You're correct, I glanced at a sticker on it and that threw me off target of course Aspire 5740G is the notebook, and the graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.

I happen to have an Acer laptop lying around, which has the Mobility HD 5740G built in. It should, in theory, support OpenCL so I could run a GPU miner on it. However, I was unable to do that. It runs Win 7 Enterprise, 32bit, and I have installed latest Catalyst drivers and Stream (now APP) SDK, and no result.

Perhaps someone has had a success with such hardware? In theory, I'm quite ready to put Debian on it if that would work, but I'm at a loss about support status there (for the Mobility card).

Any useful information much appreciated.

Updated: the graphics card is HD 5470, while 5740G is the laptop model. Subject line corrected.
