whats the difference in telling them before or after, so long as you tell them in a reasonable amount of time? also, im not exactly what you would call a seasoned white hat, or any kind of hacker, it was pretty much a flook to be honest so i cant really be expected to be informed on the ins and outs on what is good or bad practice regarding white hat hacking or hacking in general.
For codtycoon:
Hey Buddy, quick question for you:
Why you needed more 2,000,000 XEM to try the hack if it was purely for a "security check" exercise ?
I believe, if you asked for 5-10-100 or even 1000 XEM here in the forum ,explaining that they were going to be used for a XEM security improvement, anyone that is NEM passionate could have give them to you if you were broke. I believe even Makoto could have given 2-3 NEM to you.. But I wouldn't bet on him
So, Why more then 2,000,000 and not only a few XEM for you Hack Test That's my question.
Thanks for reply. IF you will reply.
Regards,

What trolling means for you? I'm trying to figure it out, but...
Is it an attitude? Maybe The use of a specific word or a few words?
Or It may be that I wrote something you don't like?
Well, in that case is not trolling mate... It's just u.. Use ignore button.

"The exchange could have caught onto him and simply kept the NEM for themselves as an F-You, and he would have had little recourse, and also been unable to pay back the 'borrowed' ".
coins were never at risk. the "hack" involved a legitimate deposit, followed by legitimate withdrawal, which means the exchange could not have been aware of any "hack" until after the initial deposit had been withdrawn and were safe. it was either it doesnt work and i still have the coins or it worked and i had a lot more. i wouldnt have attempted it had the coins been at risk at any time.Quote
Had he notified the owner of the exchange in advance of the plan and gained consent, this would have been whitehat hacking - which is a respectable activity
