1  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Stuck Preparing Databases (Db pageId out of range) on: May 22, 2021, 12:59:28 PM
Is there a zombie ArmoryDB.exe process on your system? Are you automating ArmoryDB or running it manually? If manually, is there some other process listening on ArmoryDB's port (9001)?
It must have been something like that; rebooting the computer has fixed it.

I run Bitcoin core manually, and when that has caught up, run ArmoryQt manually. I guess that starts ArmoryDB automatically.

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

There's a terabyte free on the D: drive where the programs and files are. The C: was low so I'll see if freeing up space there helps, thanks.

It's 64-bit Windows and the permissions have been changed since it was working.

My Armory is stuck on Preparing Databases. It's v0.96.5, running on Windows 8.1. Bitcoin core is v0.21.0. I am starting Bitcoin core manually, and it is fully synced before Armory starts. There is no progress shown in the progress bar. The log contains lots of errors like:

Quote
2021-05-17 12:29:59 (INFO) -- ArmoryQt.py:4672 - Dashboard switched to "Scanning" mode

Log file opened at 14:41:45.000: D:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Armory\armorycpplog.txt
-ERROR - 16:25:14.093: (e:\users\goat\code\armory3\cppforswig\DataObject.h:296) Db request returned ErrorType:
   pageId out of range

There's also a few like:
Quote
Log file opened at 10:56:01.000: D:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Armory\armorycpplog.txt
-ERROR - 10:56:07.968: (e:\users\goat\code\armory3\cppforswig\DataObject.h:286) exhausted entries in Arguments object
-ERROR - 10:56:07.984: (..\SwigClient.cpp:61) exhausted entries in Arguments object

I've been reading through the forum, and while I found some other cases of it getting stuck, I couldn't see any that had these errors. Any suggestions?

Thanks allinvain, do you know the approximate return per 1,000 Ardor?
Approximately zero.

Currently 340M are forging, so 240,000 ARDR will yield roughly one block a day. 80% of the last 100 blocks were empty.

(ARDR needed for one block per day is total_forging/1440.)

I would say that the crypto experiment has failed.  Not because my coins were stolen with a simple key logger, but because there is no honor in the crypto space.  The internet seems to bring out the best and worst in people.  Money or the idea of money brings out the worst in people.   The idea of decentralization would be admirable if it were accompanied by honorable users.  Money and honor can not co-exist apparently.  So what do you end up with?  A club of users hoarding coins, thinking those coins are worth something simply because a small minority of users are willing to trade a small minority of the coins for an inflated value.  The truth is that if everyone decided not to trade then we would see the real value of these coins which is ZERO.  The only thing required to give the coin value is some sucker to trade his coins for value and now all of the sudden the entire network suddenly has value.   I'm not trying to spread FUD about crypto.  Crypto is not the problem.  People are the problem. As long as people are willing to act dishonorably then Crypto will fail.  ARDR is a good coin but at the end of the day it is just a computer software program that took a year or two to code.  It is not worth a billion dollars.  Maybe it is some coder's pet project, their baby.  That is admirable. The talent is admirable. But if users put that kind of price tag on a software network of thieves then they deserve to get scammed IMHO.  So what?  My 113,000 coins had perceived value.  Not to me.  I know their true worth.  Zero, because I choose zero.

Word to the wise.  If you want to be rich, then read a book, or go outside and go hiking.  Get away from the computer.  Wealth is in the mind.   Kiss  Kiss Kiss

Good-bye!!!
If you had a keylogger, wasn't that equally likely to steal fiat if you used online banking? I'm not sure why you are saying there is no honour in the crypto space because of one bad apple.

I think you underestimate the work put into Ardor. It is based on Nxt, so the code base is more than 4 years old and has had several programmers working on it. The real value will come from how it gets used. Nxt didn't seem to get used much, but Ardor has launched with a bit more publicity, and Jelurida has funds from the ICO, so we're hoping for better things.

hey guys,
I had my nxt on Poloniex. is there any chance to get free coins?
thanks!

sorry but all had known polo dont announced to support airdrop. so you wont get any ignis. polo will sell them for themselves.

I hope you learned your lesson.
Poloniex general policy is not to claim customer airdrops for themselves. They'll either ignore them completely, or claim them and assign them to customers.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | Nxt | Blockchain Platform | Proof of Stake | Official on: December 29, 2017, 08:16:32 PM
Why people are trading Ardor in Poloniex?
Will Poloniex offer them real Ardor when it is launched on Jan. 1st?

I'm wondering that too. On NxtClient, the ARDR trading is frozen, so how come some exchanges still continue trading with it?

