Great looking game, played a dime, I love the low minimum bet, let me play for as long as I wanted!
Wish the ready button was working though.

there are quite a few people making the same claim. Guess its time to figure out a more robust backup system
Thanks for letting me know.

point of reference, my backups of the pyramid game i ran are still fine and work if i load them up. I should probably have tested the backup of my primary wallet file.
eitherway I just needed to vent, I've had a shitty couple of days.

moved onto mybitcoin now, I will probably just make a habbit of exchanging them for money sooner, cant really explain why it torched my wallet.dat like this. Unfourtunate yes, all i wanted to do is get people to learn from my mistake.

|
|
If i had made a more recent backup, like yesterday i wouldve been fine. I think my backup is not working because I sent some bitcoins to an exchange, then withdrew them again when the price went back down.
SSD.

My guess is that it ran out of hdd space, but the file is only 30kb. my backup is 120kb, but i suspect its out of date, i was only doing weekly backups. it doesnt load anything on my 3 machines when i try to use it.

I just felt I should post this so others can heed my warning, BACKUP your wallet.dat, frequently.
I just lost over 300$ worth of bitcoins because my computer froze and the wallet.dat is now 90% missing. My backups wouldnt load either. I've tried the private key recovery tools and they dont find anything. Basically just please look after your wallet.dat.
Please, heed the warning, This really screwed me big time, this week my wife lost her job, I was planning to cash these out to pay some bills.
TL;DR; backup your fucking wallet.dat

We both obviously blew it out of proportion. regardless, I would love everyone to check the block explorer, and let the masses decide.
the player in question had address 16cr... in the first and last round.
There is also question of the last round of all three of the first transactions being me, even though ones51 has claimed ownership of the first deposit of round #3 in the spreadsheet chat, I'm sure if asked he would verify this.
All i'm looking for is to clear my name, I find the guilty until proven innocent around here to be kind of alarming, and sort of the anti-thesis of freedom that bitcoin and opensource stands for.
I'll request publicly that after round 1 closes in an hour (pending any new deposits) nobody send money to those addresses, as I will be closing the bitcoin client down, and archiving the wallet for 7 days, then destroying it.
This is for my own protection should any government people come looking as most of this stuff is fairly questionable legally.
Ops, or anyone else, please weigh in on this, I'll be here until this round ends and will be donating the proceeds to ilikeham as a show of good faith, dont have any other btc donate at the moment, my mining rig has about .02 on deepbit, since this difficulty jump ruined profitability for me, and I've stopped.
I am of the mind that btc is overvalued currently, so I've been selling it at virwox as soon as I get it, this is why I have no other btc to compensate him with. I'm trying to be as transparent as I can, and thank everyone for their support and time they take to investigate this disagreement.

Thnx anodyne, Ilikeham has responded and I'm trying to explain what hes seeing. Basically the 16cr address on round 1 & 3 indicates that its actually me playing, but I pointed out his address is on all 3 and looks very similar, if getting in a bit later each time.
There is also 14iRu6m5bcFhgXc4d1nLpTaC6xs5Xem9Qr which was in round 1 winning and 2 loosing and 1AdP1P4SP7du9zkLGTEk9XVYAWpEHi6qdo in round 1 twice, 1 winning 1 loosing so far.
I think this is just an unfortunate misunderstanding, that could have been handled a little more discretely.

This game will be ending shortly, and in an attempt to clear my name I've attached a zip with screenshots of my client for all 3 rounds. This thread will be locked upon completion of the game. for any future pyramid operator, I would strongly recommend running a new wallet.dat file for each round/game you run, otherwise your payouts from futuregames will come out of other rounds and confuse everyone. http://imgur.com/a/rwmhA#DyHWF*edit not a zip, apparantly cant do attachments, so its on imgur

web dev is all fairly easy and the 'api' to access the bitcoin client is very simple. I started working on a codebase to run a pyramid from it but i quit when i realized theres not enough money there.
had full access in php to all the functionality in bitcoind in about 20-30 minutes. rest of the work in the business logic.

it was a joke, if your honest then your all good, my situation is rediculous. guy doesnt get blockexplorer, calls me a scammer cause someone played in round #1 & 3 and the input address to round #1 shows as a previous address for the deposit in round #3.
this made me rage quit running any future games, or developing any online systems that will accept bitcoins. only real money, with chargeback support or a middleman for me, all this namecalling is idiotic.

@ones51 post in the scammers post thats stickied, even I'm in there for the last round you got paid on in my pool

depends exactly what you wanted to create, I would typically charge about 45-50$/hour on a consultancy gig, and a basic doubling scheme would probably only take a few hours to automate completely.
anything fancy would add to that of course. Currently I'm a sr applications developer with a very highly regarded HBSc, with about 6 years experience.
|
|
|
just wanted to add I'm not making any more of these, besides the obvious reasons of my rep being absolutely destroyed by ilikeham, I would be taking huge losses based on the cost of my time as it is.
anyone whos thinking about starting one of the schemes would be best advised to either automate it, or forget it.

ok, spoken with ilikeham. hes going to look at this tomorrow. I would like anyone with time to review the block explorer and comment.
|
|
|
And for the record I replied and never heard anything back until now. Amicable indeed.
|
|
|
once the other one ends send me an address I'll give you the profit from that pyramid, not much else I can do all my BTC is in virwox/deepbit and takes a while to withdraw.

oook.
The first address on the block explorer shows the address that sent it, the other addresses are where the btc came from before that. SO, basically from what i understand, im sure an op can explain better, this is basically showing someone who played the original round and this round.
But either way, the game is over we had a vote, i did everything I could to make everyone happy. I only ended up with a few bitcents from running these games, and there will not be any more from me, its a waste of time.
Sorry if you didnt win, but I have no way to identify people based on the BTC addresses. I had 5 deposits within 1 minute of the game starting, some people got lucky as it basically boiled down to that if your deposit got through the network quicker than everyone elses.
