1  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sato-Dice.com : Play or Invest : 1% House Edge : Free Bitcoin Bonus: Jackpot : A on: July 10, 2014, 05:15:24 PM
It's a pity the site is down. I'm not interested in playing/investing/buying, but in the security aspects.

As far as I remember the provably fair algorithm to generate random rolls was exploitable. I even did proof of concept OpenCL brute-forcer, but can't confirm the idea now. Looks like OP won't answer any questions, but would be great to hear if there were any attacks utilising the flaw...

Several sites suffered recently from different kinds of errors in their algorithms; if confirmed, this one would have joined the collection.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: DogeDice.me - Invest in 1% House Edge Biggest Dogecoin Dice Site on: July 10, 2014, 08:09:39 AM
Can you reveal the details of attacks on previous flawed version of provably fair algorithm?
Maybe a public statement similar to the one satoshicarnival did: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=619499.msg7551497#msg7551497 ?
Thanks.

We prefer not to disclose any details regarding internal functionality or additional security checks in public. Rest assured nothing like that will ever happen again.

I understand, it's your decision. But we also speak about not internal functionality, quite the opposite - external provably fair algorithm. After all, the formula is written in your 'help' section. Right now you list some bets in 'best' tab, and not all of them pass the verification. If someone (player, investor) decides to check them, what should he think about this?

How will you deal with this minor issue?
  • do nothing, wait for 'better' bets to shift the old ones out;
  • remove old bets from the tab;
  • remove the tab altogether;
  • state in the help 'for bets with ID > XXXXX the formula is ....'   but what about the previous formula?

BTW, what are the statuses of other *dice.me games. Last time I checked: one was offline, the other dead quiet.
Thanks!

4  Economy / Gambling / Re: CoinRoyale.com [BEST PLACE TO PLAY DICE] Provably Fair • 1 Million Hands Played! on: July 08, 2014, 08:01:32 AM
Please explain provably fair system on dice example.
Other games have 'verify hand' button in 'provably fair' popup window, dice does not.
What is 'Initial Shuffle' in case of dice.
Thank you!

The winning address is known by only one person (wo is not me), he has it on an A4 paper in a closed envelope, more proof there isn't. I can share a photo of the paper after each round.

And where is the promised photo?  Wink

Leon, will it ever be back online, or it's over?
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: █ WheelOfSatoshi.com - New Game Release! Grab a chance to win 47 times your bet! on: June 03, 2014, 04:32:59 PM
I thought Provably fair is a 1% house edge?

Being Provably Fair is a myth. But 1% is common in 'provably fairs'.
But I do agree 6% is a terrible edge.

Being provably fair is a math and has nothing to do with house edge.
It is better to have 6% in provably fair, trusted and respected casino than 0.99% in untrustworthy one.
8  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Bitcoinsfreak.com] Monthly lottery on: June 02, 2014, 12:05:35 PM
There are 3 topics here:
  • rules - what if everyone just sends a minimal amount to each of 30 addresses. They will simply split the jackpot, the lottery becomes a giveaway.
  • provably fair - photo is not a proof. Randomly select a winning address right now and post here the hash sha256(address||secret), when the round ends post the secret.
  • trust - this one is difficult...

I also was trying (kind of experiment) to host a lottery. Rules and provably fair were not a problem.
But the trust... Yes, there could have been winners and losers, but even with +EV (because of 'jackpot') there were not many participants.
Maybe the big prize can solve trust concerns, I can't yet afford 5 BTC giveaway.  Smiley

Here we have a clear win scenario. Doesn't matter which address will win.
But for those who want to test their luck just post the hash as a fairness proof.
Then we'll see how trust and 5 BTC correlate.

Good luck!  Smiley

Just checked your raffle isn't it  bit small to be worth trying?

Yes, it just rolls over what remains from the previous round. It's automated, so I just left it running as is…
Even when it was worth trying, not many decided to actually try - check the rounds archive.
10  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 15, 2014, 04:15:11 AM
Hahaha bars ! Good excuse ffrost got scammed stay away from this site folks !

Stop, please. That's not an excuse, that's the rules. Everyone understands except you.
Chances for profit were 6/16. Just no luck.

Again, don't make such statements if you don't have proof.
11  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 14, 2014, 08:37:42 PM
Wait I got 4 matches right?