When will Ardor  unfreeze in Poloniex?
Poloniex is a bit scary. They've not made any announcement about the snapshot. They continued trading ARDR and it's not clear what that represents now. It used to represent the asset on the Nxt chain. That's now frozen, and Poloniex haven't said they will support the Ardor chain, so maybe it now represents the tokens on the Ardor chain and maybe it still represents the frozen assets on the Nxt chain. Nobody knows. Meanwhile Poloniex have noticed that ARDR withdrawals don't work and they've put up a notice about it which does not give confidence:

"ARDR is currently under maintenance or experiencing wallet/network issues. Deposits and withdrawals will remain disabled until a solution is found, which may require an update from the ARDR team. Any updates must be tested and audited before enabling."

Makes it sound like this has taken them by surprise.

Are we supposed to wait until after the 1st to download the ardor wallet to receive the ignis distrubution? or do we download it now?
I'm a bit confused
It's not available yet but should be within a day or two.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | Nxt | Blockchain Platform | Proof of Stake | Official on: December 28, 2017, 03:16:22 PM
biggest loss Sad
i bought NXT @ 1.54, now i see its only 80 cent.
wil ignis give me return of my money?
pls give me some hope.

I doubt it.

NXT is sort of a scam . I don’t understand why IGNIS is not available right now.... isn’t it a blockchain coin ?  3 more days can change a lot.

Ignis will be on the new Ardor platform, which doesn't exist yet. It will take some time for the devs to import the snapshot from the Nxt platform and turn it into ARDR and IGNIS balances in the genesis block of the new platform. They'll probably release the final version of the software, with the final balances, within a day or two. That gives everyone a day or two to check their balance is correct and sort out any problems, and also to get the new software installed on plenty of nodes. Nodes can start running before the 1st; they just can't process any blocks until then.

It's going to take 4 days partly because it's a lot of data, partly to allow time for checks, and partly to allow time to distribute the software.
10  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.3 Bump Fee not working on: December 22, 2017, 05:22:17 PM
So, it looks like being a problem since September.
How to address the three sent tx stuck in the net?

TIA
Using Help > Clear All Unconfirmed, restarting Armory, then remake the transaction from scratch with a bigger fee, is a brute-force method that has worked for me.
11  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.2 Bump Fee not working on: December 20, 2017, 12:40:33 PM
My transaction has been visible in blockchain.info for a week though. So I think our problems are different. I just need instructions on how to broadcast manually.
I now have the same problem, but with a transaction that has been broadcast. Bump Fee does nothing, and writes nothing to the logfile. I tried deleting geometry entries in the settings file, but it made no difference.

I have tried using Send Coins > RBF Control. It sets source to the right transaction. I have set a new receive address in my wallet, and set Amount to Max. However, I am getting Size: N/A, Fee: N/A, and Preview Transaction says it has an Invalid spend value. Using other amounts makes no difference.

I'm really not sure what I am supposed to do here. Is there any documentation on this I can read? Armory doesn't seem to have a help file.

Anyone here please send me link of nxt wallet where i can get free ignis on airdrop. i do not know where to hold nxt for free ignis.

You have to download and install the wallet https://nxtplatform.org/download/, then go to an exchange, buy NXT there and withdraw to your wallet. Then wait til December 28th (is this still the date?) for the Ignis.

28th of December is indeed the date of the snapshot on which will be based how much IGNIS you will recieve (2:1 ratio). But they will only show up on (or just after?) the 1st of January
A day or two after the snapshot on the 28th, there will be a new release of the Ardor software that will include the final genesis block. You should be able to run it and check your balance for IGNIS and ARDR is correct immediately, and you'll probably be able to check it with Jelurida's online wallet too. You won't be able to do anything other than look at it until the 1st. That's when forging begins and the first transactions become possible.
13  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.2 Bump Fee not working on: December 17, 2017, 03:14:04 PM
I have a similar issue. When I right-click and select Bump Fee, nothing seems to happen. No dialog appears, and nothing extra is written in File > Export Log File....

The transaction has 1 input and 1 SegWit output. It looks like it never got propagated to the network - there was a warning about P2P/RPC when I created it, and Blockchain Info says "Transaction not found" more than half an hour later. I'm using Armory 0.96.3.99, and Core 0.14.1. So it may be that this behaviour is as designed; if so, the user experience is not great.

