1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: August 22, 2019, 10:27:36 AM
the hash rate dropped considerately and most of the times I enjoy that as I get more with my small little rig but I saw you guys have disappeared from whattomine as well.

any plans in convincing people to come back and market it better than just a statement?

the worry, for me, is that it will slowly die

any takes on it?

Hey AlecMe. Thanks for sharing your concern. First thing I'll do is remind you that per the statement we're releasing two updates in response to the recent event. Once we have both out we can get trading operational again, and work with the the various parties to get everything back on track. We're already in contact with most of these parties, so it shouldn't take a long time. Rest assured we're still fully committed to Veil.

As for whattomine I'll check with the team and see if we're already in contact with them. If not, I'll make sure we reach out.

Cheers!

UPDATE so whattomine is not currently listing Veil due to trade inactivity meaning they cannot properly source data. It should be restored along with everything else in the near future as mentioned above.

As Dango mentioned earlier, the price may appear skewed at this time. With exchanges not trading, the set of data being drawn from to calculate the price is vastly diminished.

I have one problem when the electricity energy goes out. I made it the computer to turn on itself. After booting up the system (when the electricity energy comes on) Veil wallet starts and stops. I think this is because the router has not yet established an internet connection. If after re-establishing the internet connection I restart Veil wallet then it works fine. However, I cannot constantly monitor my computer. How do I solve this problem with Veil wallet ?

Hey Lucky - Luciano. That sounds like something you could probably solve through your OS.

We're working on exchanges daily. Some take longer. Some have requirements we need to meet. We certainly welcome recommendations, and you're also welcome to reach out to your favourite exchanges to ask them to list Veil, as community support will surely help sway them.

We often can't talk about exchange deals until Veil is listed and we can announce, but we'll continue keeping you all informed as soon as we're able.
Cheers!

Hi,

I found this exchange with VEIL listed on it....

https://wadax.io/trade/VEILBTC

Anyone seen or used this one before?

Kind Regards,

Klaasje

Thanks for sharing Klaasje.

It's the first I've heard of it, and appreciate the heads up.

Cheers!

Hey guys,
Keep in mind there are people staking with many thousands of coins at this point. Staking with several hundred may take some time.

If you're having problems, or would like to engage with staff members, submitting a help ticket or jumping on Discord would be the better bet for you.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: January 26, 2019, 01:55:49 PM
Thanks for the positive comments guys. For the time being only exchanges that have chosen to add Veil of their own accord are trading. We'll have more info on exchange listings in the not-too-distant future. You can always hop onto the Discord server ( https://discord.gg/Ywyb9hs ) to keep up-to-date with trading locations and conversations in the mean time.

i restored wallet from seed, all coins gone  Undecided

They shouldn't be gone - simply not yet listed in your wallet. They should appear with a rescanblockchain command in console, but if not, feel free to hop onto the Discord and someone can walk you through restoring them.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: January 10, 2019, 02:35:14 AM
this coin is a scam.

I just love Newbie members drawing advanced conclusions like this Smiley

I bet he is not a newbie as you 'imagined' and I am pretty sure that he is the miner or someone who lost their money because of the problem that Veil faces right now.
not surprising though.
calling this, that and everything else as a scam because they are 'losing' it. While the project itself already tried their best to fix this up.
(also, seems like he loves to spread hate about Veil project. Because most of his post was posted in this thread, and all of them were talking shit about this project).

A scam would require the Veil team asking for your money for something and not delivering in return. We've not asked anyone for a single sat/cent—that's what the budget is for. There are always risks mining a new coin, and the decision to do so or not lies solely with the individual, so please do your own research, choose pools wisely, and verify the people you're speaking with before giving any potentially sensitive info (the team won't ask for such in any case).

I've not yet come across a single instance of people losing their money if following proper procedure [ie. backing up their wallet and seed, and not buying or selling wallet.dat files (leaving themselves open to being scammed)]. Yes, zerocoins have needed recovering after not being displayed in-wallet frequently, but there are commands to reacquire those. And yes, some people have forked themselves by not updating properly and lost mining/staking rewards, but those were never theirs to lose in the first place.

The launch has been bumpy, certainly, with the majority of problems being an obvious lack of GUI polish. As QA guy, I'm not proud of the state the wallet went out in and personally would have loved more time to refine it. However, the decision was made to focus on making the coin mineable and to avoid further delays. I hope you all can appreciate that efforts are underway around the clock to get the wallet to the standards everyone expects, and deliver upon everything we've stated in our objectives and more. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Failed to update your account: Please use an address generated by the getnewbasecoinaddress command of the wallet

whats this i cant withdraw coins from suprnova to wallet

The following is from another member:

Open your wallet
Go to settings (you find in the bar at the right)
Open console
Type/paste: getnewbasecoinaddress
Press enter
Result: u will get an ''bv'' address, starting with bv.

Pretty much perfect. Console is found in 'Advanced Options' within Settings. It's the second tab at the top.

Thanks for helping others out DarkInventory777 and Marvell2. We appreciate it.

Maybe in 4 hours?

Still no news yet

We're still working hard to get everything nailed down. Jan 1st US West Coast time is still the target, but beyond that we can't give a specific hour. There are still bug-fix commits to be made, testing of those commits to ensure no unforeseen side-effects, and then a Gitian build for the release version. Putting a time on that will potentially still lead to disappointment, because even if we find nothing wrong, it's still a matter of build-times. The alternative is that we push back the release and have everything ready and on standby to just 'push the button', but as people want launch today, we're making that our goal.

