Hello all,

I happen to have an Acer laptop lying around, which has the Mobility HD 5740G built in. It should, in theory, support OpenCL so I could run a GPU miner on it. However, I was unable to do that. It runs Win 7 Enterprise, 32bit, and I have installed latest Catalyst drivers and Stream (now APP) SDK, and no result.

Perhaps someone has had a success with such hardware? In theory, I'm quite ready to put Debian on it if that would work, but I'm at a loss about support status there (for the Mobility card).

Any useful information much appreciated.

Updated: the graphics card is HD 5470, while 5740G is the laptop model. Subject line corrected.

i was gpu mining briefly on a acer laptop with a 5650 graphics card it in...
but 5740G doesnt sound like the graphics card designation but the acer laptop designation..
might want to check msi afterburner or device manager to see what you're actually running.

You're correct, I glanced at a sticker on it and that threw me off target Smiley of course Aspire 5740G is the notebook, and the graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.

Apologies for the confusion.

I can assist you free of charge if you like?

If you install teamviewer from www.teamviewer.com

It is safe, you install the software then Private Message me with the ID & temporary password, I can log in and set it up for you. Then you can uninstall team viewer.

If you like that is the easiest way!
