1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [pre-ANN] Moonify.io XMR MINER + REWARD CURRENCY on: October 19, 2018, 08:46:17 AM
Nice to see a new software release, well done! Been following the project for a while now and will test it out.

I think you need a system that is whitelisted. I saw Moonify in another thread.

Using exchanges like coinbase is very easy for beginner and it is where I bought my first one. However fees are quite high so perhaps you must look for another one. You can also pay in UK pounds now which is cool. If you do a transfer it is free I think but if you just buy with a card you incur cost. I haven't tried abra at all. Try to see which ones have lower and higher fees and compare them to get the best deal.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the new strategy? on: August 08, 2018, 11:29:04 AM
Just recently i noticed a common trend with almost all ICOs.

There have been lots of complains that bounty hunters dump their tokens immediately after receiving them. Although, it is not true for all bounty hunters. Some still hold theirs.

Investors now get their tokens before bounty hunters. They are also allowed to start trading before bounty hunters get their rewards.
I believe this will prevent the investors from complaining and blaming the dump in price on bounty hunters.

I read an interesting article about smartdrops on coindesk not so long ago and this could be a way to stop this:https://www.coindesk.com/say-hello-to-smartdrops-the-new-way-to-give-away-crypto-money/

I also read the bounty hunters got rewards then dumped them to help them get on exchanges but perhaps I did not read correctly.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will you ever be able to pay for a coffee with Bitcoin? on: August 08, 2018, 09:51:21 AM
I'm having a coffee with Jet Cash, and we are discussing the recent fake news about Starbucks. He doesn't see how any cafe could accept Bitcoin in payment for a coffee. Well maybe if you use Lightning network, but a regular Bitcoin payment doesn't seem viable. Ignoring the issue of high fees, the confirmation time seems to be the problem. With average block creation times of around 10 minutes, it can take up to 20 minutes or so for a transaction to get into a block, and that is providing that it gets into the next creation, and it isn't an orphan. That seems far too long if you are waiting in a payment queue.

I see so many people wetting their pants because some fast food chain is rumoured to be accepting Bitcoin, but I can't see it ever happening. Can you see a way for the cafe to start accepting Bitcoin?

Hmm, isn't this what litecoin was really all about - speeding up blocktimes and faster transactions and maybe a payment method that was technological improvement to btc. Also someone comment about bitcoincash card that you can buy in Starbucks. For me, makes whole process more complicated. I have seen projects like TenX will POS and accompanying card. One company really needs to make a functional crypto payment system that works. We will never get adoption unless this becomes a thing and people use only crypto for speculating and nothing more which is a shame.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto Scams - fake ICO's on: August 08, 2018, 09:43:35 AM
Interesting read from forum author, thanks for some good insights.

I feel that maybe there needs to be some kind of scam to actually exist and, terribly some people need to lose money actually. You can't just throw money at projects and expect them to work either. I bet that most people don't even read whitepaper and not really even know or understand at least how cryptocurrency works in the first place. Whilst I agree with your comment, I believe education is a big factor and if you don't know how bitcoin or another project works and you see a cool new ICO that promise lots of stuffs then immediately think its cool and a great investment.

My point is, there will always be fake ICOs. There is money in it and naturally criminals too. Education, ie reading white papers is essential and this is just simply not done enough by investor. If you don't DYOR you may as well spend money on roulette. This is just my opioin and I know that ICO scams are more sophisticated now but I feel that basic principal (like understand the mecanism and market first) would really help.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [pre-ANN] Moonify BROWSER MINING + USERS REWARD - Looking for promotion on: August 08, 2018, 09:14:47 AM
We have written and rewritten this post so many times. Everytime we were about to post it we told ourselves that it was too early, that it was missing this and that, and that our project wasn’t mature enough to post here.
In actual fact, in a startup, things move so quickly that something you write one day quickly becomes obsolete a few days later.
This, coupled with the fact that we’re evolving in one of the most dynamic sectors at the moment has a real multiplier effect. In any case, we need to start somewhere!

I’m Jean, the CEO of Moonify; a small team of five, furiously working on laying the foundations of an ambitious idea.
Democratizing cryptocurrencies by proposing mining to people whilst they browse a website, play a game or use an app then get rewarded with tokens.
Content editors are paid in return for providing traffic to the Moonify platform.

Browser or in-app mining, nothing really new here then huh ?
Right, but mining is not really the thing, mining is just the means by which we penetrate a new market and educate people.
The big thing is THE USER REWARD. We will develop this topic in our official ANN.

Unlike some of our competitors who have resorted to malware, we strongly believe that cryptojacking is a tragic and terribly short-term practice that contributes to exacerbating the narrative about “the dark side of crypto”.
Our miner was developed within an environment of respect and ethics. It’s not hidden from users whatsoever.
They can opt-in/opt-out as they wish whilst maintaining full control of their CPU load.

Moonify is a legitimate company with very enthusiastic people, we aim at forging long-term partnerships as well as building a living community.
The miners and the reward system are just the first building blocks of a larger ecosystem. We’re still in the early phase though.
We’ve been partially funded by private VC. Governmental infrastructure here in France also makes it possible for nascent businesses to get necessary support through project incubation, funding and deferred 0% loans.

An ICO is under discussion but we first saw the need to have a working product, far beyond simple storytelling like many ICOs out there.
It’s not the easiest way to do it, but that’s how we see things. We are always looking for passionate people who could help us out in the future.

Our official ANN will come at a later date, hopefully!
This is just an initial personal message Smiley

Check out moonify.io for more details about our project. We have many updates coming out in the following weeks so feel free to follow us on twitter @moonifyio to stay informed.
If you like our project and you would like to help us promote it, feel free to open an account https://moonify.io/ and use your referral link to earn 5% (XMR) from your affiliates. Essentially, we’re looking for adoption and visibility.
If you can provide any other kind of support or services please reply to this post with a very brief description of what you can offer.

We’re looking forward to developing our ecosystem with you.
Cheers
Jean

Hi, really cool idea and it makes a change from cryptojacking.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: how to manage losses? on: August 07, 2018, 10:25:09 AM
how do you manage stress if you loss biggest amount because the value of.your token.is hitting down ..? in your opinion how diversify your investment in other alts to cope up your losses?
thanks in.advance..

I heard the bes thing to do was to invest in an alt and then siphon off gains to a bigger coin like BTC or Eth or something like that. In terms of dealing with stress though, there is not too much you can do I'm afraid except set stoploss at which you will sell. No other remedy I think.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what if altcoin or bitcoin crash? on: August 07, 2018, 09:44:40 AM
What if altcoin/btc crash? Are there possible ways to get our money back?

Erm. No! If Bitcoin crashes we're done for. But we can't get our money back. But it won't crash though, too many people involved now.