You'll hear more as soon as we know more in concrete terms via official channels. Thanks for your continued patience and understanding.

One newb question,
X16RT algo is not listed in nicehash/hashtap.
could anyone let know how to rent hash or what to do when this algo is not listed in popular hash rental sites.
(For me mining from home is not possible now Sad ).

Hop onto the Discord https://discord.gg/Ywyb9hs and have a chat. Much easier for someone to field questions on this there.

I wish all you here a happy new year.
For the project, I wish that the launch day will be implemented as soon as possible next year, when mining tools are available for both AMD and NVIDIA in order to have a truly fair launch.

Happy New Year!

As we've opened testing to public, we're getting a lot of feedback on bugs for various OS/system configurations—we only have what hardware is available to us plus virtual machines, so this kind of feedback is really important. While most of these are small there have been some bigger bugs to squash. We're doing all we can to have things ready to go by Jan 1, but we'd hate to leave some people out in the cold for launch because Veil isn't agreeing with their hardware or OS. We'll of course be letting everyone know as soon as we do if a further delay is necessary.

Lol, 50% budget, labs, bla-bla-bla, aka "premine, but we just take it later".

Let's pretend what you've boiled it down to here was accurate. Avoiding a premine alone would greatly benefit the health of the currency by avoiding a swathe of the coin supply being staked from day one. That's already a big difference.

We have asked nothing from anyone externally. If you choose to mine or stake is completely up to you, and the chain will reward that. If you choose to contribute otherwise, the bounty system will reward that. That freedom to develop the product, and as a result, price, is what we're aiming for. But it costs money, and that expenditure benefits not just the team, but everyone.

If you think a premine or an ico is a more reasonable way to start a project you're welcome to that opinion, but try to remember that we as a team have already put our money and time where our mouths are throughout developing this project over many long months. As things stand, it's considerable insurance for you, the users, that we're not going to exit-scam on raised ico funds, or dump a premine and move on. I hope you might come to appreciate that in time.

I don't know that this reply will change your mind, but all the same thanks for your feedback—we appreciate it. Keep your eyes peeled for more on the budget and other info in the near future.
Cheers

To be fair you should launch on testnet first and wait week or two so people can adopt/test wallet and mining software and then launch on the mainnet.

This has been a factor in the decision to delay. Keep your eyes peeled for more info soon.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: December 13, 2018, 02:12:01 PM
ATTENTION: Veil Mainnet launch moved to January 1st, 2019

After an in-depth discussion with our team and community, we decided to further postpone the planned Veil Mainnet launch date to better establish a fair distribution model and for a longer testing period.

We will set up an open and public testing phase for our users, to ensure a fully tested and smooth-running platform and to meet the standards of all the people interested in our project. We are also working on providing the community with more technical information on the x16rt mining algorithm so that everyone is up-to-speed and ready to go before the official launch.

Thank you for your understanding and we will keep you updated on our social channels.

Until now, everything looks fair in this coin launch. It's better to postpone and have all the conditions, this is something that will mark the beginning of the project

Sorry about the delay, and thanks for understanding. We definitely appreciate all the feedback shared in this thread, on Discord, and via social media—I hope it's obvious by our responses and decision to delay to better improve things for miners come launch.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions, or share opinions and feedback as it's all being read and considered carefully, even if sometimes we can't offer the answers you want to hear.
Thanks for the patience, and hope you're all as keen as we are.

Several pools will be available initially, though these are not all official (i.e. run by Veil). You can find info on hosts through this thread or on Discord about other pools.

What pools will those be?  I've gone through the Discord and it's never said.  Someone even asked what other pools besides supernova and it was not answered.  I've heard through the rumor mill that supernova was promised to be the only pool at launch.  If that's the case, be upfront and let everyone know you support a centralized network, otherwise release the code so other pools can join in at launch..

There are two other pools we're involved in setting up that we'll give info on soon (via Discord and social media). Otherwise additional pools will be community-run. I can't give a number on these though at this point, but some hosts of these have initiated contact through Discord if you want to chase them up.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: December 11, 2018, 06:16:06 AM
A promised single pool launch (100% of the hash on a single pool...no bueno) and 50% of the rewards to "fund" the dev team seems like a disaster coin waiting to happen.  Miners need a reason to mine and 25% of the reward, with the current prices, isn't very motivating.  There's many very successful projects that run just fine without a 50% dev fee.  There's also many that fail with a much higher dev fee.  A high dev fund doesn't substitute for a properly ran project.

Sorry to see you feel this way. Allow me to address your concerns anyhow:

Several pools will be available initially, though these are not all official (i.e. run by Veil). You can find info on hosts through this thread or on Discord about other pools.

Why 25% of the reward to miners? If you're assuming it's 25%/25% to miners/stakers that's inaccurate, as mining is greatly favoured during the hybrid phase. 50% of the reward does not go to the dev team. That 50% is split between R&D, reimbursing the initial project development and launch costs (as there was no ico and will be no premine), funding bounties, getting on exchanges, and finally team and operational costs. You're right there are plenty of projects running without that 50%, but those have had icos, premines, or started with blue ocean advantages. As we see it, there is absolutely no point giving more to miners (they already get the lion's share) of rewards if said rewards have no hope of gaining in value.

To add to what Veilgets has already said, we hope to have some info on performance for various GPUs available in the not too distant future also. We'll do all we can to make the mining process as accessible to people as can be.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: November 21, 2018, 07:01:54 PM
Anibody know what GPU perform better on this algo?
NVIDIA or AMD? Thanks people.

Good question. We hope to have more information on mining together and ready to share soon, so please keep your eyes peeled.
