news stations". Bloggers can be anybody! Nothing is stopping the same people that are producing fake news on TV from spreading fake news through blogs and other places on the Internet. It's so hard to know who you can trust. Even if your good trusted friends shares some news with you, you first need to check the sources and try to figure out if it's true or not.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are women most abused? on: July 30, 2018, 11:57:36 AM
i see . That might be from your side. Women are being cherised here and are given the maximum respect . Am not saying people don't abuse women here . They do but not often and rarely happen
Where is "here" for you? Please tell us about it and share some examples. I don't think I know of one of those societies. I know there are some cultures where people are extremely protective of women. For them women should always be with a man. When the women are young they are with their father, or they may go out with their brothers. It stays this way until the women get married, then they should be with their husband. I'm sure they would say that they are just caring for their women, but, in reality, they are greatly restricting their freedoms.
19  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are women most abused? on: July 29, 2018, 12:40:22 PM
From time past till now women are the most abused, despite the fact that inhumanity is a sin before God. The importance of women is not recognise in our society today even with the unique power of creativity to bring new life into being that God has given to them. Women deserve to be given the chance to express their self because they are the vehicle through which life come to earth, God gave them this special ability because  they have the heart to nurture others. Lets give them chance to contribute to the growth of our society.
Of course women deserve to express themselves. Nobody deserves to be abused. Sometimes women physically abuse men, but this isn't very common. The obvious reason is that men are physically strong than women. It's not that of that you find smaller people physically abusing larger people. Unless the larger person is scared of the smaller person for some other reasons, it doesn't seem like a good idea to pick a fight with somebody that could cause you serious damage.
20  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do news stations hate the internet . on: July 28, 2018, 05:27:13 PM
They most certainly can spill lies and they continue to do so. Although the internet is a HUGE deal and it is just getting bigger, TV is still a huge deal. Millions of people watch TV in the US for many hours everyday. People who are actually interested in "the news" don't turn on Facebook or YouTube. They turn on what has always been to them "the news". That would be the big TV new outlets and the big newspapers. I do think that the big news outlets' influence is gradually getting weaker, but it's far from being gone. Keep in mind that some fake news is purposefully produced to cause confusion. There are people with a vested interest in having you feel like you can't believe anyone.
