1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First time scammed , very frustrated on: February 24, 2021, 03:31:57 AM
I was scammed many years ago back when bitcoin was $20. I needed groceries. My bitcoin was earned by doing some web work for someone and since I didn't have a job at the time I figured I could get a gift card off of this very website. I had received a gift card from him once so I trusted him and then the second time he gave me a used gift card number then disappeared. Now I think back about how that one $20 bitcoin is now worth 50 grand and I really hope his wallet is missing. I could have really used that money right now.

I was all excited because Electrum showed me I had 4.77... bitcoin and then I realized it displays mBTC and not BTC. *cries* My $100K turned into $100. I could have paid so many bills.
This worked rather well although importing the addresses only creates a read-only wallet. I was hoping to get a tree cutdown today ($2500.) It doesn't matter. The value of my wallet is only $100.

Thanks for the help.

I'm confused, you still have about four years to go for what? To update the whole blockchain? That will cost you extra money for data, it's better to import your private key into Electrum wallet and see if it shows up, it should though since Electrum don't need to update any blockchain data, it's always up to date

Yes, to update the whole blockchain. I don't have the receive numbers written down and I was never given a private key. I remember at one time Bitcoin Core asked me to create a private key but it was not a 12 word key and I created it, it was not given to me. This was 10 years ago. Maybe the core wallet was different back then.

So if this doesn't work, I can enter the receive numbers into my new wallet? Because I can see them on the Core wallet as the years go by. I'm not really worried about data or diskspace on that machine. Sorry, this is all new to me. I have to go back to a point in time where I left off and learn what has happened since I stopped using it I suppose. Thank you Smiley

A couple of people suggested I create a website and that is exactly how I had it set up. The receive address was on my website not my facebook personal or biz page. I posted the link from my website to my facebook page.  I'm assuming that someone probably clicked on the link from my facebook page and reported the post with the link unless they have bots watching the content of pages which I doubt. Right now I have the donation page spun off a few links deep off a secondary domain of mine. Hopefully, that will work instead.

I have an old bitcoin wallet from 2011ish that I'm running right now with bitcoin core. It seems to be working so far but I still have about 4 years to go. Unfortunately, I probably only have about $100 USD on it. I have a bitcoin app wallet that I'm using. I'm wondering if I should just send the funds to the address on this app or just keep the old wallet how it is and pray I can open it in 10 years. Who knows, maybe it will be $1000 for my tiny amount. Thanks.

The jerk from this forum who sent me a fake gift card number in trade for 1 btc back when it was worth about $20. Thanks, creeper! I really needed groceries then because I had been laid off of my job. Now I could really use 1 bitcoin to get a car and this would have been the perfect moment. I hope he enjoyed it in a bad way. I think I'll write a horror story about him.

I set up a bitcoin donation post for my horror story podcast and website then FB went off the deepened and told me they didn't support bitcoin and I wouldn't be able to advertise wth them if I had it on there so I removed it for now. Is this really a thing? They go as far as to scour your website and pick bitcoin of all things to complain about?
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: So many online stores doing dropshipping from China, is quality sacrificed? on: September 25, 2018, 01:40:32 AM
I've been reading about dropshipping from reddit and I realized just how saturated and how may online stores are doing dropshipping from China. That said, do you feel like the quality of the products are being sacrificed because of this?
Also, will there be a way for AI tech to like filter real reviews from fake ones? Of course, not everything from China is of low quality, but it would be great if there will be a way to get real reviews from real people filtered via AI or some other tech that could do this.

I bought this "cardigan" off of amazon for a normal price. It looked nice in the picture. When I got it, it was an ugly, over-sized, tunic looking thing that was made out of cheap, flimsy business shirt fabric and had the buttons sewn down the front as if it was supposed to open but didn't. It was absolutely hideous. It was also shipped from China. They sell cubic zirconia rings that are marked S925 and you know they aren't. I don't even think I'm going to buy from amazon any longer. You can't tell where you junk comes from. Sadly, many of these companies let you slap a brand name on them and pretend like you are the owner. That is why you see 5 different items with different brands and what they all are are cheap knock-offs with a "drop ship biz" name on them. Save your money. Shop local and support your local people if possible.
10  Other / Off-topic / Do you have scary stories regarding bitcoin? on: September 24, 2018, 08:53:10 PM
I have a scary story podcast where I tell stories for about an hour and then I let people call in their own scary stories for the next hour. I want to do a night on scary bitcoin stories that might involve the dark web, deep web, personal adventures, ghosts, etc. If you are interested, please send me a PM and I'll give you the website info. I'm not sure I'm allowed to here.

I also take bitcoin donations and I might even put a bitcoin faucet on the site so people can listen and earn. Please let me know if you are interested in that as well. My only concern is that people might leave the pages up without listening to the stories or reading which wouldn't help me at all.

Thanks!
