1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: March 08, 2014, 05:35:00 PM
So I got myself a Radeon R9 280x Asus DCII Top and was expecting
1. Hashrates along the lines up to 400 kh/s (seen other people reach 400 with either DCII or Sapphire toxic)
2. That the card would be voltage unlocked

The card did 250 kh/s out of the box and voltage seems to be locked. Not the greatest start.

When I clock it down to 1000/1500 from default 1070/1600 it reaches 358 kh/s... which is also my record kh/s for the card.
Tried tc 8191,8192,8193 and 11200. Tried a few intensity settings with no luck.

Tried gpuspeeds down to 950 and up to 1200 and shitloads of settings inbetween. No significant increases whatsoever, just decreases. Tried memclock up to 1850 and down to 1250 only to settle at 1470.

OH, did I mention the card has hynix H5GQ2H24AFR memory modules, which means "the stilts" optimized bios is not going to help it either?

Voltage? I flashed a custom bios which would allow me to lower the voltage. Did nothing but freeze the card for me so I had to revert it. My gigabyte cards were also locked but I just flashed a custom bios and set the voltage to 1.1 in the config. Same thing did NOT work with the asus card.

Quite disappointed to say the least. Many people mention this card and the sapphire toxic as  the great 280 cards. My two other cards are Gigabytes, rev1 and they are fifty bucks cheaper and outperform it.

I realize different cards peak at different settings but I find it astonishing that a factory OC'ed card gains almost 50% more kh/s from getting downclocked to 1000/1500 from stock 1070/1600.

Anyone mining yacoin with gtx 660? Looking for .bat settings

Been searching and searching without finding so I guess I'll throw myself to the sharks and ask what has most likely already been asked:

Did anyone encounter microcoin.exe crash on the very first launch? I literally downloaded the wallet a few hours ago and followed the not so advance readme file. But when I try to launch either microcoin.exe or microcoin_old_port444.exe it just says "microcoin.exe has stopped working".

What to do?
Check can you start it without .conf file. Maybe you have something wrong there.
Fail type in conf file is most common reason for crash.

Tried to delete it, tried to delete entire folder, tried to uninstall some programs. I had the same problem with Yacoin, but I managed to solve it by downloading an old wallet of theirs, and run "yacoind.exe" (DOS server) which populated the folder in /appdata/ with wallet.dat etc. After that the new Yacoin wallet worked.

But Microcoin does not.

Here's from debug.log

Code:
microCoin version v1.1.1.0-gunit-beta (187)
Using OpenSSL version OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013
Startup time: 02/13/14 10:35:30

Default data directory C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin
Used data directory C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin
dbenv.open LogDir=C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin\database ErrorFile=C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin\db.log
Bound to [::]:3232
Bound to 0.0.0.0:3232
Loading block index...

And crashmessage from both yacoin and microcoin

Could be a problem with DEP.

try Start --> Run --> CMD (as admin) and enter:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

Reboot the PC an test again.

Thanks for the tip, didn't work though.

Is it possible to run the wallet on a separate computer and mine on my main?

So my troubles with Microcoin wallet persists and now also includes Yacoin wallet. They crash before they start. Quark and Maxcoin wallets seems to work though.

a corrupted block chain or database in the wallet's data directory can do that. Have you tried deleting everything besides wallet.dat in the %APPDATA%\MicroCoin folder?

Christian

Yeah, tried this and it doesn't work. It doesn't even create a wallet.dat in the first place because of the crash.

Managed to get Yacoin working by downloading an old wallet and running the dos version of the wallet. That way it populated the /appdata/roaming/yacoin folder with wallet and everything and after that I could run the main .exe file. But now that doesnt' work either. DoS server still runs but I get 100% boo's and 0% yay with that one.

Must be related to something I have installed. Like Microsoft c++ redist, .net framework or some stuff.

I know this doesn't belong here but I really have to ask: Did anyone else encounter crashes with microcoin.exe? When I launch the darn file I get to see the logo for 2 seconds then it says "Microcoin.exe has stopped working". Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of help to find by googling it either. It is as if there's some files missing but I can't figure out which ones, and the microcoin site isn't really helping.

Are you guys mining Microcoin with cudaminer? If so, could anyone link their .cmd settings?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 12, 2014, 05:05:10 PM
This may be a weird question but I'm not entirely familiar with the mining process. Would a dual GPU GFX perform better than a single GPU which is about as fast as the dual one?

For example Radeon 7990 vs R9 290X
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 12, 2014, 10:40:45 AM
Do all those GPUS pay for themselves without having a hyped coin like MaxCoin to mine?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 12, 2014, 09:17:18 AM

So what is everyone mining right now?

I am mining some MicroCoin at the moment because I find the coin has potential.

A newly setup rig for a friend is test-mining Yacoin on some low end cards until the six GTX 660Ti cards arrive.

Christian

I'm still mining max in a pool but I'm putting an end to that after work. I'm getting like 2 max in 20 hours.

I have an ever growing list of coins to keep an eye on. I guess I'll add MicroCoin and Yacoin to that!

auroracoin
Kittehcoin
Ultracoin
Stacycoin
Riecoin

Kittehcoin, Utracoin and Riecoin are released as far as I know. Do anyone know if they are profitable?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 11, 2014, 02:03:47 PM
What kind of hashrates are Radeon cards getting? Maybe it's worth buying an ATI card so I have both nVidia and ATI accessible. Could be useful for Stacycoin and more!
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 09, 2014, 03:00:30 PM
2010 nearly downloaded, im following your guide ManIkWeet

i think for my next release im going to have 2 machines on standby with windows and linux for the wallets
the linux wallet destroyed my install and cost me stupid amounts of coins in the process

Same! I spent the first 3-4 hours trying to get that stuff going, and when I finally managed to CPU mine I got wind of this thread lol
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 09, 2014, 08:15:29 AM
Been mining smalltimeminer during the night and managed to get like 2 max or so. All in all I got 10 max in like 15 hours of mining. I should do the math but at the current prices I very much doubt it's worth it when the GPU is running at 95% load.

Difficulty at 40 000....
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 08, 2014, 05:24:10 PM
So what pool are you people mining? Smalltimeminer is weird..  I get alot of stratum detected new block, then no hashing no nothing for 10 seconds, and then I get a few yay.

Max1.lgh I can't even connect to
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 08, 2014, 03:57:47 PM
I'm getting alot of "stratum detected new block" rather than actual hashing over at smalltimeminer.

Why is that?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: February 07, 2014, 10:31:18 PM
So I'm finally done reading all 279 pages. Thanks a ton for all the informative posts in here.

I'm also now connected to that dwarfpool thingy and getting "yay" all the time.

Two questions:
1) When I go from solo to pool mining, do I have to change anything in the maxcoin.conf file or are the commands given to cudaminer enough?
2) When solomining you use a different username compared to pools which seem to be using the wallet adress. Are both these usernames stored in the same wallet.dat or do you have to switch between different wallet.dat when you go from pool to solo or vice versa?

When you are poolmining you don't have to worry about what's in the conf file of the wallet at all.

Oh okay. I actually changed some stuff in the conf file because I wasn't able to connect. I now realize that was because of the ddos attacks against said pool.

So, in essence I can change everything back which should speed up swapping between solo and pool mining.

Thanks a ton.
