ELI5: Staking. I read that it is 20% per day but then people talk about having 2.5M EMB for weeks without getting a reward. 2.5M EMB seems like enough to deserve something.

China is attempt to launch an attack against BTC...

YOU BET YOU ARSE BTC has big things coming.. big things.  When China has to resort to this http://www.coindesk.com/china-moves-disrupt-access-major-bitcoin-websites/ kind of crap to fight BTC you know BTC is winning.

When the United States Airforce has to resort to this:

...kind of crap to fight Saddam Hussein you know that Saddam Hussein is winning!

It was not against saddam, it was against "terrorism". Did they kill terrorism?  No. Did they rob us from freedom? Yes.

Let's get this straight.  It was not against terrorism... it was for oil.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at $112! on: June 09, 2013, 02:07:36 AM
I think this is the last time that such kind of price movement happens due to ASIC manufacturer dumping pre-order bitcoin

Currently there is a huge demand for ASIC devices, therefore many previous bitcoin owners re-investing their bitcoin for ASIC devices, but ASIC chip manufacturer still do not accept bitcoin, so all these coins must be sold on exchange for dollar

But soon they will find out that ASIC devices are everywhere, these bitcoin investment will almost never ROI after skyrocketed difficulty, then in future they will not risk that much of bitcoin anymore

ASIC is the last step in hardware developement, from ASIC forward, there will never be a 40x increase in efficiency, any kind of future upgrading is more gradual

Quantum Computing is next.

5  Other / Off-topic / BTL FPGAs shipping to Canada on: June 21, 2012, 02:15:03 PM
Has anyone had any of BFL's equipment shipped to Canada on here?  It has been my experience that the most common way of shipping in the States in by UPS ground (which is probably the cheapest) but when that arrives at the border there are huge costs added which can be avoided if they are shipped by other means.

I am curious how anyone who had received equipment from them had it shipped and what it cost?  Is BFL willing to ship in other ways?  I have asked this question to them directly on their web page but I have not received an answer.

Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Can you be more specific please ?
What exactly is wrong on the stats page ? What is your login name ? (You can send it to me via PM or just post here a part of your bitcoin address).
May be you are refering to not seeing PPS rewards in the table ?

My apologies... I was out when I noticed the low payout and small amount of shares.  When I VPN'd into my machines from my phone everything seemed ok with my miners so I naturally thought maybe there was a reporting issue.  But since my post I have been getting my typical amount of shares.  I may have had connection issues before or something but the last three hours have been good.

The address I use for payout is 1zuxczb1csDEgCpb2jMxn1cCZswHh1rHa.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner but I just got home. Thanks for looking into it and great work on the pool considering everything that has been going on.

Is the statistics page not reporting correctly... And therefore my payout also reporting incorrectly?  The numbers make no sense that I see under my account.  My miners are working fine and I reset the share counts on the account page and it seems fine but the stats page definitely has issues for my account.

Thanks for the help... not sure what is different but I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, re-installed the drivers and now ccc reports them linked.

Wish I had a better explanation for those who run into this in the future but I do not.

Now to see how much overclocking I can do.

Thanks again.

It does say that one of the adapters is disabled.  I have my monitor plugged into the mini-displayport with the mini-displayport-dvi adapter and I have a dummy plug in the actual dvi adapter on the card.  I have moved the connection to my monitor around the four different mini-display ports but it remains disabled in ccc.

Thanks for the suggestion... I will try that tomorrow morning when I get a chance to work on it and report results for anyone with the same problem or just for interest sake.

The motherboard should be sufficient (MSI 890FXA-GD70) and I took the the other cards out to test it by itself just in case.

If this doesn't work I will move it to ubuntu and see if that solves the problem.

Any other tricks or tests are welcome as I will not be able to attack this problem until tomorrow and I might as well have a list of things to try.

Thanks again.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Only seeing one GPU on 6990. on: June 29, 2011, 03:24:49 PM
I have been reading the forum for some time and also have been mining for a while.  I have one rig with four 6870s and another with two 5830s.  I decided to add a 6990 to my machine (personal use machine not a mining rig) but when I installed it I only see one of the GPUs for mining.  I am running Win7 with the latest Catalyst drivers (11.6 I think) and using poclbm for mining.

Has anyone run into this before?  After searching online for answers I have only seen one post describing the same situation and they claimed that updated drivers fixed their issue.  I wouldn't have purchased a 6990 if I was building another rig but bang for buck since I had my existing system with an open PCI-E slot it was a no brainer but right now it is only performing 340MH/s (I haven't overclocked it yet since I need to get the other GPU working first) which isn't much better than my 5830's that overclocked are doing 300-310MH/s and they only cost $109 compared to the 6990 at $700.

I see both GPUs in AMD Overdrive but in poclbm there is only the one.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171055&Tpk=1200w

It is pricey but it is a great psu, quiet and has 8 six-pin pci-e power.  I currently have it in a rig running four 6870s.

You could also make a dummy plug if you did not want the second monitor on there.

http://www.geeks3d.com/20091230/vga-hack-how-to-make-a-vga-dummy-plug/

They are using 75ohm resistors but you can also use anything between 50-150ohms.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dummy Plugs? on: June 28, 2011, 06:09:34 PM
Crossfire is like SLI... if you have two monitors though, don't use crossfire.  Just plug one monitor into each and you do not need any dummy plugs.  The miners get better hash rates without crossfire.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dummy Plugs? on: June 28, 2011, 05:06:45 PM
Do you use one monitor or two?  If two, no need for dummy plug... if one than everything that I have read suggests to not use crossfire.  In this case you will need a dummy plug.  Dirt cheap and easy to make.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong...

I think what is happening is that Win7 can only see a max of four GPUs.  You will have to move to Linux which can see up to eight.  I think that you are having the same problem that I am in that the mining software is only using one GPU from two of your three cards.  I just posted a few minutes ago and I have only one 6990 in a Win7 install but can only see one GPU for mining purposes.  If you open AMD Overdrive how many GPUs do you see?  I can see both of mine there but it is poclbm that does not see two for me.

Regardless the max that you will get working under Win7 is four so you have to make the move to Linux or take one card out.

BTW that is a great mobo... I am using it in a rig with four 6870s.

Good luck and if you figure anything out under Win7 please post.  I will also let you know if I find an answer to my problem.

Don't bother with crossfire and put a dummy plug in one if you have a monitor in the other.  If you are just setting it up to run then throw a dummy plug in both.  I have a mining rig in my basement that has four cards in it and they all have dummy plugs.  I use VNC from my gaming machine if I need to configure something.  No need wasting a monitor on a mining rig.