Wrong. Notice the vertical bar. 0.06 ticket buys first 6 pairs. They have no matches. You've got zero.
12  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 14, 2014, 05:50:13 PM
Well spent all day gambling to get that 0.06. Now I'm broke oh well gambling for you I guess   Grin

Well, that's gambling…

0.37BTC bet on this ticket would have got 4 matches -> 0.6BTC payout, 0.23BTC profit.

This is why there is mini version of the lotto, single pair costs 0.001BTC - ten times less than in regular version.

Looks like u got scammed !

Why? Would like to hear comment from the player.
13  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 14, 2014, 05:04:36 AM
Sent 0.06BTC and got a match, too bad it was just a demo play as it was my first deposit and so I did not get the 0.15BTC Tongue

Well, there is nothing magical in 0.06 BTC ticket amount.
In your demo play case:

Optimal (max profit) amount was 0.54 BTC -> 5 matches, 0.75 BTC payout, 0.21 BTC profit.

For the next ticket maximum ROI was for 0.11 BTC amount -> 3 matches, 0.45 BTC payout, 0.34 BTC profit.

PS: free 0.01 BTC ticket: txid=974b0d8eb737d80397299bc84225d756550e7b10d1425fad8137703113fab6db

I deposited 0.01 in the lottery.

And that's your demo play result:

No matches for 0.01 BTC ticket.
Optimal bet would have been 0.06 BTC -> single match, 0.15 BTC payout, 0.09 BTC profit.
Your 0.01 BTC is now in your balance.

BTW, deposit address changes after every game, but it is possible to reuse previous ones.

Here's your 0.01 BTC free ticket: txid=0b6b6d1d63eeeda178ebae1a10e2a43f3b429c1bb95b3c99a790e1614b31951b

Round updates:
  • approx. 150 blocks till drawing, which will occur on BTC block #300500 (~1 day left);
  • 5 tickets sold;
  • 0.0717372 BTC prize pool.

https://crackthewallet.org/btc/raffle/
Tickets start at 0.001 BTC

Simple math shows that this is actually a +EV game.
Say there are 6 tickets, single ticket has 1/6 chance to win 1st place (50% of prize pot), 1/6 for 2nd place (20%), 1/6 for 3rd place (10%) and 3/6 for loss.
Even at 100 tickets it is +EV. Because prize pot is progressively increased with each sold ticket.
You can also increase you win chances by buying more nonces.

Don't miss the chance, join the raffle!
It is a +EV game, so how are you, the site owner, make money from these raffles? Seems more like you are giving money away from the large prize pool compared to the ticket entries...  Undecided

You are correct, I do not have profit. Just wanted to create this kind of game, as an experiment, for fun. I can afford to spend some BTC on this.
Also thought that +EV would attract rational gamblers. Mistake. Just look at all these ponzis…

Now that is a Longtime I thought 24 hrs was. Only got bitcoin but wanna play the raffle  Huh

Then consider BTC lotteries. I decided not to call them "instant" (like LTC versions), because BTC confirmation times can be "very not instant".
These lotteries results become available as soon as your transaction gets the 1st confirmation.
And of course they are provably fair - they use block's Merkle root hash, which is unknown until the block is generated.
https://crackthewallet.org/btc/

Tickets are 0.01-0.64 BTC and 0.001-0.064 BTC in mini version. 1st ticket is demo play: try, see results, withdraw back.
18  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 09, 2014, 08:32:19 AM
I'm deciding whether to play the raffle or the lottery. The raffle seems a bit long why changed to 100 blocks?

You mean 1000 blocks. Because daily rounds were not getting many players. Current round will end in approx. 4.5 days, on block #300500.
The 5th DOGE round is going to end soon, tickets start at 10 DOGE - you may try this (https://crackthewallet.org/doge/raffle/)
DOGE blocks have period of 1 minute.
19  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 09, 2014, 06:11:38 AM
Is the lottery offer still on?

Yes, be the first and share your results  Smiley
20  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] CrackTheWallet - BTC/LTC/DOGE Progressive Raffles on: May 08, 2014, 07:24:57 PM
The 4th and 5th rounds results:
  • round 4: 6 tickets, 0.08343 BTC prize pot, payouts: 0.041715, 0.016686 and 0.008343 BTC;
  • round 5: 6 tickets, 0.073686 BTC prize pot, payouts: 0.036843, 0.0147372 and 0.0073686 BTC.

2-3 people actually competing between each other for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Next round is running now, it is set for 1000 blocks (approx. 7 days), drawing will occur on block #300500.
Prize pool is 0.0717372 BTC now, there are 5 tickets now.

Join the game, odds are good for 0.001 BTC tickets.
