Anyone?  Cmon.  I can not be the only one.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do I have to restart my rig twice? on: March 26, 2014, 07:55:44 PM
maybe you have something wrong with it? i have never heard of such a thing?
I've built 4 rigs.  Every one has the same problem.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do I have to restart my rig twice? on: March 26, 2014, 07:52:50 PM
Do you have enough ram? I've seen rigs not working at their full potential when the ram is not sufficient.
8 GB
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Why do I have to restart my rig twice? on: March 26, 2014, 03:12:41 PM
When I have a problem, like when I'm trying to overclock and one of my GPUs restarts because I pushed it too hard, if I just restart the rig and run my mining software (cgminer), the hash rate is less than half of what it should be.  If I restart the rig again the hash rate returns back to normal.

What's going on?  Why do I have to restart twice?

It's also a problem when the system freezes or when the system restarts on its own, which happens while I'm "dialing in" the settings.  I want to have CGWatcher restart the rig when there are problems but it seems very "hacky" to have it just restart the system twice because of a low hashrate.  And it would be a waste of time to get CGWatcher to run, check the hash rate, then decide it needs to restart the system.

Clearly something isn't loading up properly.  Anyone know what it is and can I get it to load properly the first time or restart it with a batch file or something?  Or can I at least check to see if it's loaded when the system starts up and then restart the system if it hasn't loaded up correctly?

Don't any of you have this problem too?  I noticed it on my first mining rig and every other mining rig I've built so far has had the same issue.

I'm using Windows 8.1.  I'm assuming Linux wouldn't have these problems but I'm not quite ready to sail those waters yet.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Afterburner Voltage Setting changes by one notch when I hit apply on: March 26, 2014, 02:47:57 PM
Hi,

I'm trying to undervolt using Afterburner but when I select a setting (EG: -19mV), then hit apply, Afterburner seems to apply the settings one notch lower (EG: -12mV).  This happens with every one of the 4 mining rigs I've built, so I'm thinking surely every person who uses Afterburner to undervolt has to deal with the same problem.

Anyone else notice this?
What are you doing to deal with it?

This "bug" (If that's what it is) prevents me from running afterburner as it is designed (with "apply overclocking at system startup" checked) because every time it applies the overclocking it will notch the voltage back up and after a few restarts the voltage will be right back where I started... with no undervolt.

My solution so far was to write a autohotkey script to detect the afterburner window and to send a keyboard shortcut to apply a saved profile (which is one "notch" higher than the one I want to run at).  But that seems like a very "hacky" way of solving a problem that shouldn't exist.  Surely other miners don't resort to strategies like this, especially when they want to run programs like CGWatcher.

What do you guys do?  Or better yet, how do you prevent this problem in the first place?

BTW: I'm using the latest beta version and my cards are not voltage locked.

I think the price for GPUC should remain fairly stable,  once the store opens up and we have some idea about how many GPUC it will cost to get one GPU.   I think the GPUC should be in some way self-correcting because anyone who buys GPUC to get a GPU is going to check it against the value of BTC and their national currency. The volatility might be more connected to BTC volatility than manipulation of the GPUC market.

The only way I see extreme volatility is if there's a lot of dumping all at once or if the GPUC store is the only place where you can find, for example, 290x GPUs.

Honestly, if you believe anyone mines that coin to buy GPUs you are just naive.

Who mines it is planning to dump it as soon as the price is profitable enough. Some of the miners bet on people that are expected buy this coin to get GPUs, but really look at it: You get GPUs quicker and cheaper on big markets than here - especially outside of north america. As said before, the whole model is a flaw, and if the creators are aware of the flaw instead of being totally naive, a scam.
You are forgetting one important factor: Good GPUs are freaking HARD to find.  And if you find them they are extremely expensive.  You might have some inside information or some contact that you can use to get GPUs at a reasonable price, but the average joe doesn't.  This gives us one more method to obtain the GPUs we want.

