1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it the bottom of the market? Time to buy coins? on: November 16, 2018, 02:24:58 PM
So the question is following: would the market still go down or not much more and it would make sense to start shopping?

Some have claimed the bottom was at 5700$. Some said the bottom was not reached.
Some claim the bottom was at 5200$. Some said we'll go to 4000$.
In fact nobody knows.

And in fact you should never ask for investment advises from random people over internet.

I am not really looking for advise to buy or not to buy. I like reading how people reason the current events and their statements, what forms their opinion buy / sell. What potential influential events to watch after. If you see my comments, I like to ask questions as this is the only way to learn. Part of the research how the community is feeling and thinking.

Now is the right time to buy coins and a good opportunity when the price's at the lowest point. Will be a big aprofit when the bull run.

How do you know when the bull run starts?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it the bottom of the market? Time to buy coins? on: November 16, 2018, 02:16:55 PM
the whole crypto market is down so i think its good time to invest in bitcoin and some potential altcoins for long-term,it will give you great profit after market recovery of market
I think it is not yet time to invest, we need to look at the market better and as soon as we are sure that the market will start to grow, to buy coins.

What would be the indications that the market started to grow?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it the bottom of the market? Time to buy coins? on: November 16, 2018, 01:39:23 PM
it makes a sense as long as you can hold it for a while, cryptocurrency's logic is you will not lose anything if you do not sell it cheaper from where you bought it before.
if we are talking about peoples speculation about Bitcoin and other alts right now, they are expecting another down in a few days or weeks before the end of the year.
usually when it comes to holiday, the price always gets dumped. just like before, but let's hope that we will not see any of this again in the future because the chart will look so terribly ugly from this point if this down happens again.

But last year the prices went suuuper up right in the mid of December so right before holidays.

The prices went even lower than the last years' dip right before the bull market. However, the BCH hard fork with its Hash Wars doesn't seem to bring any clarity or stability to the market.

So the question is following: would the market still go down or not much more and it would make sense to start shopping?

Looks like an opportunity.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do Airdrops attract investors? on: August 06, 2018, 07:44:21 AM
They did but airdrops are also subject to the law of unintended consequences. Sometimes, they might not have the investor pull that was expected from the onset. In the short term, price may dump, and the artificial community created by bounty hunters does not last too long

Can you comment more on unintended consequences? What exactly do you mean?

I believe there is different audiences if you separate Airdrop and Bounty. I know mostly they come together as it is then easier to attract the masses, but I believe a bounty without an airdrop might actually be a better solution. As incentivisation for investment it could be an additional bonus on the invested amount, but not just free tokens to everyone. Thoughts?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do Airdrops attract investors? on: August 06, 2018, 07:15:30 AM
It does, it helps to build a community from which investor will eventually emerge

Do you know any statistics on that?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do Airdrops attract investors? on: August 06, 2018, 07:08:33 AM
Airdrop is given to those who need and want to join if to attract investors seems less attractive.
It was only for a moment and as if for charity.

So do you think the Airdrops in the matter of investments are actually useless?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do Airdrops attract investors? on: August 06, 2018, 07:00:57 AM
Have you ever gone to a supermarket where there's a hotdog stall that offers free taste. That's also the same with these airdrops, they are attracting people all in all by giving such tokens for free.
That makes these airdrop people announce and tell others that they've found a good token which results them to advertise that project.

Yes I do understand the tasting part and was thinking exactly the same until I started reading BitcoinTalk where non of investors mentioned Airdrops being at least one of their Altcoin discovery channels.

I know that for some ranking sites, there should be established community to get a good ranking, which mostly is acquired via Airdrops. But then it is the same as buying fake accounts to have just a number to get better ranking. I want to see if I am missing something?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Do Airdrops attract investors? on: August 05, 2018, 08:58:48 PM
I read thread on how to choose an Altcoin and noticed that nobody who is looking into investing has even mentioned an airdrop.
So why do so many ICOs give away their tokens if no real investors really are checking the free token giveaways?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: how do you choose Altcoin .. ?? on: August 05, 2018, 08:51:40 PM
How do you choose Altcoin...??!
And how do you choose a bounty project ... ??!
Please give me your opinion, because your opinion will be very useful for me who is still as a beginner ..
I chose Altcoin because I saw in terms of the growth of Altcoin. If the growth of Altcoin is good and stable, I will definitely buy a lot of coins.