Later: I used Help > Clear All Unconfirmed to get rid of it. Resending with a higher fee had the same problem. I'm going to try updating core to 0.15.1. If my node isn't well-connected enough, is there anything I can do to improve that?
14  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Lost Password for Armory Wallet on: November 12, 2017, 01:19:24 PM
Be aware that Armory has its own subforum at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=97.0. I doubt they will be able to offer better help than already given here, though.
15  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.4 RC1 on: November 05, 2017, 08:56:58 PM
Thanks. I'm surprised it needs a commandline option, given that SegWit is off by default.

Has Armory got slower to launch recently? I had it running and synced, closed it, then immediately restarted it. It's taken several minutes to build databases and now says an hour to scan transaction history. I'm sure it used to be much quicker just a few months ago.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | Nxt | Blockchain Platform | Proof of Stake | Official on: November 04, 2017, 12:36:45 PM
Why don't you develop the initial coin NXT rather than creating so many assets ..
Two reasons. First, is that the new Ardor architecture for child-chains was too radical to be retro-fitted to the old coin. Second, introducing a new chain, with a new social contract, provided the opportunity to raise much-needed funds.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | Nxt | Blockchain Platform | Proof of Stake | Official on: November 04, 2017, 12:32:58 PM
In this regard, isn't it an advantage for Ethereum that it is so big that projects choosing it to run their tokens on can be sure it will still exist in 2 years from now while NXT is somewhat declining?! Just would like to hear your opinion on it.
The devs have said they'll support Nxt for at least three years. See for example Arthur Penzl on Medium. It doesn't cost a lot to run some full nodes for it. The bigger issue is whether enough other people use it to give it enough value that the security model works. However, in my view over three years Ethereum is not a sure bet either.
18  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: 0.96.4 RC1 on: November 03, 2017, 04:10:41 PM
I'm unable to set the preferred receive address type to P2SH-P2WPKH for my offline machine. I've just updated both my online and my offline to this release. My online, connected computer allows all the address types. The offline one has P2SH-P2WPKH disabled. Is there a reason for this?

PS I really think you should have a sticky post at the top of this forum pointing to https://btcarmory.com/docs/. I just tried searching ang got https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/ again. It's not clear which is the best site to use.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | Nxt | Blockchain Platform | Proof of Stake | Official on: October 21, 2017, 03:20:31 PM

Hi,

Which wallet should we use to keep NXT to earn ignis?
And when will we get Ignis? Smiley

Guys when will we have ignis?

The Ardor Genesis Snapshot will be performed at least two weeks after the end of the last JLRDA sale round. The launch of Ardor will therefore be done in Q4 instead of Q3, the delay being due to the complexities of setting up and running a legally compliant ICO.
Nov 04 last JLRDA sale round + 14 days =
28 November 2017

Is that solid?
I mean if Ignis doesn't sell out then, what will happen?

The final snapshot will be taken around Christmas day (block 1630000) and the Ardor Platform will launch on 1st Jan. See https://www.jelurida.com/ardor-release-timeline.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: I just want to say what a big deal v1.11.7 is. on: August 07, 2017, 11:34:43 PM
(I'm sorry if you've seen this before. I just posted this on Reddit and I thought I'd say it again here.)

People had been complaining about the ICO, for good reason. They were also saying the devs didn't care; that they were happy if a few whales bought as long as they got their money. Those of us that have been involved in Nxt for a while knew better.

This update is important for two reasons. The first is that it levels the playing field. It effectively gives the bot advantage to everyone. Now whether you get to buy or not mainly depends on whether your transaction is lucky enough to reach the forging node before the offering is sold out. That mostly depends on your network connectivity. Whales don't get any particular advantage any more.

Perhaps more importantly, it also shows that the devs listen to the community, they care, and they work hard to fix problems. They have been doing this for more than the 4 years that Nxt has been a running crypto-currency. They will keep on doing it into the future. They believe in crypto-currencies as a force for good in the world and they are making it happen.

The potential here is huge. Nxt has taken a bit of a beating over the last year, partly because the devs have been working on their vision for Ardor and so Nxt itself has not had many updates in that time. All that behind-the-scenes work is about to come to fruition, with Ardor now on Testnet and going to be properly launched on Livenet by the end of the year. Ardor finally solves the scalability problems that cripple all other crypto-currencies.

The problems this ICO has had are problems of success. It is over-subscribed. Whales want in because they know the devs will deliver. They also want to put their money in because they know money is needed. Nxt raised some Bitcoin for development and marketing back when it started, all those years ago, and that money ran out. The community tried to raise money other ways, but really Nxt has been running on fumes for a while now. The success of this ICO means that phase is over.

The Ardor platform will finally have the financial backing it deserves. With that, and the unmatched technology, and some of the best devs in the business, Ardor/Ignis is poised for take-off.
