1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Alt chains and atomic transfers on: February 14, 2014, 12:18:40 AM
The system in this thread doesn't work at the moment due to transaction malleability.

Yeah, but the idea presented later (and here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Contracts#Example_5:_Trading_across_chains) is not compromised and is a great one.

Has anyone tried implementing it in any fashion?

bump!

Since broadcasting custom transactions is such a pain, maybe we can come up with a way to do all the custom transactions off-chain?
And then we broadcast the final standard transaction normally?

How can we be sure that funds haven't been spend? The way I see it, both Alice and Bob need to verify that transactions are buried under several blocks thus considered valid, and then Alice can proceed with revealing secret x and triggering both transactions.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Peercoin so low? on: February 04, 2014, 05:03:04 PM
Its a great coin, but there are lots of great coins long term...

Doge, Quark, Etherium, protoshares..

Why is Doge so special, besides it's meme coin?

Also, Quark is premined, it will crash as bot network owners start to cash out.

I cant download the file. Download link redirects me to http://localhost/download/wallet.dat

Yup sorry about that, it was an honest mistake. I have taken care of that. The wallet was there all the time, just that download link was not working.

Yes, I am keeping my wallet online for good. If it gets nicked, we are having serious security hole. Or it's just me Cheesy

How do you like my idea? If you like it, hit the tweet or google+ button to spread the idea around and prove our point: bitcoin can be safe technology.
Assuming the wallet's password is good, it seems like a good idea. Otherwise it will be very bad publicity Smiley

If someone steals my funds, I will publish my password, and anyone can verify that it is in fact password for that wallet. Then we will know how strong of a password is enough.

Thanks

I dunno how this will work , any proof that actually Money is in ?

A Screenshot would be nice.

Why would I screenshot anything, when I am letting anyone download my wallet.dat file to see for themselves (scan the file with antivirus, and then replace your wallet.dat file with mine, make sure that you backup your wallet) that money is in this particular wallet.

Basically, idea is this: if you encrypt your wallet anyone can have a copy of it, but cannot spend funds.

If someone manages to guess my password, they can steal my funds.

Thanks

Hello everybody,

I would like to introduce to you my website which serve the purpose of testing bitcoin wallet security: I have transferred my funds into bitcoin wallet and uploaded that wallet onto my website - http://www.stealmywallet.com to prove the point that although anyone can download the wallet and verify that funds are in there, hopefully no one can spend my coins. I have used offline computer to create new wallet and set up a password which is written down on a piece of paper.

How do you like my idea? If you like it, hit the tweet or google+ button to spread the idea around and prove our point: bitcoin can be safe technology.

Thanks

So far it's nothing. And when do start to accept it, the price will not react that much.

How is 10% pos minting going to influence price? It's a bit steep?