How do you define good and stable growth of the coin? Are you investing in coins after they hit an exchange or earlier like ICO or even pre-ICO?
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet vs Exchange on: August 04, 2018, 04:15:12 PM
If you are looking into long-term investment, then Wallet and (preferably cold storage) is better.

On the exchange, you only keep amounts you want to trade. Not more. Or the amount that you actually want to pay out.

There is at least one article on news that exchanges have been hacked. I don't like paying Gas for transfers from exchange wallet to my private one, but this is the only way to have them safe. In my case for the last three months its 100% on wallet.

I am looking into trading and investing now, so most likely will be transfering either onto Hot Wallet or Exchange, depending of what I want to do.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie on: August 04, 2018, 04:08:25 PM
Hello fellow Newbie, this forum feels like an ocean of information. When I start reading it in the morning at lunch I already have 14 open tabs because i don't want to miss any interesting topic... I did some research and quite a lot of information are on the announcements topic and also Telegram Channels. For the purpose of fun, I registered for 30 airdrops and put all infos on a sheet so I could track them later. A month later, there were still no airdrops as the ICOs were still kind of either starting or just in the middle. So when registering for an airdrop, keep in mind:
- It might take from 1 to 5 min to actually complete full Airdrop registration
- At least 15% of all registrations will fail due to tech problems on ICO sites
- Have some patience, because you will receive your tokens most likely only in 3 to 6 months.
- and once you received your tokens, they will worth less then promised at the beginning but the price would most likely get up later on if the token economy was done by someone who actually understands it.
- 4 months passed since I registered to the Airdrops and i still did not get at least 80% of the tokens Smiley

My conclusion for now - unless you are really looking into finding interesting ICOs to invest, it is not really worth registering for every single Airdrop - it is rather time consuming, brings you 5$ in four months (if you are lucky) and you have a lot of small amounts of different coins.

Please let me know if my conclusions are wrong.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEO v/s ETH on: August 04, 2018, 02:42:54 PM
With Ethereum it is a chicken and egg problem. The most used Ethereum protocol ERC20 ist very buggy. There is a thread on Reddit called "Researchers discovered 34,200 buggy smart contracts on Ethereum." - ironically it is on NEO subreddit Smiley So the smart contracts are buggy and unsafe - people already losing money because of the bugs, HOWEVER yet, it is the most used protocol with a relatively easy learning curve for new investors and fast-growing infrastructure like a wallet and purchase possibilities on exchanges. So even companies know of the bugs, they still want to use already built infrastructure. This is why there are many ICOs that moved from the ERC20 to either different blockchain or even created their own.

NEO, on the other hand, does not have these problems, its tech is safe and ecosystem growing, however, it is not that big yet and adoption means additional learning curve for investors if they ever get to discovering NEO in the first place. So being better project does not mean a brighter future just yet.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: possibilities for crypto on: August 04, 2018, 01:57:18 PM
It seems to me that now there is a high probability that the crypt can generally collapse. I really would not want this, but it's possible.

Why do you think it would collapse and how the collapsing would look like?
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earning Merit on the forum seems to be difficult for newbies. on: August 03, 2018, 05:10:02 PM
Not just for newbies but for everyone.
Smerit is the one to give to the people who post constructive and informative.
but now only selected people are getting Smerits.

Is Smerit the same as Merit?

How does it work, when you earn them, do you technically loose them for giving away to someone else?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency is a bubble? on: August 03, 2018, 04:16:01 PM
I think the real bubble is yet still to come. We are still early adopters as 90% of people I talk around still think ICOs and bitcoin is a bad thing. I ask why? The answer - scam!
It is so ironic that cryptocurrencies are treated as one of biggest modern scams, yet the foundation technology of cryptos is meant to be become most trustworthy way of doing business....
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Patience is the key on: August 03, 2018, 04:00:40 PM
Well, patience without a strategy can also be useless.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It could take 2 years for the market to recover on: August 03, 2018, 11:02:26 AM
Please define me the "recover" part. Can someone tell me which point do we take as a standard of the market and so from which point are we talking the recovering or - looking to the other side - going upwards?
