There's already implicit agreement in place that the ban be executed, feigned illiteracy/dyslexia aside
first you need to establish a local rule is an agreement to full extend. I don't think it is unless the other party explicitly confirms he agrees. implicit agreements or contracts aren't necessary valid, explicit ones are as long as they're not against the law (or forum rules I guess) The moderator has no legitimate reason to reject a binding agreement between me & my rule violators.
he has no reason to enforce private agreements. I'd bet most moderators wouldn't ban me even if I explicitly agreed to be banned if I post somewhere, unless I break some forum rules a moderator's job is to enforce the forum's rules, not private agreements |

banning someone just for breaking a local rule would be absurd. you can't demand a moderator to enforce that if he doesn't agree |

2fa is enabled in essence because when someone tries to hack and take access of your account you can lock it via the link in the email you get if it wasn't you. The issue is is that most people complaining in Meta are waiting for their accounts to be restored to them by an admin which isn't really happening. Better 2fa options will be available on the new forum but the email lock is probably as good as we're going to get on this one.

It's probably just that little bit of money, plus a LOT OF PROGRAMMING TIME. Theymos has modded this forum considerably. That's why it's such an old version of SMF - he can't upgrade it anymore. A "simple" thing like 2FA could break a dozen mods he has made.... that makes sense if that's the case. but has that been tested? adding 2fa would be very important. it's definitely worth trying the plugin and checking if it really breaks something. there must be a dev/test installation of the forum I guess |

That is completely illogical. With that logic a pizza would still be 10,000 BTC because it would be 'unfair' to the guy who bought a pizza for that much, when that was the price of a pizza at the time.
Deflation is a thing, and I would enjoy hearing the opinion of a donor who genuinely believes that their donation of $50 in 2012 is equivalent to someone donating over $100k today. Agreed. Great logical example  I think getting donor status is not on anyones mind any more. Just not worth it and nothing to gain. it makes sense only if "donator" is no longer seen really as "donator" but "old user" or "bitcoin pioneer" it differentiate users who were here soon enough so that 10 btc were worth 1 month of hosting Just for the record, the 10 BTC donation was not an arbitrary number, but meant to be more or less equivalent to 1 month of hosting. If anything, something like today's equivalent to 1 month of hosting would be an appropriate amount of money to be considered a donator. My 2 cents.  that makes sense. and even that would be much more (in fiat) now that it was before as I'm sure the forum is bigger now and needs a much bigger server |

Anyway, not everyone would use 2FA and even if you enforce everyone to use it, issues like unable to login due to 2FA would become the new problem. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0it doesn't have to be mandatory. but users who are worried about security would have that option "issues like unable to login due to 2FA would become the new problem" are you saying it's better to have hacked account and hackers to scam with those accounts rather than a few users who don't know how to use 2fa to complain? I don't see why but maybe it was difficult to implement that in the past and I understand it's not worth putting a lot of effort developing something if the new version of the forum is about to be ready but $15 or $20 and a few clicks?! it's already done, ready to be easily installed it's like if someone already completed that bounty but charged $20 instead of 2 btc it is worth even if it lasts 1 month before the next forum version! and I doubt it will last less than several months or more than 1 year |

first, it's not you who must make the 10 valuable posts, you must find 10 posts worth of merit and I'd guess newbies can't be sources If you want to be a merit source:
1. Be a somewhat established member.
2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread.
3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.
I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections. |