Does anyone know how many BTC was invested in the IPO?  325,000,000 GPUC is going to be paid to the IPO so that should tell us about the value the CEO thinks GPUC should be.  And it should give a rough estimate as to the cost of a GPU.  Right now, one 290 at $525 (GPUC store price) is .86BTC.

this is by far the most unrewarding coin i've ever mined.
since the 2600 block i've only got 140 unconfirmed coins.

the failed launches, people having payout issues, the switch to -n after taking ipo money, no refund for the ipo, IPO coins haven't been paid..
completely frustrated with gpucoin!

The payout issues is dedicated to some pools, not the coin. The IPO-Investors HAD the chance to refund their money in BTC, but only a few took the chance. What is your problem? You can change to any coin you want, if you dislike GPU-Coin...

The failed launches is past, the Launch yesterday was smooth and good...

Your only frustratet because you got a (small) bad GPU to mine i think...
Agreed.  Yesterday's launch was uber smooth.  Best launch I've been a part of.  I've mined over 4000 GPUC with another 1000GPUC unconfirmed.

I'm very excited about this coin.  I hope the store will sell the new 290x Lightning cards when they are available.

is this coin a bust?
0.832399 confirmed
and since 2600 block i havent got a single coin.. not even a fraction of a coin.
wtf?!?

What pool?  I'm at Confirmed 2,252.28716098
Unconfirmed   1,276.76473175 at dedicated.

AVOID gpu.suprnova.cc FOLKS

Payouts are disabled, and they are keeping the site running, fooling those that assume that it's up and running. It is NOT. It's a SCAM pool. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Shoot.  They are my failover pool.

Anyone on here tell me what I should be getting for R9 290 and suggest TC, intensity and worksize setings?

Thought Id jump on this launch late - having stressed out and spat my dummy last time gpu coin launched

Cheers!!!!
I don't remember where I saw this but 27,400 TC and I=19 is working like a champ for me.  Yes, Intensity 19.  My 290xs are set to Intensity 21.  Giving me a hash rate of about 450kh per card.  I haven't been able to go much higher.  No HW errors and my rejects are like zero.

I think I saw this too, but I cant go that high on TC.

hmmmmmm......
Try lowering your Intensity.  Most people it seems are using I=13.

How many WU are you getting?
About 400 to 420 per card.

Oh wait.  My 290(no x) is making about 350 WU.

EDIT.  Wait again.  My I was at 18.  I increased it to 19 and now my WU is at 410 for my 290.  My 290xs are about WU 450.

Is that good?

OK heres my conf,

{
"pools" : [
   {

   }
],
"intensity" : "20",
"worksize" : "512",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "20480",
"expiry" : "30",
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"scan-time" : "1"
}

I cant push TC higher that 25600 but I may be able to get close.... This scrypt - n is a bit of a lark!
Make Worksize = 256 and try to raise your TC.

why is everyone all exited this is not even worth power costs.............. LOL 0.00000450 $ WTF LOL IT'S ALREADY WORTH LIKE 10 SATOSHI........

You do realize that that price is .09BTC per block right? comic troll. lol

waltsmith
where is that price?
0.00000450 BTC x 20,000 GPUC/Block = 0.09BTC.

What do you mean?  I just did a quick calculation based on the current market price and the number of GPUC I'm making per hour.   I'm making at least $2/hr and my mining operation costs me about $5 a day.  So I'm making $43 a day.
This is currently the most profitable coin to mine right now and the price should go up, especially when the store opens and the GPUs everyone wants to buy are no where to be found anywhere else.

We all have BF4 vouchers. LOL

If you want to be in the big boy games, you play hard. You reinvest your coins and get more equipment. I started out with a GPU which mined at 40kh/s, and now I have a small growing farm.
And that is PRECISELY what this coin is supposed to help with!! Now is your chance to turn your one GPU into a farm!!

The hardest thing about mining is obtaining GPUs, and that is what this coin was designed to fix.  It's the reason I was excited about it anyway.
