Is this part of the changing to marketing campaign for monero? The only way monero will come close anytime soon is if bitcoin takes a huge jump soon..
A huge BTC jump could take XMR anywhere, including the moon. For a measly $20, it would only take a handful whale pod of Ristos. Or one tweet from Szabo/Byrne/Trump, or one BTC core dev switching camps, etc. That's because not many hloders plan to sell much XMR at $20. You'll see some one-time cost covering and diversification at silver parity, but we're not selling our moontrain tickets that cheaply.  I agree with you, iCEBREAKER. Selling Monero for 20 usd is simply retarded unless you have a need for emergency cash. When Monero hits 20 usd, it might be 100 usd a few weeks from that. Monero is indeed the currency that makes the generation 2 rich (early bitcoiners being the 1st generation). why do you say this? because you want it to be true? |

I think the reply i would hope to get off of the last comment i made is whether or not scammy clones affect legit coins or not. Some people may think NO they don't have any real tangible effect and i of course do think so and in a few ways.. At the very minimum the legit coin devs will have no choice but try and vie for attention in the ANN forum section with clones being posted non stop pushing their honest coin to page 40 or what ever. See what i am saying ? and i think it goes WAY beyond that to.. Rather than having new people across the world exposed to Crypto via Doge coin's greedy much profit meme.jpgs and moronic spam comments, the new people out there could be drawn in and exposed to a currency that is taken with a degree of seriousness and honesty. Are we attracting the right kind of people ? Ones that will work on the code to make it better or bring a level of professionalism or at least maturity to the scene ? Ltc will be on Coinbase , he's just saying that not to pump Litecoin.
Of course they will add litecoin, but not in near future as i said above. You should expect Bitstamp is next major exchange to add litecoin. Coinbase will add Litecoin sometime in 2014. prove it. |

The big problem with GPU-mined coins is the number of GPUs controlled by people susceptible to memes.
Even litecoin's hashing-power was exceeded by some stupid meme out of the blue.
Luckily for litecoin, that particular meme happened to say "lets be yet another scamcoin!" instead of "lets trash all the scrypt blockchains!" but the next meme might not be so gentle...

There were less than 30 alternate coins in December and now there's over 200 and the list keeps adding.
so,dont use them then. Problem solved. that does not solve anything there is still a wide range of negative effects.. scam coins make us all look bad and it makes bitcoin itself look bad and worth less too i think. would you say that about elderly people being scammed ? they are vulnerable.. do you just say well fuck em who cares about em ? as long as I MAKE MONEY i don't give a fuck who gets scammer or ripped off and people who scam the elderly often get caught and face criminal punishment so why shouldn't coin scammers ? try having a shred of decency maybe and think of others and not just your own selfish greed . So killing coins and leaving a bunch of people with coins that are worth nothing is better than letting people figure out what to invest on their own?
